English Bull And Their Crosses Thread.
downsouth replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
What would be the point in anyone importing any of them useless paki bred mungrels. -
When I first decided to put a Wheeler dog on one of my old bitches I had the choice of both or another dog the same way bred as keith and the lads all told me to use Charlie.
-
He was 1/8 bull and bred by Derek and owned by a good friend of mine.Id think he'd of been born at least 18yrs ago. Brother to keith/kilo dog to from different mating was he? Few generations back that now, but bull does tend to show through in a line for a few! Working ability is the first quality we all look for im sure but a dog with good bone and built for the job already puts it ahead of any inferior type on the way to being a grafter, can only hope then that the drive is in them to get job done!Half brother same dam.Keith was 1/4 bull also owned by a pal.The owners of Charlie and Keith

Funny how there's a lot who can't seem to manage either.

Where have I mentioned steroids ? replied to the wrong person mate.

Yea that's the jab Peter parvo I should of said in the first post.interesting how the it effects dogs.if the the fighting lads have noticed it and a top greyhound trainer has also seen it.Greyhounds can't run on the track without all there vaccinations being up to date.I don't suppose getting hold of a vets book and putting some jab labels off a vial would be hard work DS.loads of fraud goes on.im just saying what the woman said that's all but it makes you think if top trainers mention it.Not as easy as that.Ear tattoos micro chips vaccination records and registration papers all have to match

What makes you think that?

I love mature Stilton but it has to be a good quality one.I like it between bacon and a fried egg in a sarnie or in soup or just a big wedge of it with a nice crispy apple and a few grapes with a nice glass of port.

I like that it makes a lot of sense....same with anything you just have to have faith in the dogs breeding that its going to do what comes natural when put in that position you dont need to keep " trying it out " every 5 minutes just to put your mind at ease.....selection/breeding/schooling/showtime in that order regardless what breed or what task.Exactly mate I've always had that theory with whatever type of dog I've had.Even if I did do bite work with her week in week out its not going to make her a better dog in the long term anyway. What are the other mastiff breeds like for this work, ? Wh

I don't have any pics of my pals neo on my phone mate as I cleared all the pics and vids of anything that wasn't mine from my phone the other week as my memory was full. Not that I'd have a clue how to land them onto here anyway.
-
BGD just answered everything just about spot on.In everyday life the neo bitch is very very obedient and can be controlled with voice commands but like he said doing agitation you don't want to be telling a dog to stop your trying to build it up.In my opinion control is the most important thing with this type of dog.I have a young bitch her heavy neo breeding who's 24" 75lb @ 7 months I did I started off with loads of environmental training to make sure her nerves were solid then we did some light rag and pad work just to build her prey and show her how to bite equipment and for the last 2 mon

As you can see by that video even though the dog is doing damage a 40-50lb dog can be dragged about and manhandled to a degree whereas with a 80lb+ dog your going nowhere unless it's the dog doing the dragging about.

A decent mastiff or mastiff cross will eat no more than a GSD and will be less high maintenance and more chilled out to have about the place.
-
I,ll take your word for it mate like i said to you before thats way too much dog for me at this point in life Purely out of interest, would that still apply to a man fighting back with i dont know a bat/bar tool of some kind.....is a proper manstopper expected to take punishment......if so surely condition has to come into it. I've took a few bites off of a few big dogs that I wouldn't even class as top level pp dogs just big dogs that were learning their trade.Dogs that knew how to bite but hadn't been tested or moved up to the higher levels of environmental pressure or defensive stress an

I agree it followed its instinct and thats more than most dogs do these days......but like anything a dog will only perform well for as long as it has air in its lungs, hence an average dog in great condition is always better than a good dog in poor condition id imagine that theory applies to almost any task a dog is set.Your right there gnash all dogs will perform better if kept in good condition but a purpose bred manstopper should be able to incapacitate the biggest of men long before their wind and stamina even starts to be tested.Seconds not minutes.

We have a lad who trains with us who has a pit that he got from the dogs home that he works at he's the double of the old reid dogs that the Scottish lads had years ago. When he first came training a couple of the yonder fellas tried winding him up and myself and the fella who decoys for us told them to stop as the dog should only be worked in prey drive. The dog is unbelievable week by week the dog was progressing quicker than any dog I've seen worked.longsends, outing on command, suprised attacks, recalling off of a bite the works. Then a while back the lad decided he wanted to work him in defence

I saw it more as a pet doing a good job watching the property, definitely a poor showing if it was supposed to be a real serious guardian. I've done a bit of suit work with my pit bull and she definitely worked her hold on a human the same way as she would on a dog, it's honestly frightening to watch a dog go for a human with such intensity, different to the more business like way I've seen mastiffs taking men down you could really tell she was enjoying the fight. I started the bite work to try and get a bit of control on her teaching her when it's acceptable to go for a human and when i

Have you ever owned either a man working apbt or mastiff type.
-
That dog in the video was a bag of shit regardless of weather it was fit or not.If a proper protection/property guard 9ver 100lb gets hold of you there is no fighting it off.Youve probably got between 5 to 10 seconds before you go into shock when it starts mangling whatever part of you it gets hold of.

And a warm feeling of self importance.
