  1. sound advice, i would have wrote exactly the same myself
  2. My whippet Vixen was very soft mouthed when i started her,and after almost 500 rabbits on the lamp ( i don't count daytime or ferreted rabbits) she still retrieves live to hand and you can eat all the rabbits she catches. She just holds them a little bit firmer. With your dog only being 2 it's only got one season under it's belt. Just get out there next season and show it as many as you can, it will soon get the hang of it. I'd sooner a dog be soft mouthed than a real cruncher anyday of the week. I've seen some dogs crunch so hard you could post the rabbits they caught through a letter box
  3. I went a couple of years ago when they held a lurcher and terrier show. But i see there's only a fundog show on now. Don't the organisers want lurcher/ Terrier folk there anymore??
  4. 8 Month old!!!! he's still a pup mate, let him be a pup and be patient. His tendons and muscles will still be soft and all you'll do is injure the dog. You'll get more from the dog if you enter the dog later. I've got a 9 month old pup and i havn't even thought showing her any work yet. I'm just keeping up with her training and taking things easy. There's no rush. When i do enter my whippets mate i do it on there own without any other dogs. Each to there own but you'll ruin the dog
  5. It's the same all over the country mate, they have dogs 2 minutes, get rid and then get another one. It's the norm with some nowadays they don't keep em 2 minutes. I know someone who had 23 dogs in 2 years!!!! he kept buying older dogs out the freeadds and surprise surprise they were never any good. I thought he'd have learnt his lesson after the first couple but no he kept on buying and selling!!! don't deserve dogs IMO. I always bring pups on, that way if they don't make the grade you've only yourself to blame. If they havn't time to bring a pup on they they havn't time for a dog IMO.
  6. Congratulations on your first Buck
  7. think it's a pedigree whippet mate
  8. Your bang on there mate, there's scum in all walks of life. I actually phoned the lad who's dogs featured in this post to offer my help in finding her. He's a sound lad. Just hope she turns up soon. Don't give up though as a friend had her dog returned to he last week exactly a year from when he was stolen. Yhe dog was sold on the onternet and the bloke who bought him took him to the vets and ask to see if he was chipped. He was and when the vets checked it flagged up as being stolen. The bloke who bought him did the right thing and contacted his original owner and handed him back.. Al
  9. how far back should it be cut mate?and will it not be painful each time it starts to grow and have to be cut again, continually repeating the process with the pottasium,or just far enough to keep it off the pad, thankyou for your advice It's going to hurt the dog when you first cut it mate, especally if you cut the quick. If you just trim the nail without cutting the quick it won't hurt the dog although you will have to keep cutting it on a regular basis. If you do cut the nail right back, apply the potassium and leave it. Keep an eye on the nail and just trim the end once a fortnight, ke
  10. Just keep it really short mate if it's not effecting the dog in anyway. The only problems your mate will get with the dog is if the nail starts growing into the pad. A vet could remove the nail but if it's not bothering the dog i wouldn't myself. I'd take it right back, yes it's uncomfortable for the dog when you do it and you'll need some potassium permanganate crystals (available from any good chemist) to apply after and help stem the bleeding. I've done this in the past when a lurcher of mine had a toe injury just to take the pressure off the toe, and it worked great. She was back runni
  11. Top Job MRD you can't beat growing your own vedge, Don't forget to put new potatoes in as an early crop next year. You'll have new potaotes much earlier than anyone else when there a fortune at the supermarkets, who knows you may beable to sell a few and pay for all your seeds for the season. My mate had a poly tunnel for years, his wife grew everything in there, everytime i visited them i used to come away with a boot full of stuff. His wife fecked off and her moved the polytunnel up the wood and he converted it into a pheasant pen!!! I've got the room for one but i think the neighbou

  13. Was that the one that wasn't even insured??? lol
  14. And still you carry on. You don't get you way and then everyone is your enemy. Nobs, Shooting Community. People don't disappear, they just avoid YOU. Why can't you do something constructive with your life? if you have one of course or are you just going to be a bitter old twisted man for the rest of your days? Your the bitter old twisted man Gatekeeper, i thought you'd have more constructive things to do like dish out speeding tickets or arresting Pedophiles. I was told they threw you off moderating the NOBS forum for causing trouble on other forums... Thats not a very good example for
  15. Hi Mike i wouldn't worry if your feeding wet food, a dog will drink if it needs to. Your doing the right thing doing the dehydration test.

  17. Money sent mate let me know you've recieved it. You came on at 5.10 thought you'd have let me know bud
  18. He'll be gald he turned you down then, i know i would have done. And you have shown your true mentality with the post above. As Lampy says 'this site never fails to amaze me' statements like Trisha has made are getting all too common on here and it's a shame, all Taff did was put a post up selling pups at a reasonable price. A price i would be more than happy to pay if i was looking for another pup. If you went shopping to tesco and the bill came to £100 would you offer them £66 !!!!! i thought not than why do the same to Taff lol.

  20. You have to be on guard at all times and choose the people you associate with. I have no knowledge to this particluar case as i'me over 300 miles away from scotland, but hwat i will say is be careful lads. I visit a few lurcher and terrier shows and have done the photography at a few. Being a working dog enthusiast myself although i only keep a couple of whippets and a working lab now i have kept lurchers in the past and know my dogs. Some folk don't do there self any favours i've heard lads bragging on the top of there voice about illegal activities around the lurcher/terrier rings. Now
  21. lol probably mate, but my backdrop is 10'x20' i got it from a company that makes marques for about the same price as a cotton one and they gave me a tube to roll it onto to prevent creases etc. It is heavy though so you need a good quality backdrop support.
  22. I use recharge mate, get some glucose in to as it's handy to give them if they have had a hard days graft. atleast she had some fun while she was here, i feel for the ones that dont get a chance cooped up in a run. we had some good times so we did. mally where do you buy that mate you got a link carnt believe i'm so popular here lol great support of thl crew and am very greatfull for all the kind words and pm's Here you go Al this is where i get mine from the link CLICK HERE is for a 1 litre bottle, they also do a 500ml bottle but the litre one is better val
  23. what the feck is wrong with sheep dogs ye twat just try it again mate I think he meant dogs that chase sheep rather than 'sheepdogs'. if you go to your local farmer and ask if you can socialise your dog when he is in the feild and you never no it could get some permission This is good advice, i'd go back to basics with the dog, get a lunge lead and take him in the field and see what he does on his own (no other dogs). Running dogs together often gets them worked up and the dogs try and compete with each other making anything game. I've seen it happen. Electric collars a
