  1. Cheers mate, I hope I know her breeding mate i bred her... She's 20" and 30lb her ped can be Viewed here
  2. I personally wouldn't have a bedlington x whippet. I have one in the past and from experience my current whippet knocks spots off the beddy x whippet. My whippet will work all day with the ferrets or just mooching and i do mean all day. It's all about the breed of whippet and the conditioning of the dog. Too many people keep there dogs in runs for days on end and then expect them to do a full days work... this will ever happen. You only get out what you put in. A bloke i know has a saying piss poor preperation = piss poor performance a quote i totally agree with. As for the whippet having a c
  3. This is my whippet bitch marking a warren.. she lifts her leg and tilts her head to one side and she stays at the hole until she's called...
  4. Grab your coat Tom i think you've pulled lol. Only joking mate, i didn't think you needed an excuse to get pis**d mate. Are you coming down again in January for another day at Doncaster races??
  5. Careful there, I know a lad who scorched his lances reflector using a 100W bulb. I've been using the lamp for over a year without any problems mate,Having said that though it's never on more than 20 seconds or so at a time as the dogs usually caught by then.
  6. That whippet looks in great shape mate and it's a credit to you... keep up the good work
  7. There ok on hare mate but there never going to be 3 out of 3 dogs. They will give a good show on hare and give 100%. As for the slip i used to give the hare fair law over 70yds, as like most whippet owners it's not the catching it's seeing the dog run that we get enjoyment in. That said in the smaller fields they will have a good catch rate on short slips. Unfortunately duw to the ban i have to use my whippet to flush them to the gun she does this very well indeed but i must get to the clay ground and brush up on my shooting as she tend to catch more than i hit A few of my bitch(Vix
  8. I have the same setup mate, I think you will find the lance has a 75w bulb as standard(mine did anyway) I fitted a 100w bulb to my lance and it was spot on for rabbits at upto 200yds. However i bought the lightforce striker as i wanted a lamp with a little more distance for the bigger fields and i find it a little better than the lance. I'm not one of those that has the lamp on all the time, as soon as i enter the field i have a quick scan of the field with the red filter on and pick the rabbit i am going to run. Using this method i've yet to run the lithium down completely and i've been
  9. My friend has a pest control company and he uses traps and sticky boards in loft spaces, for the reasons already mentioned. You don't want the smell of dead and decaying rats in the house as they smell terrible. Also it's a good idea to look how the rats are getting in to the loft space. Look at the guttering downpipes as there a favourite they can get up these as easy as anything.
  10. They are correct, my lab fern will find shot woodcock without any problem but she won't actually pick them.I've tried and tried to get her to pick them. She has picked them and walked 2 yards then she spits them out. They must be very bitter or something as she pulls an awful face when she's had one in her mouth...
  11. The sports mode on the 350d and almost all canons sets the shutter speed slower than you actually need to capture running dogs in focus. I always shoot in manual. Obviously if you don't understand the camera and the settings fully it can be quite daunting to say the least. What i would advice is the following settings and try them mate. Set the camera to TV mode and set the shutter speed at around 800. if it's quite a bright day alter the iso to around 200 if it's a dull day set it at around 1000. Set the focus to centre spot and AI focus. You can alter the iso settings according to how b
  12. Cheers for dropping the treadmill off for me mate really appreciated it. I'll get those nets and ferret carrying box sorted for your keiron after christmas mate..
  13. Wasn't jumping to conclusions mate that's why i asked. It does look alot like your bitch thats why i asked.. cheers Mally
  14. I've got a lance here mate with a 100w striker bulb in, it's almost as good as a striker. I'll let you have that along with a 7amp battery and charger if you could deliver it and 2 filters, green and red I'll even throuw in a cup of tea too
  15. Is this your bitch for sale??? http://www.epupz.co.uk/clas/viewdetails.asp?view=303186
  16. the lens i have looked at is a sigma 150 500 but it looks big i dont honestly know if this 1000d body will take it , if i had the £ 600 + to get one i would still need to look at what lens this body will handle Hi Kay your camera body is plastic and IMO will struggle with a heavy lense as the bayonet fitting may indeed fail on the camera. The body of the eos 30d's and above are made from an alloy which are capable of withstanding the heavy lenses. My 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 weighs over a kilo, i always carry it with the lense and not the camera. I never use a tripod and only occasionally u
  17. I personally don't use them kate, as you lose a full F stop when you use one, i.e if it's a f4 lense it would be a f5 with a converter. My friend has the 2x canon that she uses it with a 70-200mm f 2.8 and she gets good results (a canon one). I wouldn't buy any other than canon though.
  18. As Above once you have edited the picture save it as a copy and it will automatically convert the file to j-peg..
  19. I agree with this post, I don't let my whippets see a rabbit in anger until there nearly ten months old at least. You'll know when there ready. If you let them do as they like hunting up etc, you'll spend 6 months trying to get them to stop when your lamping!!!!. A dog that hunts up on the lamp is no good to anyone...My advice is let pups be pups do the basic training with them including breaking them to ferrets and livestock. I've never seen a dog ruined starting it late but i've seen loads ruined starting them far too early. Be patient and you will be rewarded tenfold
  20. When posting cash mate it's best to send it signed for. it costs an extra 75p but it's well worth it. When i post out photo's i always send them signed for that way the customers can't say they havn't recieved them if they actually have as delivery is recorded by the post office.
  21. You get more pleasure catching rabbits in nets you've made mate, I make all my own nets now, including longnets
  22. I have some permission on a nature reserve and when i met them initially they said i couldn't dig. I told them i wasn't interested then and explained like you how much the ferrets mean to me(and the 15" collars at nearly £50 a pop). I told them that all the ferrets would have a locator collar fitted and that you only usually need to dig one hole. I also told them that if i needed to dig i would turf the top and back fill and make sure the ground was as i found it. It worked for me and i got written permission. The only times i can't ferret on there is on a sunday due to public access. Oh and
  23. I've got one and i wouldn't go back to the old dry cell batteries no matter what. There as light as a feather and they charge in half the time.
  24. Boo-Hoo. I've broken the law and I have to pay the penalty. Well TOUGH SHIT. Keep your foot off the pedal next time dipshit. Ric :clapper: :clapper:
