  1. Hope he had the approved bb shot for scumbags as number six just stings ,apparently. We ought to have a whip round for an off ticket shotty for the old boy ,only joking of course.
  2. Nice one lads and a lesson learnt hopefully .i know of one terrier that never came round ,good do though .
  3. When youve finished with them mate ,id like them back please .Short term loan my arse, lol.
  4. Yes mate -94 deer from last christmas and 51 foxes so far same period .Last year was very similar but the year before that saw 175 deer grassed and 79 foxes shot .Time is the only factor against good bags here and not lack of game mate
  5. Called in to see a landowner that ive not been to for a while ,its where i shot the very tall spiker for those dedicated followers, lol. He insisted that he took me around the farm as hes one or two deer about [understatement] We went in the truck but i wish wed walked as we bumped a good few off the land as its only 150 acres in all.We saw 14 roe in all including three cast bucks but mostly does .The body weights this year are very good despite the cold spell and from what i saw these were no exceptions .Drove back to the farm and had a cuppa and a chat then i got ready and set off on foot
  6. Whats with all the nigger talk ffs .This is England.
  7. I have other people doing the work for me mate as you know .Some of us had the forsight when younger to let others graft while we do the more demanding work of stalking and fishing etc.You too could be an entrepreneur if you tried Ps if you wernt so hard on the deer and let them get their whole body out the wood then maybe you would shoot more.
  8. The best results come from building the trap bit by bit .Build a corner section and bait heavily then add another side whilst still baiting and the birds are using it .Add the other side so they have to first perch on the tops before dropping in .Keep the same bait that you intend to use for a final catch .Put the lid on but not the ladder and let them use it for a day or two. Finally add the ladder .Empty the trap at night or you will catch no more .Leave a few birds in but provide water and you will then catch regularly but always empty the trap at night .Also forgot to say that its best to a
  9. Give me a ring mate as i never saved your number
  10. Set out at first light to get to a bit of ground i have before meeting Martin at 9 am.Very still with another overnight frost but surprisingly quiet underfoot . Walkd up the track to the first fields and saw a fox cross a gateway two feilds over .I got my back to a bush ,rifle on sticks and squeaked .The reaction was instant and charlie trotted in perfect to about 50 yds where i stopped him and shot him through the chest. Stalked on but glassed only two seperate 4 point bucks [where were they 2 months ago! ].Met Martin and off we headed to another farm i have .Martin was to get the first
  11. Excellent thread and one to be encouraged .Duckwing, as usual blunt and to the point but spot on. Never used this type of trap but can see its uses in a wide range of places.Keep refining it mate if possible, you may have a marketable product there.
  12. In my humble opinion £3 wasted as they never stay put .
  13. Recently had a call from a mate whos a keeper near me asking what can be done to stop deer knocking over feeders but short of changing the whole batch of feeders for sturdier models and fencing,we agreed that nothing short term would do the trick .We agreed that a cull was long overdue on the land and that we would start today .After other duties of feeding and topping up water stations [no mean feat this weather] it was decided that we would cover the lower ground .Just got to the first gate when mates phone rang. One very pissed off keeper had to go chop wood for the house followed by grit
  14. Two ways of looking at it though mate .Ive still not come to terms with munties on my ground and shoot them on sight as they are to me foreigners .There will be more chinkies without a doubt as they are spreading fast.
  15. The last day of the recent snow saw me unable to work so a trip out to the rape fields was in order .Arrived at 11.30 to see a field bare of pigeon .Not good but decided to set up regardless near to a copse that i know is a flight line if not a sitting point .Threw a net over a low branch and waited .Wasnt long before the first customer flew over and number one was in the bag ,followed by a left and right at crows .Set the trio up with a bit of distance between the species and no sooner had i got back in the hide than a snipe flew straight at me from the far hedgerow, jinked and provided a test
  16. Ive been dealing with a grumpy customer today that has changed things around since i priced a job but coming on here and seeing those kind offers has restored the faith a bit .The offer is from me also mate if you fancy a trip to the promise land .Morning and evening stalks are only a grand a piece and i keep all venison ,cant say fairer than that eh.
  17. I know you said its a pain in the arse mate but what a beautiful setting to wake up to .We had half an inch but its well gone now .
