The bullx couldn't catch foxes on our small fields and the lil bitch didn't have it to do them alone after sept but as a pair they did very wellNeither of them can be classed as a fox dog though.And unless it's specifically being done for pest control and let's face it for 90% of lads it was done for sport why would you want to.

    A fox is a fox to me mate where ever it is in the country we just got on more in a night down south.     I'd like to see a -90lb dog catch 7 winter foxes in a night.And I mean run off the slip not dropped out of a motor or killing dopey 3/4 grown cubs on the stubbles. Not going to get into arguments on here , but , apparently the Ben dog was doing it , the dog I was out with was capable of it , are sure Bird will agree with me .Like I said in an earlier post I don't think it's impossible for a very good dog to do 7 in a night I've twice witnessed a dog do 5 and seen 4 done a few times once myself with a 23 1/2 inch 57lb bitch but all these dogs needed a little rest period before they could be wo

    7 or 8 in one day or night is some feat single handed if your talking catch and kill and mature winter foxes.Im not saying it's not possible but if a dog was to do it I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be going out the next day and doing it again.

    A lad who's opinion I respected where foxing lurcher were concerned told me about this dog a good few years ago. He did a lot of his work down south before he was sold to a man in Ireland for 2000 then after a few years was bought back for a 1000 in his old age to retire and line a few bitches back here in Yorkshire but never made another Ben he was a one off. It was a lad from Yorkshire that told me about him.

    The best I ever witnessed was a first cos bull/greyhound called Rumour who was a half brother to the well known bull cross Punch.I saw him hunt up and kill 3 daytime foxes and mark an earth and catch a bolted fox within 20yds at the age of 9 on the landfill sites around Essex.I decided that day that he was the dog to use on my botch who was pretty good herself day and night.

    Seen a couple of really top class fox dogs over the years and owned a couple of good ones so found that all pretty believable until it got to killing them in second and retrieving them to hand over five bar gates.

    Seen a handful of receipt bred dogs out of or going back to Billy and none of them resembled the Punch/Havoc/Marley stuff that I've seen.To be fair the handful of reeve bred dogs of seen work went in the same league as the stuff down from Punch/Havoc/Marley
