Same as i said i couldn't be arsed to read through the 18 new pages since my last visit lol. So fairplay to tommo. My bitch caught a mixy rabbit on her way back on my heat with LDR and i just threw it in the hedgebottom, IMO they shouldn't count as it's no test to any dog now is it????. Next year i'm not entering THL's lamping comp, I'm just going to invite the friends i met in last years competition for a few nights lamping. Chartpolski has been down here a fair few times and we've had some real good nights lamping, the first time he came down i was surprised he didn't get pulled up on hi

I've been really busy the last few days and i've not kept up with this thread and tbh i can't be arsed with reading the 18 pages thats been posted since i saw it last. This lamping competition has been a real nightmare due to a number of reasons, the main one being weather. You can count the number of decent lamping nights last season on one hand. Another reason it's been a nightmare is the constant slagging off from folk who wern't even in the competition. I entered the comp and also Judged 2 heats, i met some good decent lads (and lass's) and i've really enjoyed it. Now some of us

I just thought i'd let you all know, I'm having a Family/Pet portrait day at Walesby Village hall, NG22 9PB On SUNDAY 21ST MARCH I will have a studio set up with 2 coloured backgrounds (white and a Marble effect bluey/grey). Photo's will be available to take away on the day and enlargements (all at just £10) to order. These days offer great value for money as we don't charge for the actual photography we only charge for the photographs you order (and there discounted heavily at that!!). You know how much school photo's cost and if you have more than one child you have to buy for each chil

Thanks for that Luke, We try to do our best. Hope to see you again this year I always try and give a bit of discount to THL members if they order online

Not much about now, the reason i said at mine mate is you will see from the land i work why i have chosen to keep and work whippets. There's a spare kennel here for your dog.

I totally agree with fight the ban, you only get out of a dog what you put into one. Starting a pup working before it's properly developed is asking for trouble. Take a note of all the folk bragging there dogs are catching at 6 months old, then take a look in 4-5 years time to see if they still have the dog!!!!. I start my pups when there fully developed and trained not until, usually thats around the 10 month mark and thats only a couple of easy runs to build the pups confidence. Whin you are always on about your dogs and there abilities, offering matches etc, yet you failed to enter

Mally, 54mm is a half mesh, the correct size would be 108mm mesh. TC When i order my sheet netting it's measured knot to knot as i order 200metre x 54mm mesh sheets mate. You are correct it's 108mm but it's sold by the suppliers as 54mm mesh (knot to knot). I like this mesh size as the rabbits heads go through and there caught. They don't seem to bounce off like they sometimes do with the 50mm mesh. Mally what you have stated is correct I use 4.25" on all my hand made nets. At a guess you are getting your nets from a rabbit hardware supplier. Just a little tip. No

Hey Macca, the litter brother to my fawn whippet bitch won two class's at crufts today!!!!. Not bad for a dog that's also a cracking working dog. Top marks to his owner Tracey for giving him the best of everything!!! -
I'll run ya mate with my pure KC registered Whippet on rabbit against any of your dogs. Please don't tar all of us with the same brush, my dogs are fit for purpose. infact were lamping tonight...

A whippet dog i bred won 2 classes today, limit and the racing/coursing class
-
That may well be in most cases but would you buy a pup out of a known yapper??? No mate i wouldn't to be honest, i go out with a mate who was told to run his whippet from 5 months old (before he knew me) and it's like going out with the grove and rufford hunt lol. However he knows it's his fault and he's standing by his mistake. His bitch has really improved though when she's run on her own with no other dogs on the field. He'll keep her til the day she dies, but he'll never breed from her.

As mentioned if you can afford it feed Chudleys greyhound racer. I used to feed redmills racer for years but it went downhill. I then went on to beta greyhound and didn't rate it so went onto chudleys racer never looked back. You don't need to feed as much and the dogs do well on it. I also feed raw lamb to my working dogs and pups. My whippet pup has 3 meals a day 2 x chudleys racer and 1 x 10z of tpms minced raw lamb

Sold to Beesty. Thanks for the swift payment mate. It will be posted tomorrow by second class recorded. please let me know when it arrives..

I'd recommend a mesh size of 54mm mate, Make sure you buy a net with 100% bagging the ones you get from deben and the main retailers there just isn't enough bagging in them. I make my own longnets and i do have some netting in stock. Let me know via pm what size your looking for and i'll send you a price including end pins (traditional set) with 100% bagging guaranteed

genuine first cross saluki /greyhound pups
mally replied to macca's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
She'll be looked after mate, we picked up a load of tripe and meat up for her on the way back. she's going for her jab on saturday and she's being chipped next week. Volly's a good lad and i'll make sure he gets out with me and give her the work she deserves, but it won't be until she's ready. I told Volly not to expect to run her in anger until after christmas. He's asked me to take a few pics of her from time to time so i will make sure i post a couple on here for you to see her progress. You'll have to come over next season for a couple of runs. -

I went through with a mate to see these pups. My mate bought the fawn bitch. It's a fine litter, can't understand why there still for sale. Good well reared pups. Nice to meet ya today macca. All the best with the rest of them. -
I'm going on Saturday so i don't run into the weirdo who posted above . If anyone would like me to take a few photo's of there dogs on the day please drop me a pm.

I've recently bought a new softbox and studio flash/model lamps. I thought i'd set one up with a soft box and take a few shots of my 6 month old whippet pup Mojito whilst she was laid on the sofa. Please let me know what you think

I totally agree mate, i've been saying the same for over 20 years. You get some lads who lock a pup in a kennel for 6 months not even taking it for a proper walk or taking the time to get the dog fit. They take it out the kennel at 6-7 months old and take it lamping expecting it to catch!!!!. As you say a dog run too young or too hard is the reason they start to yap... I do know from another thread that poacher3161 knows of a litter that was bred out of a yapper. All the pups turned out to be yappers. This is the first time i've heard of this though, but i'm not doubting him in anyway...

I saw this bitch in the flesh when me and a mate collected a whippet pup from FH, My Mate bought bedlington/greyhound pup out of the bitch. The bitch obviously had 3 week old pups on her when we saw her, however she was in better condition than alot of the lurchers i see around the shows. She is a fine bitch, i'm not keen on greyhounds TBh but i'd be more than happy to have her in my kennels. The photo is a little decieving she's alot bigger than she looks in the pics. Fence hopper is over 6' tall just to give you an idea. The pup my mate bought is coming on nicely, she's got plenty of spi

Whenever money is involved you will always get folk who cheat for financial gain, regardless of what effect it will have on the dogs by using these substances. I'm a photographer and i've covered a few non ped race meetings, i noticed a few photo's from the first meeting i covered, featured a certain dog in full flight, his eyes were out on stalks and the dogs back legs were unusally high. I asked a friend if folk gave there dogs a little help to make sure they won, he confirmed my suspicians. I was told that all types of things are used, including cocaine, whiz, steriods and even coffee sprinkl
