  1. If you're a lightweight drinker like me theres a lovely drink ive been getting lately called Rubis, some sort of chocolate velvet ruby red wine i cant get enough of it lately, not all that expensive either.

? no no no they're nice people who live there it was there when they moved in so they dont even know where it came from themself.....and what with me being such a good citizen i couldnt possibly half inch it.....putting them in a position where they want to give me a meaningful gift now thats a possibility, but i,ll see if i can buy one first ?

I regularly walk past a house with this on ,i really want one its like a bronze 3d wall plaque thing about 18 inches high.....ive googled the life out of it trying to find one and cant so if anyone comes across such thing on their travels you can pretty much name your price.
  4. Fingers crossed for you Mushroom.....all the best for a positive outcome.
  5. Its a bit like the old 3 knockdown rule mate im not sure any of the organisations still have that....same thing you could stop an opponent without really hurting them, there was a string of fights in the 80's one i remember well was when Bonecrusher Smith stopped Tim Witherspoon in the first round he literally came out with a mission to get him on the floor 3 times and did, thats it World Champion....Witherspoon wasnt even dazed it was just silly.
  6. I feel a bit for the fella it always looks a bit suspect when you are brought over by the headline fighters camp and get stopped early....although the smile on his face suggests he probably got paid quite well ?

I get it you think the grass is greener mate...but are you sure the shade isnt just slightly more " mint " than the deep " emerald " you are painting it ?.....Wicklow is about 30 odd miles from Dublin right ? ( i only know because its a part of the world i looked at years ago )......well the farmland/English estate houses/old town buildings you describe can be found in towns 30 miles outside of London as well, whats the difference ? Dublin is a shithole as is London, the additions you are getting there are the same as the additions we are getting here.....are you aware that population wise
  8. A pro fighter deserves the right to get knocked out.....most " bad " knockouts occur in the later rounds when dehydration plays a part not from simply getting " bashed up " early on..........just because a fighter is taking shots doesnt mean he cant recover its part of what separates amateur boxing from pro in my opinion.
  9. When was it any different though mate.....its only because of the internet, social media and the general transparency of boxing these days that regular fans know about the drama.....but its always been there. Edited to add.....have a look at the Frank Warren documentary showing on Bt Sport to see drama outside the ring always has and always will surround boxing.
  10. Standing counts are for amateur boxing none of the organisations allow it... i seem to remember the uproar over a standing count in the Froch - Bute fight years ago.....to my mind if a fighter needs rescuing by the referee for 8 seconds then the fight is over.... its up to a fighter to take a knee and if he hasnt got the mind to do that then he probably needs rescuing anyway.....but by the same token in the first round of a fight he hasnt been down in he should also be allowed the time to survive and regroup.
  11. Exactly that.......if ever there was a great advert for sticking with your own kind he was it.
  12. He's a funny one Conor Benn so unpredictable, their plan going in was to win the rounds ?.... make sure he wins rounds and only go wide open if an opening presents itself !....i liked what he said in his interview after " sometimes you just hit someone and it feels right"......fair play to the kid his energy and enthusiasm are lovely to watch. Thought it was a poor stoppage myself.....a referee shouldnt be stopping a fighter on his feet in the first round in my opinion.
  13. LIke yourself ive watched bits and pieces over the years and probably keep up with the bigger fights....regards the match making i just like the way they go on form rather than records you can take a loss,go away and rebuild with some good wins and be back in contention,so that removes the fear of losing which is exactly how it should be....you are rewarded for good wins instead of being rewarded for sitting protecting unbeaten records.
  14. Yanks just dont understand sports that dont involve drama and big numbers they think playing a game of " soccer " for 90 minutes and drawing nil nil is a total waste of time.

By the way as i remember kennel fees were £45 per dog per week back then, around 2002 ish. Compared to 1 horse on average = Weekly training fee £475 Annual vet fees £3000 Annual Blacksmith £1000 Race transport £300 p/race Race entry fee £100 Annual mortality insurance £3500 Thats amongst other things.....what a game eh ! ?

I did the same when i got out the bulldogs years ago, bought a couple of dogs trained by a fella local to me Mick Puzey, used to go down the kennels and have a natter about conditioning etc didnt take me long to realise i probably knew more than he did but it was more of a hobby/fun night out than any kind of business venture,as i remember i came out about even in the end.....what i know about the gee gee's i could write on a stamp so should be an interesting few years ahead,i started to realise theres more than a round of drinks in it when they started talking contracts/solicitors etc etc ?
  17. Thats exactly it....perfect. Oh well thats alright then at least it aint just me that cant stand it !

Me and a couple of equally naive pals have just invested a couple of quid in a few horses trained by Paul Nicholls....what a carry on its not cheap is it i didnt realise the dough involved in that game ?.....time will tell i suppose.
  19. Blimey that was a bit grim i must have been in a mood that day ....little bit over cynical maybe ?
  20. So thats where them silly little pricks with their trousers round their thighs standing about on street corners with ridiculous looking little bull terrier types with spikey collars and a chain that looks like it could hold a cross channel ferry came from........silly me not knowing that what with having an interest in bulldogs as well.
  21. Think we'll see a nice controlled performance from Benns boy tonight i said from day 1 i never thought he would win a world title and i still dont....but he,s a lovely kid who's worked hard at his craft so i,ll be interested to see how far his ability can take him its a big step up tonight but he has a ridiculous engine so fancy Conor can nick a clearish points win.
  22. Same here ive done a couple of Falconry courses that got me all geared up to build a mews and get bang into it but realistically i know i couldnt commit the time needed to a bird......fascinating sport though.
  23. Nicky Graham,dmx....who are these people !
  24. Well played mate good for you That was about my best national ever i always back a couple of favourites and an outsider and never come even remotely close to a win, ever !....third and fourth today so im getting there ?
  25. Yep,good sensible post mate ive said for a while theres a few things boxing can learn from Ufc....theres not so much " building " and more actual " competing " in Ufc less emphasis put on unbeaten records etc.....more realistic weight divisions as well.
