You've hit the nail right on the head there mate, totally agree 100%. There was a program on canned hunting a couple of years ago. It's a shame and not for me at all. Whenever i hunt/shoot it's for pest control and the meat is used to feed me the ferrets or the dogs, except for the foxes!!!.

genuine first cross saluki /greyhound pups
mally replied to macca's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
I've seen a couple of first x's and they were fine looking dogs, What i liked about them is they get straight up to the quarry and put the pressure on straight away. Alot of people are running this type of dog now as they can have a run and there away. Not like running a pure. The ones i saw were bitches and they stood around 23". They don't want running young though they want time to mature. I'd put the whippet dog over the saluki bitch though. give me a bell mate as i know of a nice dog thats not too far away from you. Here's Volly's bitch mate, He brought her along to a Family/Pet p -
It's Vinyl kathy so it just wipes clean, so much better than the cloth ones.

I use recharge mate, get some glucose in to as it's handy to give them if they have had a hard days graft.

I disagree with you there Hannah, yes it's nice to photograph dogs out in the field but some breeds of dogs look better in the studio, like the toy breeds. As for being bored in the studio, No dog was in the studio for more than 15 minutes. Studio work wasn't my favourite to start with but i really enjoy it now, I have the Family /Pet portraits every so often and i was surprised how many people bought there dogs along. I try and give customers what they want afterall they pay the bills lol. Taking shots of dogs outside in the summer months also has it's disadvantages too, after 5 minutes all

Only Maggie you tight git lol what about your other 2 mate. I'll let you know when i'm holding another Family/Pet portrait day... Vixen is fine mate, she's looking really well all considered..

I took these on a family/pet portrait day i held on sunday, The saluki x is my mates and is 6 months old. The whippet is mine and is 9 months.

The easiest way is to open a free photobucket account http://photobucket.com upload your pics onto there then copy the img code to the image you want to use and paste it in your post on here. Uploading the photo's onto your photobucket account has it's advantages too as it will resize them and optimise them for the web. I upload my photo's at 800 hope that helps

The Welsh Game Fair, Llandeilo
mally replied to labsnlurchers's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
I went last year and really enjoyed it. It's a cracking show. Well worth the 500 mile round trip. Don't know wether i'll make it this year as yet as i'll need to juggle a few jobs around. Hopefully i'll be there on the sunday... -
A dog is only as good as it's owner, keep a dog in a centrally heated house 24/7 and it won't handle the cold simple as that. My whippets don't seem to mind the cold.. And the fawn is half show bred too!!!!

I always use A&M custom gunsmiths if i have any problems with any of my guns. There work is spot on and they don't rip you off.

Gutted for you, a real shame

I've had 2 hours walking around those parts this morning, i even took vixen with me as she's in season but never saw a sight of him i'm affriad. If he's been picked up he could have been taken to carlton forest kennels on blyth road, worksop. I've rang around the farmers in that area too as i have alot of permission around those parts. I do know there have been some issues with poachers in the area,so lets hope he's not stayed in the area long as the keepers are sick to death of the lurcher gangs. I will have a look around tomorrow again,an i'll give trevor a ring at the gunshop in the nex
-
I know the keeper on that estate i'll give him a ring, and tell him to give me a ring if he picks it up. Hope it's stock broken though mate as theres sheep in that area.
-
Dell i've a couple of spare kennels here mate if you need a hand with the dogs, you arn't that far from me. They will be well looked after mate

what's the deepest you have dug for your ferret ?
mally replied to Simply Bull 02's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
My deepest dig is 9 feet, fortunately most of my land is sand so digging is relatively easy although you do need to dig a wide hole to avoid cave in's. In nearly 30 years of ferreting i've never lost a ferret thankfully. If a ferret does lie up and it's deeper than i want to dig i'll wait and 90% of the time the ferret will appear. However if it doesn't and digging is the only option then i'd sooner dig than block all the holes up and leave it til the next day. All it takes is you ferret to dig itself out during the night and charlie pick it up along with it's locator collar. I've heard t -
Alot of the sooty sam bred dogs have Oakbark blood in them. Mine included. I'd sooner have show bred blood in them than racing blood. Show bred dogs in my experience have far more stamina than the dogs with racing bloodlines. I bred a line bred sooty sam bred bitch to racing lines, unfortunately the bitch was stolen before she was really tried, however i did have my doubts on her stamina. Thats why i bred from a show bred dog to produce Vixen the bitch i'm running now. Her stamina is second to none.

You won't go wrong there Fish, The warrener was there last year selling his caty's for feckin stupid money. I went last year on the sunday. It was a 500 mile round trip for me and it was well worth it. Apart from the yorkshire gamefair it was one of the best shows i attended.

Please remember me in your will JD, i'd just love that lense but i don't have £3500 burning a hole in my pocket!!!

I just wondered what you do with the photomounts when you buy photographs at events. The reason i'm asking is this, the mounts are very expensive for what they are, I like to use a good quality mount with my buisiness name on as the cheap mounts tend to make a good photo look bad!!!. I am just about to order my mounts for the forthcoming show season and i thought i'd ask what folk do with them. As it's pointless me ordering 2000 premium mounts when 90% of people throw them away. I'll just order the cheapest and save alot of money. If i could get away with selling the photo's unmounted i w

I'm a Canon man myself, but i have friends that use Nikon's. IMO there are just 2 makes of professional slr's worth buying and they are Canon and Nikon. The reason being is they do an excellent range of both standard and professional L lenses. The last time i looked at the rest there range of lenses available was very poor. I generally only purchase the canon L series lenses, they are more robust and they hold there money well. You will never loose too much money on them as they have an excellent resale value. As with anything In my opinion you do get what you pay for, That said though
