  1. looks like an oystercatcher to me
  2. Hi Chartpolski I also ordered a collar off SS the other day, my second bull cross collar... ive also had terrier couples and slip leads and every time the service has been top notch. No messin! I also really apreciate the fact that you can customise your collars to your own spec.... and bloody hell these collars can take some serious grief. top man, top service by the way charti... your pup looks a real belter, good luck with it
  3. couldnt say about the one youve been offered, but I see one working every season, on the pheasant, partridge and grouse, id say it suits its owner very well, it is remarkably steady, and just plods about in front, has an awesome nose, and a solid point. Im not sure if this is characteristic of the breed or if its just this one. Bit too slow for me, and dosent range too far, Id like a dog of pointer breeding to sweep wide if needed. It finds everything in fromt of its handler though, credit to her and the dog.
  4. keep hard at em... only this morning i witnessed a magpie pulling fledgeling house sparrows out of a gutter in the village
  5. should do well in the right hands, keep us posted
  6. Cant see the problem, Its a fake egg on a fenn trap... was a commonly used trap for corvids... big deal... its a relic of trapping lore... and nice to see and talk about In my opinion
  7. Ive been using a Brinsea Octagon 20, with decent results in the past, depending on fertility. But for my next venture I was wanting something a little more profesional... something that will incubate and hatch up to 2 - 300 eggs... anyone on here got experience with any decent models of this size? by the way... if anyone wants to buy my old incubator pm me...
  8. correct me if im wrong, but the Jagd terrier was created from BRITISH working terriers! wasnt it?
  9. Nice read Dan, thanks for posting
  10. Ive never done much grey squirrel trapping with humane kill traps, as I have reds in my area, and the ammount of rabbit trapping ive done with fenn type traps is amateur in comparison to some on here... BUT, ive trapped thousands of stoats, weasels and rats, with the fenn traps, mainly mk4, and find that if they are placed in a suitably fitting tunnel weather natural or home made, the proportion of good clean kills is pretty good. Most are caught with head/neck or at least an upper chest strike. I have caught a few mink and ferrets, and found that they didnt have the power to deliver a clea
  11. For eggs... my faves are Leghorns, especially the white variety... 1 egg per day. For meat I liked to cross breeds like sussex, orpington, rhode island red with an indian game cockerel... For sheer character its got to be the modern game could sit and watch these birds all day long... this wee cock ruled the roost, and would see of old english, shamo, orpington, and rhodey cocks for fun, as he was small he ducked under most attacks then jumped on top... :aikido:
  12. We recon it was bigger last year & this buck has been knowen to the keeper for a few years & thought it was time to take him this year. spot on mate... its just I work a little differently, I just shoot young bucks and a few old beasts, I dont take many, so like to leave the best about... sorry if I sounded like I was having a dig, I certainly wasnt, and man Id be feckin buzzing about dropping a beast like that! hope ye had a good laugh about that MJ Robson, dont patronise me just because I have different management practice
  13. Ideally my young stock will be out with us when a catch is made, and may, or may not take part... some seem to take to biting quarry earlier than others... i never rush them. My 3 year old bully lurcher self entered at 7 month single handed, but was an accident... he coped fine and never looked back, but a different dog could have been put off, and maybe even ruined from such an early encounter.
  14. Looking good mate! This was my garden ..... I miss having my own veg Your gonna enjoy eating all that, and no doubt feel ten times better for it!
  15. Thats a mighty Roe there mate, shame he didnt see the rut this year, but I suppose paying clients must be kept happy. Thanks for sharing
