  1. The thing you have got to think about is that late kits are alot more difficult to get rid of because most people who want them get them as early as they can. What will you do if you aren't able to get rid of 15 or so ferret kits?
  2. You beat me to it....was gonna say they will have hours of fun with a carrier bag....the problem with ferrets is they get bored quite quickly with toys etc so you are constantly trying to find new things to amuse them, ive hung mesh hanging baskets from the roof, pipes, logs, you name it....but a carrier bag, you will wet your knickers laughing at them Ive never had one get stuck in a bag but im sure if they did their teeth and nails are more than adequate to free them. If you dont have much room for a court build UP rather than out. MOLL. I second the plastic bag thing.....Ferrets
  3. My first court was made out of a 6 x 4 shed and i have had no problems at all with it. I am still using it as a kindergarten
  4. I think it looks the dogs danglies. Can you get the tape in mossy oak etc and are you planning on doing the bipod?
  5. I keep hoping this kit will make it to adulthood I hope everything works out for the best and that they both are well
  6. Trouble is...Is that it is 35 unregulated shots total. This means you will only get approximately 12-15 consistantly powered shots. The first and last dozen or so will be all over the place. I trialled one about 6 months ago, the are deadly accurate but a real pain in the ass because of the lack of shots. I tried the .177 and i know that the .22 has more shots (60-70 if I remember right) but for me that is still not enough especially when ratting and shooting feral pigeons.
  7. All I can say is that you must love her...... I got married quite recently and was looking down the same route as you but in the end I sold some shares I had.... Good luck
  8. The smell of a hob is one of those you either put up with or you dont, you either like it or hate it type of smell. The hobs do smell a lot stronger during the summer but the jills seem to me to have the same odour all year round. I'm pretty sure that if you have a hob castrated that they can or do remove the scent glands as well.
  9. Ive had them battered (no smart arse remarks thanks ) and put them out at a barbecue with some sweet chilli sauce but my youngest went around telling people what they were so me and the father in law enede up eating most of them because people "didnt like the sound of it" but we only used the saddle and back leg meat. They were very tasty though
  10. I will have some ferret kits ready to go around the middle of july. There is a mixture of sandy's, polecats and possibly silvers. PM me if interested.
  11. I think what people are trying to say is the knowledge can not be gained from books alone!! The lad asked a very valid point and you came out and ridiculed him. The guy admits he is new to ferreting and has had the intelligence to ask about something he is not sure of........ If only more people were like that
  12. Maybe a topic on the alternatives wouldnt go a miss as well then to be honest breeding wouldnt be at the top of my list of prorities when wanting advice about getting ferrets & how to keep them. Things like housing & feeding would obviously need to be addressed first , but i honestly dont think the average newbie ferret keeper is going to benefit from being shown how a male ferret gets his leg over I think the moral of your thread is seperate hutches This brings up the question of , should ferrets be mated every year either by a vasectomised hob or a fully functione
  13. Where abouts are you mate maybe someone on here will be able to meet with you/ take you out and show you
  14. As localyokel said go with someone experienced. You cant learn everything from a book and practising on an animal can cause it harm and sufffering.
  15. When i first looked I thought the fert was a roast chicken Couldn't work out why it was on shredded paper
  16. I have two ferrets together at the moment and they both gave birth about the same time. I looked in on them tonight and there are approx 20 little pinkies all together
  17. Nice bag... When were they shot?????
  18. Ive just laughed so much ive been moaned at by the mrs for waking the kids up....Worth it though
  19. Unless you are very very lucky you are going to struggle to find one at that price with charging gear and scope. As half and half says the S400 is the better one of the bunch
  20. I have a Hawke SR6 scope mounted on my S400 and it keeps losing its zero. Has anyone else experienced these problems with this scope?
  21. i have 2 albino jills that lost their hair last spring. They were not totally bald but they looked like they had been shaved with hair clippers
  22. This topic has been covered a few times mate and the general consensus is that it is down to personal preference. I personally use both because there are times when a big hob will shift a stubborn rabbit that just can't be shifted by the smaller jills.
  23. One other thought is have you got a hob in with her? If so it could be the start of an abcess where the hob has been ragging her and it's got infected. If you havent got a hob in with her I'd go with it being a tick and would frontline it
