Cruel or not the lad who started the topic states that if it was cruel it would be banned in his neck of the woods. That implies that trapping is under scrutiny ??? Those photos wont help anyone who's fighting to keep on trapping. Quiet the opposite. He would get the same praise of fellow trappers (which is why he put the photos up) if he showed the dead foxes in a row or something similar. 99.9% of this worlds population have only ever seen vermin in traps through similar photos and as the saying goes, the photo never lies. So why take the photos ??? JMHO and I use traps myself and

Traditionally on this side of the world pups are born in the Summer and hunting is carried out late Summer 'till late Winter / early Spring. A pup does not hunt in it's first Winter and will be entered in the following season which means most hounds are entered at between 13 and 16 months. It's nothing to do with the law and such but is common sense.

Interesting Find This Season...
neil cooney replied to Rabbit Hunter's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
It sounds very similar to the wind op given to race horses. A lot of the top trainers swear by it. -
jesus man you sure know how to deaden a party, lol.lighten up would ye.its all just a bit of fun,,,,,,, you going to the show in kilkenny sunday neil? Hey Jigsaw, I just thought I'd point out something to all the red blooded males on here, look before you leap. Pervs, LOL. I was actually thinking of going to the show as the terrier judge is a good friend of friends of mine and they're heading down but it's not looking like I'll be going. I'm otherwise engaged and it's not looking at sheep either. LOL.

Dog Shitting On Table ......

LOL, aint you lucky it's barf you feed. -
One of my local farmers ended up in hospital last year and they weren't sure what was wrong (well, it was the Lourdes in Drogheda after all) . It took a foreign doctor who'd seen Lymes before to ask the farmer if he'd deer on his land. When the answer was yes he tested for Lymes and found it was the cause. Up until then I presumed it was confined to the heather on the mountains.

Either that's a child helping those lambs to suckle or that's a very big ewe. I can see a lot of post being deleted in a hurry.

Dog Shitting On Table ......

She's thinking of your back Socks, no more bending down picking up crap. -
There's a trout stream beside me that has a wild brown trout population but is stocked with fingerling and a few half pounders for a good few years now. I think this year they've got themselves in trouble for stocking bigger triploids and have been told they're doing more harm than good. On the subject of Otters ? Otters are no angels and I can understand a carp fishery owner being angry when finding a very expensive fish (that probably has a name like Nora or Tony) lying on the bank with a bite taken out of it but if your trout are disappearing I would be looking elsewhere for the probl

Political Correctness Really Has Gone Mad !

Wonder what would happen if the whites had their own meeting ? -
Obviously the taxidermist has caught the look on the fox's face perfectly. That's how he looked just before the lorry hit him.

When I was young one of my mentors had a Jack Russell bitch called "Uisce" (Irish for water) who on a days shooting could bolt a fox and maybe later retrieve ducks off water. She did this more than a few times in the same day. Very versatile.

No bother to him, I'd say.

I used to use them a lot on a local reservoir that always had a cross wind so I'd always get my leader out nice and straight. I caught plenty on them.

So would you say Powwell and Harcombe sent them for the coin? Or are they just con men? How the f**k would I know ? But I do know that if you breed the odd litter of genuine, well bred pups off good honest workers then your friends wouldn't leave you with any to send abroad anyways. Like I say, many's a good one does get sent over seas from a good lad to a good lad, BUT, when a breeder is sending pups or "guaranteed" workers over to someone he doesn't know for plenty of ££££s then I'd be suspicious. Anyway, the States and after seeing that Aussie website, Australia I would say that those

What Are These Things On This Shit
neil cooney replied to Kay's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Kay, you need more time in the countryside. No offence meant, but Dung Flies are probably one of our most common insects. 100s on a cowpat is not uncommon. In fact a fellow I know know's it's time for his yearly bath when they start landing on him. -
Larsen Trap Protection
neil cooney replied to Skull Hooker's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Does sound like you've found the culprit. You'll still have to catch him in the act though and if you do either tell him he's trespassing and breaking the law for which you'll be informing the police about. It's up to you if you wanted to go that far though. If he was in the forces try and get his name. There's plenty of ex-service men on here. One of them might have some dirt on him, LOL. You could put a sign near your traps saying "traps are being monitored. No interference please." It's a bummer I know. In my parish the only place you'll see more than the odd magpie or greycro -
My post was in jest. Yes, some decent terriers have been sent abroad but they're the one's you don't hear off. However, the ones that usually go abroad and become "legends" ( or Hall of Famer's, LMFAO) are usually sent by con men to con men. These terriers usually go abroad because if they stayed here they'd end up going under. Under the sod, I mean. JMHO and experience.

Larsen Trap Protection
neil cooney replied to Skull Hooker's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
That's illegal and would give the troublemaker a case against you. First, I would ask the landowner that when you catch the culprit will he be banned from the land ? Unless you have trail cameras you'll have to catch the culprit red handed and that might mean sitting out all night (maybe a friend would help so you can split up) when you do show him your permission to set traps and your right to set traps then I would tell him he's now tresspassing and to go see the farmer ASAP. Threaten him with the law too. Anyone who uses larsens get's this sort of trouble every year and it shows how -
I always thought the reason there was so much bad ones over here was because the best ones had all been sent abroad ?

There's an old character in our village that has told this tale so often that he believes it. There was a beautiful cock pheasant that used to be out picking in a field not to far from his house and try as he might he could never get a shot at it. For a few season he'd regularly try to get near the old cock bird to shoot him but the pheasant would always see him first and get away. Anyways, one day he seen the bird out picking and as he was downwind he crept up close enough to the bird. The bird flew quickly into the air and he put his gun to his shoulder to fire. As he looked down the b

Nice one, but if it was me I'd have had some of that liver on the pan before the body had stopped twitching. I can taste it now. Was she a hogget ?

Feeding as much as she wants is something I would not do. Like has been said before, good quality grub for a fit, healthy bitch. Predators in the wild when heavily pregnant actually slow down and catch less.
