  1. Took a walk around a farm building i have with a view to taking out the few remaining ferals that are left as the farmer has been to a talk by the farm assured people which included a list of the worst vermin on a farm and these ferals ranked second only to rats! Hes always allowed a pair of white doves but they've had to go now as well as the blue bars.Tried the big covered yard first and the boy shot a brace from the rafters with his new rws umarex in .22.Then it was into another shed nearby and we spooked one of a pair of whites which flew off into the night but the other was accounted for
  2. Just like to say a big congratulations to Local and his wife on the birth of their new baby girl last night.
  3. To be perfectly honest mate ,im not at all bothered by it and use the rats as a reason to run a few traps all year .If at any time they get out of control i shall think about rat proofing but until then its happy trapping .
  4. At the end of the day its only a little over a mans wages to cover for the time spent with a client and not many keepers /stalkers earn more than £60 for 3 hours. The venison price is what you need to look for in getting the best from a dealer before they are shot and not from the man shooting it ,ensuring all who stalk can place a shot before going out . Tell you what ,invite me up,hinds unlimited, and i'll do you a review ,cant say fairer than that can i .
  5. £160 too steep for hind/doe culling mate hence no replies . A lot of places doing it for half that !

  8. Friday evening saw me down at a farm near me where the farmer has a zero telerance of anything not bovine .Naturally i have to use a bit of commen and shoot whats in season but still please the man .During my phone call to him earlier on in the evening he was adament that there were too many deer but trying to explain that the does wernt in season yet fell on deaf ears so a concerted effort was put in to at least down a beast and stay within the law .There are two farms here back to back and i have the shooting on both .A circuit of the other farm revealed does only but no pressure here as he
  9. Ferals around dairy cattle are deadly as they carry a range of diseases in their faeces that shows through in the milk inspection .Even iodine teat wash dosnt touch one of them [sorry names escape me now ] And by the way lads exellent shooting there.
  10. Every year i get an influx of rodents of the norwegicus [spelling]variety due in all honesty to my place of storage for the fishing kit .It gets put away covered in groundbait from bream sessions and the keepnet was full of scales .The ground bait itself was put up on a shelf but still they got to it ,that was until time came available to get a few fenns out and payback has started . This was the first last wednesday followed by a double on thursday . One in a mk 6 fenn too .Today there another brace so doing something right . One was a contender in the long running thread' King R

  14. Got invited to sit in a seat overlooking a plantation near the Marlborough Downs .Got there about 3.30pm and had a long ,long wait. The seat is on the edge of a large wood ,L shaped where i was so i was covering a V to my right and the plantation to my front with no veiw around my right hand corner but no matter .Saw 2 does early on wander through the plantation where it is sparse enough but nothing shootable until an hour before sundown or there abouts .A party of roe came out the wood to my right and at a good 200 maybe more and headed for the back of the plantation .5 does and a buck, but i c

  16. Extreme detail on that mate right down to the brisket and one to be proud of both as the shooter and stuffer
  17. Biologically they are not dependant on the mother after they are weaned but the kid needs its doe for the first winter of its life to show it where the food sources are and when they are available ,something passed down through the roe generations no doubt .Take away the dam too early and most often the kid dosnt amount to much ,even dying .Legally a deer can be shot at any age providing its in season in England but morally many prefere to see them at least full grown .In Scotland however ,where the tempatures are much lower than the South ,many roe kids do not survive their first winter and a

  21. The weather plays only part of whether or not you are good at what you do .If its windy ,charlie will want to get around you if you are calling but the smart rifle moves across to cut down the angle and nine times out of ten the fox will stop to consider its next move .In light conditions its very important to keep the lamp just at its feet so as not to startle it or allow it to see your outline if the lamps switched off .Wet weather ,you need to head for short grass as charlie wont be wanting to get his belly wet ,something to think about when calling and which way to face . Even fog can be
