Lasers (In the 1980's were called Lazer, with a 'Z' and then also sported nickel plated brass). Yep anyway I got a 500 brick at the CLA about 10 years ago and still have a few boxes left, they are my 'go to' copper washed HV round, even though they spelled the name differently and have a plain brass case. My best accuracy round however is the GECO 22l.r. RIFLE 40gr solids, Red box with the picture of an Biathlon 'bloke' on it, these are the ultimate tack driver ammo in my rifle (SAKO Finnfire Varmint, cut to 16") 4 shots at 75yards off a bipod & bag nearly always a sin

Yes NOISE?? I use Subsonic virtually always these days (Winchester & RWS), however when 'we' had loads of Rabbits in South Devon 1995 until 2003, I used to nearly always use Winchester Lazer HV, and to be honest the rabbits didn't seem at all bothered by the crack delivered by same? I only started to routinely use Sub's because of new Neighbours, Horsey folk and so on, as they probably were best served by not knowing I was about, and this remains my M.O. The Rabbit population here has just about disappeared ? Where back in the day I could shoot 20+ in 15 minutes, now it takes me

I have a .177 carbine HW100, had it maybe 10 years, from new it would index only 'sometimes' between shots, and my fault I didn't take it back to the retailer cos I am a 'MUPPET' and anyway apart from that it was (and is) the best airgun I have ever touched. Anyway I recently took it down to Helston Gunsmiths, with the above 'problem' and Rommel (dear of him) took it on, and £45 later returned it to me working, I took it home put a 14 round mag in cycled it and for 8 to 10 shots it functioned flawlessly, then oh dear didn't work, so I took it back and Rommel apologetically tried again, to

OK As a reloader with 3 centrefire rifles, I choose the 22.250 because it uses large rifle primers, and has the same bolt head as my other guns (.270 & 7x57). If you don't reload then it really doesn't matter, but I do so that's my natural choice. Anyway I've had a .223 and also 3 different 22.250's the .223 uses 'small' rifle primers and the cases are comparatively 'fragile' compared to the thicker more robust 22.250 ones. These are 'practical' issues and do not address the difference between the two if any, in my case the .223 rifle I bought was new but of 'modes

Got my Sako Finnfire Varmint cut down to 16". Excellent, still one ragged hole @ 70 yds with GECO 42gr solids, & under 1" with either Winchester Subs or Eley HP subs. Cut it down, you wont regret it. AndyF

Hi: Had a Predator 8 on my .270 for years. Yes they are a bit bulky, but work extremely well, .270 is a beast well tamed (it needs to be). With the strip down facility on balance probably one of the most practical available. Newer versions are 'prettier' other brands definitely look nicer (Hardy Gen 2 on my 22.250). But it does what it says on the tin very well. AF

Sounds good to me. x24 is a bit 'fruity' for most, I have variables but all set on x8 by default, then I'm not on a sandbag and most of my stuff is sub 200yds and I have 4 to 10 seconds to shoot or not! Focus is the thing on high mag I wouldn't have the luxury of Far***g around to get things set up. But if it works for you then you've got it right. AF

Them 'Velocitors' are the dogs, yes a bit 'cracky' but spot on and regular, way better than Stinger. Luckily I picked up a 500 brick years ago at the CLA, still got a few boxes left.

OK What your really asking is a moderator I bought non FAC for an airgun & can I use it on a 22 rimfire for which I don't have an FAC condition, but the thread is compatible. Answer is YES as long as it's made of metal, not plastic, the pressures generated by a rimfire are miniscule compared to a centrefire. The SAK is a good example, they can be bought in 'airgun' mode, but (of course) they are exactly the same as the 'on ticket' FAC type. Such is the totally ridiculous 'crap' of our Firearms licencing rules, moderators should be what they are an expensive bit of

any one with a cz 527 223 using 5.56 rounds

YES No problem, don't believe the 'advice' you hear from the "health & safety' hordes?? You can shoot that ammo for ever , that said because it's MIL ammo it's crap so don't expect good accuracy (cos you won't get it). Anyway if your serious get some decent ballistic tip/hollow point, in 55gr and start from there. AndyF -
The cracked neck? is that before or after firing? If it's after no problem, your not reloading and the cases are scrap! If before you need to take them back to the 'shop' as that is unacceptable. AndyF

Yes: You have make your own shot or get it elsewhere for next to nothing otherwise it's a non starter. I bought a Lee Loader in America about 17 years ago, only because I reload 3x centrefire cartridges and thought i'd give it a go simply for the hell of it. I recently got some #4 lead shot for a good price, I personally only load 'fresh' cases not reloading fired ones, but whatever I have 700+ felt wad 32gr #4's ready for decoying this harvest season. I use a 1970's vintage fixed choke Winchester OU skeet gun, Imp Cyl both barrels for Pigeons, and whilst I normally u

What damage are Foxes doing on GOLF course??? Apart from keeping down the Rabbits that F***k up the greens then??
-
Again Whatever: Not being critical, not judging anyone else, you should and must do your own thing. In this time frame I don't shoot anything living, Fox comes in about July when this years are hunting for themselves & therefore impinging on 'my territory' then they are 22.250 fodder. But please don't get on one, your way is YOUR WAY mine is a bit different, but at the end of the day we are both at it! Best of luck!! AndyF
-
Whatever! For myself; I never shoot Fox when there's cubs in the ground, not getting sentimental for sure. But that's me. Do what you want but I sleep easy.
-
Try CCI Velocitor (if you've not already), best HV round out there IMO. AndyF
-
Whatever, the best solution is that the object bell is almost touching the barrel. I had a 223 CZ527 and I got some set back low 30mm Sports-Match mounts that were excellent. AndyF

Well: I've tried most brands over the years (37) in 5 different rifles. Anyway in 2018, Win subs previously my choice, new stuff is degraded?? RWS are still OK The best (i.e. most accurate) are GECO 42gr solids, why?? Not good for live quarry & ricochet for England (Oh dear). So at this time I have some old Win Subs in reserve. AndyF

Hi! Yes reloading is a good way to go, but don't come into it expecting 'cheap' ammo, but DO expect excellent ammo! It's also a 'hobby' in it's own right, like fly tying (another of my side lines), you can brew-up your own version(s) of standard mass produced 'fodder'. No commercial ammo is particularly well made, yes the expensive types are made to a better standard, and use 'premium' components, particularly bullets, but at the end of the day it's thrown out of a clunky 'sausage machine' designed to be profitable, nothing wrong with that, and the 'best' branded ammo

Hi: I've also got a Wildcat on my .270, but a Hardy Gen2 on my 22.250, the Hardy is really very good it has open spiral ports at the front, it's lightweight and slim, the only downside I can see is that you cant strip it down, that said the .270 is a real thumper, the 22.250 is a mild cracker by comparison. The Hardy cost around £210 I think? AF

Chokes & 'BIG' shot. How about this then, I used to belong to a beagle fox pack (gone now F#### the greens & Tony Blair) anyway I reloaded my own AAA & SSG, in my (still got it) Berretta A303, I found by decent testing that the tighter the choke the WIDER the 'pattern' got?? Best was the cylinder bore, those SSG would smash through thick brush and take down a 50 yard Charlie, well you only needed to catch him with one. Did I say 'pattern' more like footprint. Hee Hee. I shoot a .270 and a 7x57, as said previously you won't get a runner from a .270 (I haven't anyway & I've shot my fair share). Although the 130gr is the 'usual' load mine works much better with home load Sierra 150gr soft points, heart/lungers go right through but create a veritable mishmash in the bullet path. By the way my .270 is Browning A Bolt Medalion left hand blue not stainless (spazzy-me), had it from new, Leupold Premier Scope, Wildcat Predator 8, can't miss out to 200. AF

Ok ; a 22.250 is fine, I've got one and although its not deer legal here, if I could I'd use it for Roe with fast expanders. But it's not so instead I go for 'bigger is better' I use either a 7x57 or .270Win, I've shot lots and NEVER had a runner so I guess that covers it? AndyF

Unusual best in my Sako Finnfire Varmint 16"bbl, GECO solid 42gr, target ammo but oh dear 5 shot single hole groups at 50 yds, bipod plus bench though! Not suggesting hunting with these. I do and they're ok, but their worst sin is they ricochet VERY BADLY. Other than that I use Winchester Subs, RWS Subs and Eley Subs. On the HV front I have yet to better the Velocitor they are in the same zone as the GECO, but potentially annoy the 'neighbours' so don't get used very often. AF

Ok get some spray lube and fire it right up inside the sizing die, also all of the cases. The first one is always a bit 'tight' but this coats the die etc and the rest should be ok
