  1. Im flat out in Northumberland, and I belive im having a good impact on their numbers. Its well known that the greys favour the broadleaves, so if we want to keep the reds alive in england, we need to try our best.
  2. I feed every evening, if the lurchers are lamping they get fed after.
  3. Im with you mate, most areas are over-run with the feckers!
  4. I seen your other post aswell FD cracking shot on the paired foxes, that is something ive never seen before. How many fallow were shot on the day? regards DnN
  5. You will definately NOT permanently lose your dogs OR your vehicle for rabbiting with dogs!! FACT!!! Its a totally legal form of pest control. I reckon if you spend some time visiting some local farms you could easily find new land. Operating within the law, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, dont be scared about the fact that the pigs might be hard to deal with, which is usually the case... things are bound to level out in the future and hopefully calm will be restored in the countryside. There is only the Labour government to blame for all this chaos, so at least once they have go
  6. Cant belive I havent seen your thread until now Ned! Just read the whole thing and it was a great read, thanks for sharing! Your type of dog look very useful too... My sister lives near Brisbane, and im planning on visiting her in the next year or two, Ive had a fair few invites from different people for pig and deer hunting, I cant wait! Keep the stories and pics coming!
  7. How can you buy a real scent? There is no way of bottling the actual scent of a live fox! You can only make/obtain or buy something that either smells of fox, or comes out of a fox.... if its for laying a drag, i used to train my bushers to hunt a line when they were wee pups, i used to stuff fresh fox tails into a big pop bottle, and fill with water, then leave it for month or more, the resulting liquid was very 'foxy' indeed and worked a treat for what i wanted it for.
  8. I consider myself very lucky, and extremely grateful for my pup off chipper. She has been an absolute pleasure to work and keeps suprising me all the time. I can echo the same qualities of exeptional nose, marking and hunting ability. Took to ferreting like a duck to water at a young age, and has shown that she will be far more than just a ferreting dog. Chipper is a gentleman I hold in very high regard.... if im half the dog-man he is, im happy man
  9. I seen this on antiquesweb forum, this fella is obviously a fan of their work. I havent a clue what those objects are for, but im sure someone on here will know, possibly old trap collector? Heres the post on the other forum: regards DnN
  10. Very pleased for you , she looks like a well put together bitch. I hope she does well for you
  11. Ive also got an aincient copy of it... Its quite an entertaining read
  12. If i waited for mates to breed litters, for a pup, i would simply not have many dogs! Most of my pups have been bought in, but from genuine lads who bred for the right reasons. Its not hard to aviod the peddlers! In my opinion they are not bad people for selling their surplus pups to genuine homes. And I have no complaints about any of the stock ive bought in.
  13. Sounds like my one, is it the colour of a weimeraner dog? They must be rarer than the albino's, as this is the only other one ive heard about.??
  14. I dont come accross many antis in my area, but one time that stands out was an occaision when we were trying to cull some black backed gulls that were flighting up the river. I managed to drop one into the fast flowing water, which the spaniel went out to retrieve. He managed to get it back in, and as I was being given the bird a loud voice from the other bank shouted YOU CRUEL b***%*d! I said, ''wrong'' and a lengthy arguament started. He then threatened to swim accross and shoot me if I shot another one!! He just sat on the far bank, waiting... I thought, f**k it, and got back into my ma
  15. Last season I caught 2 albino moles and a silver mole. This season ive had another albino mole so far. Its always a nice suprise to lift one out
  16. 100% with you mate never right in the head , blowing a dog away in front of you, if you can live with that after all the service its give to you , and partnership through the years then on your mind be it. i will lay mine to sleep the same way they come in , the body intacted. shooting is humane but i wouldnt want to see the after math , it would be some thing i wouldnt get out of my head. my dogs are my family and i couldnt do that to any one in my family no point getting soft when the deed needs to be done you have to think of the dog first. Which way would YOU rather go, by your
  17. not sure if they are colour blind or not, but they bolt into bright coloured nets just fine! No worries there
  18. I agree with what your saying comanche! If I was doing a rat job, around farm buildings or domestic garden etc where there could be a pet cat, id make double sure the trap was housed in a tunnel that would specifically target the problem species and deny the cats entry. However, my origional post on here, was that pet cats get away with far too much, and in my humble opinion, should not be allowed free reign to do as they please. If the law allowed the destruction of cats causing damage on private property, their owners would certainly think twice about letting their vermin wander the country
  19. Like many others, ive met loads of like minded people through this site. There are always some good reads to find, with excellent pictures. Id like to think ive helped one or two less experienced than myself, and likewise, ive recieved good help and advice when ive needed it. At the end of the day, id rather sit on THL than sit in front of the telly watching crap anyday! Im very grateful to Ian B for creating the site, and long may it continue. regards DnN
  20. Put my name on the band waggon too The laws relating to cats need to be fixed IMO, the people who own such vermin as pets should not let them go on other peoples property shittin, and killing our birds and animals
  21. looks like a different one possibly? Nice photos! Ive never seen one like this. But ive shot a corbie with white wings.
