    It has very little to do with the rifle its more to do with the bullet, you quote you can shoot a rabbit at 250 yards no problem, with a .22 rimfire Im sorry but you are either a very experienced shooter who can compensate for the massive bullet drop at 250 yards or alternatively its complete BS...I suspect its the latter if you think its down to the rifle, and that the Ruger cant make this kind of shot but the CZ can attitude (P.S I have both a CZ and a 10/22).     Just got back from a trip up north firstly to some ground north of Inverness and then back down to near Dumfries . Sika was the reason for the most northerly patch ,travelling up last Tuesday .The ground is leased by a gentlemen off the stalking directory site and is approximately 250 acres of forestry in some prime sika country .The first morning local and myself set off up the left side into the wind with me on the outside of the trees by the open hill Local stalked up the forest track .We both passed up roe that first morning and what a bad move that turned out to be .I saw 6 shootable

    Joined a few mates on a pig farm this morning doing the pre baiting rat clear up .One of the lads is a full time pester and likes to do as much the old fashioned way as possible.Poison is put down when we've cleared what can be done with the dogs. What weve found here is that the rats bolt readily to the flooding out with a hose pipe,using the smoker to encourage those that find an air pocket .The day started slowly around the edge of the farm with ones and twos but we were assured the fun would start nearer the middle where the dominant rats dig buries near the food .     Thats the way it goes mate .If you think about it ,we are only on a farm for a couple of hours and thats a blink of an eye for charlie whos forever on the move .Another night you can drop on half a dozen on the same ground in that same couple of hours ,fate mate thats all .

    Great to see something bit different mate .Good shooting there too .I take it thats a feeder with the deer underneath but what food is in it? .Does it make much difference to antler growth or is it just an attractant?.I guess in that heat ,its straight home and butcher !

    One of the places i do is very near suberbia with a housing estate at the bottem end of the ground .A sloping field leads down to a stream with a patch of rough the other side ,then a footpath ,then road ,then houses.We set off on the upper fields seeing the two lamp shy foxes as usual but it was always in the back of my mind that we would find a fresh fox on the lower ground .Strange, but i almost pictured the shot and when it happened the resemblence was uncanny to be honest .My mate picked out an eye in some scrub the other side the stream,a very bright eye that could well of belonged to on

    Nothing wrong with a quick result mate ,i expect your arival at the seat wasnt as crunchy as you thought .Experience teaches us these things subconciously.The deer dont seem to have lost any condition at all, infact the does are the best ive seen for some years now ,all well covered and fat as houses .I sympathise with the roe sack ordeal mate preferring to drag than carry these days if i'm honest.Good to see you getting out mate .

    Out early on the coldest morning we've had this winter with Josh off the site and his very good bitch ,Jet.Minus 12 in the truck ! We had a place in mind that has been good to us and careful backfilling has meant its still ok.I call it the 3/4 earth because the farmer has had to fence off a corner of a field because of the subteranian activity.Its one of his lambing fields too being close the farm so an effort is made to keep the place vermin free.We are able to pull right up beside it in the truck ,always a bonus .We wandered over the earth guessing as to what it held but the footprints left

    Just sounding you boys out mate ,a lot of idiots on here at the moment JMO mind but thats how i see it . Back to the thread and my own advice would be to leave him in a bit longer each time you dig .Some terriers go through a phase of believing they are invincible ,firing into everything knowing that you wont be long getting to them ,especially when they get short ,shallow digs .Its not the depth of dig that will sort him out but the time he spends with quarry be it a deep dig or a rooty place .Anyway mate good digging and have a good christmas.

    It would appear by the dogs virgin face that you already know how to treat a hard dog after a dig .No chance of working him sore as he dosnt have any .The date of the pic is very recent mate and shows no scarring past or present .Strange .
