  1. Must get one of those easy clean terriers Got to agree with the doubters here .The blown up pic shows a very different story im afraid and that fox has been dead a while too .Edited to say that the pics also been modified in some way .Should be deleted IMO.
  2. If they are using the toilet as an entry then the problem is bigger than you first thought as they are coming from the sewers and the numbers can be huge cap the toilet off from the wall with a bung and the problem will halve straight away .
  3. Round our way you have to take the seat with you or it will be gone .Know what you mean about thieving b*****ds.Dont bother any more as its too much hassle .
  4. Totally understand mate .They are set in makeshift tunnels of brick with a timber roof .Maybe a bit tall ,well definately too tall for the mk4 but two bricks high is all i have to work with at the moment until i get time to fashion a few purpose built tunnels for the job . Is it a legal requirement to cover in a building though as i thought it was down to discretion? No non target species for sure although a stoat was seen last week and i have no desire to trap him although i feel it is only a matter of time with the fenns and the smell of rat on them . Good you picked up on the height thing t
  5. A sprinkle of breadcumb groundbait on each pan mate.
  6. Friday afternoon saw me out on the ground at 2.30 with my boy as he has time off school with some sort of teachers training .Took him to a decent bit of ground where i knew we'd see deer and sure enough we never blanked .Stalking down a hedgerow, i stopped to glass the far hedge when George nudged me and nodded to a roe backside reversing out the hedge in front of us and only about 30 yds.We froze and waited to see what would happen .The doe backed fully out and walked slowly down over a bank away from us followed by a shed buck and another doe .i was by now on sticks but couldnt get a shot
  7. In direct contrast to that mate ,i get hassled if im not dragging a deer
  8. Apparently the tremers are still being felt over there now, lol.Good shooting mate ,i was impressed to be honest ,off sticks as well .I'll find some more shit for next time as i know you love paddling about in it .
  9. Caught this today and a first for me .The rat was unfortunately caught in a fenn mk 4 by the door but by his foot only and then dragged the fenn to another trap ,a mk 6 fenn and was killed as he sprang this one .The traps are 2m apart along the wall .
  10. The same you say to your men ive heard .
  11. Got nothing to do with socialising mate .
  12. Opinions will differ from stalker to stalker depending on the aim of the cull and the experience of the man.Where numbers are a problem ,such as around us in the South ,the doe is taken first when numbers are needed, with a good chance of bagging all kids .Obviously the doe isnt shot until the kids are well up .Where deer are not just a pest then it is considered propper to take the weakest kid ,followed by the other kid if there is one and it stands . Each to their own as long as the welfare is foremost id say .The newcomer is ,however usually advised best practice which is kids first .
  13. One of our neighbours has been getting annoyed with a squirrel that runs our back fence and destroyng a bird feeder he has out so i sent my boy around with the ratcatcher yesterday afternoon with orders of not to shoot over the fence and not to come back without it !It follows a regular routine in the day .First light and mid afternoon feeding .Wasnt long before back he comes with a huge smile and his prize dangling by its tail. Im damned today if there aint another on the fence.
  14. I had one bought at the gamefair this year and used it to destruction ,literally. The connection to the battery melted so i had it hard wire soldered on but now it wont charge. Is ian still doing them ?
  15. Cheers mate but its the shooting of them we are interested in .Must be someone with a contact !.
  16. Word of warning .............................. I bought the t3 lite in .243 a couple of years ago and like you do i swapped the scope from my much used .222 to the .243 as soon as i got home ,adding a harris bipod to the setup with a veiw to getting out and zeroing that afternoon .The forend stud pulled out with the pressure from the bipod screw and the rifle fell off the sling dumping the £350 scope on the floor shattering the lens .I took it all back to the gunshop and after a lot of dithering the owner decided to send it back to tikka .They replaced the forend stud with a screw/bolt and s
  17. Do you regularly catch blacks as well as brown mate .Im thinking its a brown mutation rather than a black rat!
  18. Does anyone know of any goats around the Inverness area as a couple of us are stalking up that way in the new year and want to combine a trip ?.
  19. Out with Martin last night down at his place on the foxes .Very windy night ,ideal for running a lurcher on rabbits but not in my experience ,very good for charlie .Martin took us to a very exposed place to start with but after a few squeaks ,we both agreed it wasnt going to happen so a move as in order to the market garden which is on a hill side flanked by woods all round and what a difference ,no wind to speak of at all .The landowner here has a large flock of laying hens so fox control is just one of the tasks Martin has undertaken .After having a good call in the most likely place we move
  20. Yes mate .The look on his face when he pulls off a decent shot makes me a very proud dad .
  21. The other side of the coin is that lads are just plain wary of strangers ,i know i am .Lies and exagerations flow from one to another these days so why give fuel and more speculation to them .The only people entitled to a truthful insight are those that have proven themselves after time served on the shovel ,not just a bloke at the door . Those giving the ancestry of a boughten terrier are very loose lipped in my experience and many blatently having nothing of the sort in their yard ,they are to be steered away from .
