  1. First class write up John.Takes a dedicated chap to sit out in that weather i know.Would you swap that .223 for anything else ,i think not
  2. Propper job mate .Always nice to have a fox in mind and to kill that fox when required to order.
  3. Thats the way it goes mate .If you think about it ,we are only on a farm for a couple of hours and thats a blink of an eye for charlie whos forever on the move .Another night you can drop on half a dozen on the same ground in that same couple of hours ,fate mate thats all .
  4. The worrying is long gone mate ,top class bitch that you can be proud of .Hes recently had a litter off her last summer but im fully stocked unfortunately. Some nice stocky pups there too .
  5. Great to see something bit different mate .Good shooting there too .I take it thats a feeder with the deer underneath but what food is in it? .Does it make much difference to antler growth or is it just an attractant?.I guess in that heat ,its straight home and butcher !
  6. One of the places i do is very near suberbia with a housing estate at the bottem end of the ground .A sloping field leads down to a stream with a patch of rough the other side ,then a footpath ,then road ,then houses. We set off on the upper fields seeing the two lamp shy foxes as usual but it was always in the back of my mind that we would find a fresh fox on the lower ground .Strange, but i almost pictured the shot and when it happened the resemblence was uncanny to be honest .My mate picked out an eye in some scrub the other side the stream,a very bright eye that could well of belonged to on
  7. If you still have my number mate ,ring me, if not pm and ill give it again .Keeper on Bowood has my number too .
  8. Thanks for the replies .Soon as the shooting season is over we will be out more.
  9. If you get stuck for a mentor mate ,tough. Only joking pm me and we can sort something im sure .Not shot over your way for a while now .
  10. Nothing wrong with a quick result mate ,i expect your arival at the seat wasnt as crunchy as you thought .Experience teaches us these things subconciously. The deer dont seem to have lost any condition at all, infact the does are the best ive seen for some years now ,all well covered and fat as houses .I sympathise with the roe sack ordeal mate preferring to drag than carry these days if i'm honest.Good to see you getting out mate .
  11. Out early on the coldest morning we've had this winter with Josh off the site and his very good bitch ,Jet.Minus 12 in the truck ! We had a place in mind that has been good to us and careful backfilling has meant its still ok.I call it the 3/4 earth because the farmer has had to fence off a corner of a field because of the subteranian activity. Its one of his lambing fields too being close the farm so an effort is made to keep the place vermin free.We are able to pull right up beside it in the truck ,always a bonus .We wandered over the earth guessing as to what it held but the footprints left
  12. If you need a guide then pm me Probably shot there in the past . Anyway mate have a good one yourself and good luck with the stalking.
  13. Just sounding you boys out mate ,a lot of idiots on here at the moment JMO mind but thats how i see it . Back to the thread and my own advice would be to leave him in a bit longer each time you dig .Some terriers go through a phase of believing they are invincible ,firing into everything knowing that you wont be long getting to them ,especially when they get short ,shallow digs .Its not the depth of dig that will sort him out but the time he spends with quarry be it a deep dig or a rooty place .Anyway mate good digging and have a good christmas.
  14. Deako is John Deacon he is part owner of decoying .co.uk Had dealings ,never again .At least dick turpin had the decency to wear a mask ,robbin c**t .
  15. It would appear by the dogs virgin face that you already know how to treat a hard dog after a dig .No chance of working him sore as he dosnt have any .The date of the pic is very recent mate and shows no scarring past or present .Strange .
  16. Hope he had the approved bb shot for scumbags as number six just stings ,apparently. We ought to have a whip round for an off ticket shotty for the old boy ,only joking of course.
  17. Nice one lads and a lesson learnt hopefully .i know of one terrier that never came round ,good do though .
  18. When youve finished with them mate ,id like them back please .Short term loan my arse, lol.
  19. Yes mate -94 deer from last christmas and 51 foxes so far same period .Last year was very similar but the year before that saw 175 deer grassed and 79 foxes shot .Time is the only factor against good bags here and not lack of game mate
  20. Called in to see a landowner that ive not been to for a while ,its where i shot the very tall spiker for those dedicated followers, lol. He insisted that he took me around the farm as hes one or two deer about [understatement] We went in the truck but i wish wed walked as we bumped a good few off the land as its only 150 acres in all.We saw 14 roe in all including three cast bucks but mostly does .The body weights this year are very good despite the cold spell and from what i saw these were no exceptions .Drove back to the farm and had a cuppa and a chat then i got ready and set off on foot
  21. Whats with all the nigger talk ffs .This is England.
  22. I have other people doing the work for me mate as you know .Some of us had the forsight when younger to let others graft while we do the more demanding work of stalking and fishing etc.You too could be an entrepreneur if you tried Ps if you wernt so hard on the deer and let them get their whole body out the wood then maybe you would shoot more.
