  1. Is that at John H's fieldsports shop? yea i think so it is at a shop, its on twice a year we went last year and there was a good turn out. do you know what date its on? I dont know, but Iv been keen to go and see Johns new shop since it opened so would like to find out.
  2. lovely pics kay in my area the curlews and lapwings have started congregating inn their breeding areas, will be a late start for the lapwings this year, still a lot of snow about up here.
  3. Aaron, they are very popular here in the North of England, with both the grouse and the pheasant keepers, a few of my beaters had this cross, and by all accounts they were very good gun dogs. Steady, yet eager hunters, that seamed to have the best of both worlds, much keener in cover than the pure labs, and from what ive heard easily trained and keen to please. I was seriously tempted to get one once, but i went down the cocker spaniel route instead, (with no regrets). Might be a dog for the future though, as ive always got a gun dog about the place. Good luck with yours mate
  4. PUNCH WAS AN OK DOG BUT NOT TESTED OVER MANY SEASONS,HIS NAME WAS BUILT UP BY A FEW PEOPLE BUT HOW MANY FOX PRE BAN DID THIS DOG REALEY SEE??????????? You must have seen the dog work plenty of times then, to give that statement??
  5. I just dont like them, I wouldnt even buy one I dont think. Not sure what they offer a profesional, surely they are aimed at the domestic market?
  6. Shes growing a treat and is looking like a really nice stamp of a clumber. credit to you
  7. They rear much better under a banty than in incubator, I would keep them with poultry any day if they are free range and have space to spare, but they may well wander off. The ones ive had were put to the woods, and they held very well where I wanted them.
  8. There may be some truth in what you say mate. But i can only comment on myself and the lads I know, and there are still plenty of genuine lads keeping terriers for 1 reason only and that is to work them. This wont change. Therefore it doesnt matter what anyone else does with their dogs, sell em for big bucks, breed off non workers, hunt them rosettes, i cant do anything about it, so im not going to worry about it, it doesnt effect me or my terriers.
  9. Theres nothing wrong with the working terriers today, at least not the ones i see working. There will always be divvys, money grabbers and the show lot involved with working terriers, but they dont effect me so its not a concern of mine. I know the real terriers are safe in the right hands and always will be.
  10. Im pretty much the same, mine get alsorts of game and vermin
  11. we should just make a forum for all the know it alls..... but the thing is, it would be pretty empty, because they wouldnt have anything to rip into or slate, and none of them ever put up decent threads anyway! ha only messing FD, but this site is for RETARDS too, so maybe we should all try and give good advice, pass on knowledge, and try to help them out?
  12. Haha my lad is 18 months now, and full of beans, great fun though..... congratulations scent! And all the best for the future
  13. great pics mate, lurcher looks a cracker
  14. er, im not sure what you mean, but im guessing your asking if we dug the foxes... no they bolted mate.
  15. You will be better sticking to things that you shoot, as well as the ribbits your ferret provides, rather than pet dog or cat food. Eggs are good now and then though.
  16. Thats how we breed em here mate, see it means we get less chat out of em, and more action!
  17. i havent read the whole thread yet, but this creased me up! mint
  18. pointless thread really, EVERY decent terrier NEEDS a good nose.
