  1. Super pics mate and a nice bag of bunnies . Do yourself a favour wrap some insulation tape around the collar when your using them because they can get water in them and short out the batteries.
  2. :11: Thats the name of mine becuse the wife wouldnt let me name the dog Cat.
  3. Pheasants that have been reared and to some extent wild ones which are drawn into the feeders are fed on corn which contains medicine this medicine could be causing the ferrets digestive problems. I'm not saying it is the cause but it is food for thought if you excuse the pun.
  4. Nice bag there but isnt that hen a little on the young side?
  5. Nice eating there matey. I ws out shooting today we had 16 french and 2 english partridge
  6. At least you were out and about....Why do you not invest in a lurcher mate??
  7. I went in there tonight picked her straight up and she didnt do a thing. As a few people have said it could just be a bad mood moment...... Thanks all
  8. The only thing that was different yesterday was that id popped in for a swift . I did think was it that but i just don't know. It would be just my luck to have a ferret who was a member of alcoholics anonymous in a past life :11:
  9. This wasn't excitement mate this was down right vicious.
  10. SUSPECT!!! Fudge Packer. :11: :11: :11: :11: :11: :11: funniest thing Ive seen in ages
  11. I went to feed and clean my ferrets out tonight and as per normal a couple of them jumped out of the door, I picked the first one up and put her back but when I went to pick the second one up it went berserk. It turned around and latched on to my knuckle, sprayed and started screeching. Now I have had this ferret running around the garden literally hundreds of times and have never had a problem, I have handled her since she was a kit and have never been bitten, I checked her over and there are no visible marks and she didn't flinch or screech when i stroked her which leads me to believe there
  12. Mines not crap with ferrets & why keep any animal if your going to crib about paying the bills Could not agree more Whatever happened to finding out about the animals you are interested in keeping before you actually get them. This includes feeding, housing, bedding and veterinary treatment. It dosen't matter where you live in the country, a flick through the yellow pages will give you numerous amounts of vets and a quick call to any number of them will tell you if they have experience or not with ferrets. Yes it is expensive to go to the vets but it goes hand in hand with owning
  13. That's just wrong entering them in that early they are neither strong enough or mature enough to work at that age. They could end up getting killed or seriously injured by either a big buck or a rat and an encounter with either might put them off for life at that age. I will not start working mine until at least 6 months of age at the earliest.
  14. My condolences mate. Its horrible to lose an animal you care for
  15. This is going to sound strange but have any of you got either the flu or a standard cold?
  16. Good stuff! Now it's getting interesting Mitosis may well double per 10 degree increase in ambient temperature. Thing is (and this is imho the relevant part) how many 10 degree Celsius increases are you going to find in the UK? We're lucky if the ambient temperature is over a single 10 degrees full stop, never mind an extra 10, and another and so on which would give bacteria a chance to multiply more rapidly LOL So I wouldn't be too worried about huge multiplication in that case. As I stated in the original post, I personally have used road kill only very rarely - freshly killed for
  17. Ive used panacur in the past but I read somewhere recently that ferrets do not get intestinal worms but im not sure how accurate that information is
  18. Quite true, except it would take more than a few minutes for it to build up. Road kill is far from ideal however; freshly killed (hunted/shot) bunnies, pigeons, crows etc are much better. Must have had an enormous amount of bacteria when live, then. Bacteria only multiply every 20 minutes (by mitosis), so the numbers would "only" double in that time. That's a very small increase in bacterial terms. The live animal would have to have already been crawling in toxic bacterium to spawn a deadly amount inside 30 minutes (time for one set of mitosis) even under high heat and other condu
  19. Sorry but this subject really gets my goat. People love to bark on about feeding ferrets road kill etc etc is the best thing for them and that feeding them dry food is only done by "lesser" people who are basically neglecting their animals. Let me make a couple of points. 1. Road kill, unless it is minutes old can develop high levels of bacteria especially e-coli and botulism (both of which are lethal to ferrets). In hot weather this can be as quick as 30 minutes or less. 2. A ferret is a domesticated animal not a wild one and just like the dog has had its diet adapted. Do all these people s
  20. Sorry to hear about your loss mate. What are you feeding them?
  21. Id wait until the trees are down first mate. If you are going to keep animals they should be kept in the best possible housing and conditions.
  22. Havent you heard of waterproofs???????
