  1. what if all the molehills are already frozen solid? and you have no nice sifted soil to use? Take off the crust and at ground level the soil will be friable. Thats what I've been doing all day..... But if the molehills totally frozen the ground will be too so you can't trap anyway as the probe won't go in....so go home and put your feet up, or concentrate on other species....IMO
  2. Simple.....just build a mole hill on top of the trap, the soil will protect it from a freeze-up and it won't effect firing.....job done..... I also use this set when trapping public places such as car parks, schools and sports pitches. No one would ever think to look under a molehill for a trap....out of sight out of mind.....
  3. Nice looking dog, you should be proud of him. He showed his true grit, take it easy for the rest of the season and next year he'll be a real 'un!
  4. All muntjac north of the Humber have gotten there by vehicle. IMO.
  5. Great pics.......I've sharpened the top one up a bit for ya.........
  6. If you're good at it, do it yourself and earn the cream, not sip the curdle.Courses are not essential, like Matt says, a piece of parer ain't going to earn you a living. Your brains got to do that....
  7. This one knows that somethings amiss....... moments later his buddy ran the gauntlet and it was goodnight!
  8. When I get a spare minute I am going to look into the financial side to producing some Imbra's. Just as I think it would be a good thing to do. I reckon people would still buy them....
  9. Don't dust down your 330's yet! I think i am correct in saying that the beavers won't have legal protection insofar as they won't be named on a species list, nor protected by said list. HOWEVER, they cannot be legally trapped as they will not be on the quarry list either......
  10. I think a Badger/ fox would more likely pull free from a trap before pulling a steel peg JD! (JMHO) Of course when Squirrel trapping there's plenty to tie off to, so its probably a lot handier than carrying pegs or anchors around! Hi, read my post again, I meant that the fox or badger would run off with the trap and it's catch. Not that a for or badger would get caught in the traps.
  11. I also like to wire them up as I find it easier to take out dead vermin and reset them. Also a wire type off would be safer than a stake I should think, if a fox or a badger was working the line and tried to run off with a trap and its contents...
  12. Great vid...it's a shame to have to put the disclaimers in because of that busy body Jeff Nichols...Keep em coming!
  13. what type of dog do you use yours on JD ? Atb AT Lurcher...........
  14. I have a stovax. We fitted it ourselves. very easy to do. Can't believe lads are charging people £700+ to fit one! Now I've turned into a right wood scrounger!
  15. Id love to have a dog carry what it catches . You know what I mean...they can't carry everything they catch. but me and my dog have a deal. If he catches and can't carry , then I will. Seems to suit us just fine..... :victory:
  16. Once they conditioned to it, then they do it for life. They know no other way. They're coming back, so they may as well carry what they caught......just my take on things.....
  17. Like i said, i would forget any retrieves, concentrate on a perfect recall. Let him have a favourite teddy or rubber toy or tennis ball....... let him get obsessed with it... but do not do any retrieving at all......Once you have the pup there then drop me a pm.....
  18. To be honest mate...there's nowt decent for that budget...... maybe a 100mm, f 2.8 and a 2x converter.... in the camera world, you get what ya pay for.......
  19. Best photo I ever did take was with a 18-5 kit lens......
  20. I will never be without a collar, especially when travelling distance.
  21. Stephanie Mills...'Never knew love like this before'...
  22. I think I'm right in saying that the collars will work, BUT not if you upgrade them.
  23. The fenn rabbit is a better trap than the mk6, the shape of the jaws have alot to do with it IMO. It also kills squirrels stone dead with better results too, though they are not legal to use on squirrels. I would say that it would be almost impossible to use a DOC for rabbits. The legal box makes this trap a white elephant. Which is a shame. But I have no doubt that it would flatten the biggest of rabbits with ease. Squirrels do not even flick their tail. Its a superb trap, just restricted by the foolish legislation that some fool deemed neccessary. I've loads to do yet, but i'm a bit too bus
