  1. In the Southwest (Devon & Cornwall) I expect to pay £35+ for a 500 brick of the 'good' stuff (Eley, Winchester, RWS). A bit less for Remington, Magtec, or CCI. Cheap stuff is ok for plinking and general 'faffing about, in bolt rifles it doesn't matter much, but if you have a semi-auto forget it, the cycling on Sub's is bad enough anyway, without using crud ammo. I found Reminton Subs yielded many more 'runners' on Rabbits than the other brands and too many ricochets, my conclusion is that the bullets are harder lead, and also have a tiny hollow point cavity, I think they go straight thr
  2. Again the SAK is as good as most others, it's light, not to big, can be stripped and re-assembled easily. I have tried most 'common' sorts over the years, before 'they' put them on the FAC's. None of them was 'quieter' than any of the others in my opinion, use decent ammo is my advice, my choice either Winchester Subs or RWS sub's not the cheapest but .22 is cheap anyway! I have a 17 Whisper on my .17HMR, it's very nice, but not 4 times the price (£125.00) 'nicer' than the SAK it replaced. Get a SAK mate. My Sako Finnfire Varmint has a black SAK on it & barrel cut down to 16 1/2" inc

  4. Iv'e been out 'Foxing' a lot over the last 6 weks. I shoot a .270Win Browning A-Bolt Medalion + Leupold LPS 4,5 14x50, for the 'Fox' 110gr V-Max Hornady on 59grns R22, Plus Wildcat 'Predator-8' sound moderator (dogs Boll**). I have noticed that the Rabbits are the thing to watch when waiting in your concealed location, they are better qualified to 'see' for you, last Tuesday I saw four or five stop feeding and stand up in a 'worried' stance, I thought they had seen me, but No. Foxy came lurking up the mown hay edge in the direction they were looking, bad luck Reynard I saw you first, dear! d
  5. Don't even think of buying a NightForce in the USA, very expensive, I go to USA every year and usually buy 'something for the weekend' when there. Look at 'Bearbasin' on the web, the best deals are on Leupold as they are manufactured in USA. Also I looked at the Nikkon Monarch Gold 2,5>10x56 this was a very nice 30mm tube scope, in the end I settled for a Leupold VX3 4.5>14x50 Varmint Ret. I also have a an LPS 3,5>14x50 and a VX3 6.,5>20x50 these are superb top quality glass, NightForce are very good, but if you shop in the US Leupold is the one, By the way check out the leupold
  6. I had a CZ 527 in .223, couldn't hit a garage door from 20 feet, looked OK, but was rubbish, the CZ rimfires are the 'dogs but centrefires I don't think so. I started reloading when I had the .223 so maybe I was a bit 'rough' here and there but I've been tainted. My mate has a 22.250 Savage BVSS it is really super accurate, so recomended, but it weighs 8,5lbs before you put a scope and moddy on, so if you fancy it get down the gym or hire a bearer. My CZ 17hmr 16" carbine is unbelievable, this afternoon I shot a rabbit from 194 Yards (Laser Measured) I just held off one bar on the Varmint R
