Two Christmas's ago I killed and cleaned 7 turkeys for a man. The unfortunate birds were bad with mites and I was covered in them. He paid me 70 quid for the job but I went straight home and threw all my cloths in the bin, so it wasn't a profitable job. He asked me again the next year. I made excuses, never again. They're horrible things.

Some Photos From Past Week
neil cooney replied to zandy01's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Nice photos. Have to say, my favourite is the Swallow. Not to often you see a pic of one with it's feet on the ground (or a post). Lovely. -
All barmaids are stunners after 12 pints lol .......& after 30 pints the barmen.....ask neil haha...... That's never happened...............................................................................................I think.

Yes, those who are on Facebook might be responsible for their own content but when that content makes it's way into the media etc. then we are all tarred with the one brush. And I for one don't want to be compared too those dickhead part timers. And to say this site is just as bad is rubbish IMO as in the last couple of years the mods have done a good job (it helps when they're dogmen / hunters themselves) and most folk have copped on to themselves. This and the fact that most of the dickheads have gone to FB helps. If FB is monitored and censored how come so many damaging photos are

ah you could knock one one back right now couldn't ya ? It's very tempting Marshman, LOL.

I disagree that a pint is the same no matter where. A pint of guinness should be poured into a straight glass, in the UK they serve them in the same glasses as lager or cider. A barman once told me that in the UK the gas is in the keg whereas in Ireland the gas is put into the pint half way between the keg and the glass, hence the reason that a British barman pulls your pint and gives it straight to you, in Ireland the barman pulls the pint and after a few minutes tops it up and gives it to you. One of the best pubs I know for a pint (Fatman and Dillydog of here drank enough of them a few t

Good stuff, you'll be able to get a nights sleep now.

I feel sorry that you believe draught Guinness is proper stout. I know what your saying Shepp, I have a brother who'll only drink craft beers and at this stage he has given me some proper stoutes and ales but I have to say I prefare a nice pint of the black stuff to any of them. There's a big difference in a pint of good Guinness in Ireland to a pint of what they call Guinness in Britain. Besides, when I used to drink Guinness from the high stool it was often the pint bottle I went for.

Enjoyed reading that Jigsaw.

I haven't drank a pint of Guinness in over 2 years but the last time I did I drank nearly 30 pints of the stuff. LOL, maybe it's just as well I don't drink it too often. I feel sorry for you lads in Britain because I don't think ye have ever tasted proper stout, unless you've been to Ireland of course. I used to drink with a man who drank 30 pints a day, I kid you not.
-
That is something that could be used on a few lads on here, LOL.

Hey Lee, if you keep getting so much permission you'll find you'll have a lot of new friends here on THL, LOL. Good luck with the new permissions, the trick now is to hold on to them. I've some of mine 30 years and still get the call and asked to do the job.

Whippet, it's one thing pissing at an earth (or as I do, let a terrier in the length of it's chain) and the vixen will have them gone the next morning. But she'll still go for the same food source so now you'll still have your problem vixen but wont know where she's gone. I move cubs every year by letting a terrier disturb the earth but only if I think they're not a problem and some trigger happy lad might see them, but if they're a problem then I use the terrier, but of the chain this time.

What a load of rubbish. Firstly the photo of the "badger baiter" is obviously staged. Next, if there is actually someone involved in badger baiting why would they need to risk carrying live badgers through or around the city of Dublin down to a place that's already full of badgers and is a well known TB hotspot. Descriptions of badger baiting taking place in sheds in pits has been used now for 40 years by journalists and anti with vivid imaginations. How come there hasn't been one raid or any footage in all those years of a pit in a shed used for badger baiting, let alone convictions ? Do

Bell, a gentleman would say he liked the piece if he did like it and would keep his mouth shut if he didn't.

A dog shouldn't be shedding all the time. Give it a shot of Vit B12, wont do any harm and might help.

There was a debate about this on one of the poultry forums with one woman even admitting to having buckets of her fermenting piss to keep ol' charlie away. It was a favourite with old timers but IMO it doesn't work. It might have worked when everymans hand was against the fox but nowadays the fox encounters human scent on an every days basis and is not afraid to enter a yard or a shed. Anyone who lives in the countryside and has a yard of fowl will at some stage taken a leak outside because they couldn't be bothered running in to the loo and does it stop the fox ? Not in my opinion.

Personally Foxdropper I think terrier work is worth fighting for to keep it legal. If you think different that's your business. I'm not one bit ashamed of what I do. I am ashamed however that the images that the idiots put up on the likes of FB is what the general public think terrier work actually is and I personally want to be as far removed from them as possible. Again, if you want to be associated with them, that's your buisiness.
-
Funny you should say that. I said to a few lads lately that I might start looking at FB. They told me not to bother as I'd just loose the head, LOL, apparently the damage that assholes are doing to hunting on there is serious. I think I'll leave it alone.
-
Well,at least the terriers might have more common sense than some of the idiots who seem to hold cameras around digs nowadays. Mind you, it's only a matter of time 'till someone puts a trail type camera in an artificial, when someone does I hope common sense is used.

I genuinely hope that's a 18" lurcher with a 1/2 lb brownie in it's mouth or I'm one jealous *******. Great pics.

What Do Your Clubs Do
neil cooney replied to Johnlurcher's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
OK John, I hear plenty of good things about the IFA . Normally when a new club sets up beside an existing club there'll be some bad feeling so good luck with the new club. -
its legal were he is,cant see the problem. That's not what I'm saying. Read my first post. Here in Ireland coursing, terrier work ,snaring and fox hunting is all still legal. So because it's legal we don't need to protect it or preserve it ? We don't need anyone fighting our corner if it's still legal ? Is that the way people think ?
-
Your right Eddie, among fellow trappers would be one thing, among the whole wide world is different. As we speak, they're thinking about banning the snare in Northern Ireland.
