  1. Ive also got 12. 6 experienced and 6 of which are this years kits. It should make for an interesting years ferreting
  2. I live in bedfordshire and they are a real pest there a literally thousands of them. They cause road traffic accidents and massive crop damage. Because they don't have a mating season as such they can breed 2 or 3 times a year. Yes they do look cute and sweet but they are a non native species and should be eradicated. (That's only my opinion though)
  3. Nice looking kits mate i do like the look of the light brown polecat in the centre of the first pic where abouts are you?
  4. This is just a short post thanking Chilli for his help in getting me some kits. Unfortunately mine were eaten by their first time mothers and I was after some new blood. A pm, a few phone calls and a couple of dodgy looking liaisons in a supermarket car park has seen me gain 4 cracking kits. They are all well handled and in excellent condition and a total credit to him........... Cheers mate
  5. Sorry to hear about your loss mate. This weather can be a great killer of ferrets
  6. ebay have them for sale occasionally but your better off making one yourself all you need is a drill and some basic hand tools a sheet of 12mm external ply a couple of hinges and a couple of catches. Should take you an hour or two
  7. Glad to see that your acne has cleared up now chilli it must have been hard for you as a kid looking like that :11: :11: nice fish though
  8. A ferret is fully grown at 6 months and will be able to reproduce after that time but due to the fact that a ferrets season is enduced by the hours of daylight it is unlikely to come in season until it is a year old +. With regards to getting them ready carry on doing what you are doing but dont feed them too many day old chicks because they dont contain enough vitamins and depending on where they come from can contain chemicals. You will be able to work them this season but dont expect them to be fantastic workers straight away, that comes with experience..... Hope this helps.
  9. She looks like a little cracker does she spray very much like the wild ones do??
  10. Couldn't agree more Frank, I think all the bad press that F.K. gets is a bit O.T.T. Everyone makes mistakes and it takes a man to learn from them. I know the guy is young and has made mistakes but hopefully he has learnt his lesson.
  11. IMHO the only way to to stop them biting is to handle them. Flicking them only causes aggresive behaviour, like with us humans if someone intentionally hurts us we will fight back. Soft handling and soft words is what i was told by my grandad 20 years ago and i still believe that now.
  12. Barbecued ferret i will have to try that........ nice looking ferret
  13. I use chudleys ferret food its £23for 15kg and can be ordered online
  14. They will be fine too work this year around about Sept, October but November, December would be a more realistic time to work them. I would personally try them out for the first few times on very small buries. If you get them running through pipes now they will be used to tight dark spaces and will enter the bury through curiosity and more easily. Don't expect them to be 100% straight away it will take a few trips and a bit of patience but once they get to know that there is potential food down there, there will be no stopping them. One other thing is to get yourself some flea and tick spray
  15. I think its the dogs you wont be disappointed. If you get one now you can use the next couple of months getting used to it
  16. --> QUOTE(mel b @ Jun 21 2006, 07:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i can't do ebay , it's all i can manage to post on here try some of the older jewellers, the ones that fix watches thats where i used to get mine from
  17. why do you want to put them on tuna for???????
  18. Nice looking set up there mate. One thing id suggest is to put a lid on your nest box they prefer to be enclosed, i think they feel safer.
  19. Ive never been bitten by a wild rabbit but I did get bitten by a pet rabbit on my finger and still have the scar it actually jumped up and bit me.

no an albino hob over the polecat jill mate why so was i mate ive never had one this colour before good luck with your mate all the best Lol that one always tickles me im a daft git lol just look for the "Belly button bit" if its there its a lad they all have little dots like teats around the bubble in the middle of the belly they must be jills
  22. I use a mixture of both woodshavings and hay. I find that straw is too sharp and hard for the ferrets. I put down a thick base of wood shavings and a big ball of hay they love digging through it and in the end it all mixes together.and they drag it into their beds
