Not 100% sure mate but i think tb is a notifiable disease in deer therefore any suspected should be examined by a vet .Im no expert but generally an animal that has the disease is very dull of cat and visably thin with no shine to the eyes .Stand out a mile away but i suppose the early stages is what you refer to .Martin will no doubt add to this as hes pretty clued up on what to look for.

A free day Friday so decided to have a look out first light .The daughters boyfriend who works for me ,has been on to me about shooting a deer for sometime now and having shot paper with me i knew he was ready for the real thing albeit under full instruction. He has always been into airguns and now has a shotgun with quarry respect top of conversations. He arrived 15 minutes early on his scooter so a cup of tea was in order before the off .Drove to a spot just out of town to where there is a few deer and where the landowner has asked for a beast for the table, arrived at 6.15 am to a perfec

The neck is jabbed in mammals because its the only area of skin for a subcutaneous [spelling] injection available that can be safely liftly away from blood vessels ,arteries, muscle .Inter muscular injection is self explanatory and is local to the troubled area. -

Must be a litter on the way lads Lines of working dogs DO matter but frankly not that far back to be honest .Some very good workers from this strain to be fair but the bullshit that goes with the real deal isnt worth a special trip to get one ive found .No more said on the subject as im still pissed off from dealings 10 years ago . -

Bit of a tale to my first stag and im sure willrockyted wont mind me relating it .Booked a weekends stalking years ago way up in the highlands which was an ALL INCLUSIVE trip priced at £450 .I was 21 at the time .Roe unlimited with a red stag thrown in ,no trophy fees .Shot several roe before the oppotunity arose for a stag way out on the moor .Being a bit green back then i took it as par for the course when we ducked under a deer fence that he assured me meant nothing more than the distinction between hill and forest .We ,the stalker and me ,set off for a distant roaring and passed up a fe

Good post mate .A lot of lads out there wont have a clue what your on about though. -
When line breeding its a matter of what gelled with what but the introduction of an outcross however tight does tend to throw in a mix, not always desirable traits either .Its the outcrossing that needs writing down .As much info on the breeding of that outcross as you can muster from the breeder and the results of subsequent litters when added to your own .Ideas come to mind when re-reading such info and i know its done me favours in the past .As for digging records ,none kept . Such things are ingrained in the memory i find and just need prompting from time to time when in like minded compan

storm & ruger 10/22 is it good?
Squirrel_Basher replied to ngbacon's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
It has very little to do with the rifle its more to do with the bullet, you quote you can shoot a rabbit at 250 yards no problem, with a .22 rimfire Im sorry but you are either a very experienced shooter who can compensate for the massive bullet drop at 250 yards or alternatively its complete BS...I suspect its the latter if you think its down to the rifle, and that the Ruger cant make this kind of shot but the CZ can attitude (P.S I have both a CZ and a 10/22). What ever your thoughts attempting to shoot a rabbit at 250 yards with a .22 rimfire is irresponsible IMO. yh what ever im -
WELL I MUST SAY IME NOT A LOVER OF PLUMMERS. IVE BIN OUT WITH SOME GUYS WHO OWN THESE SO CALLED 100PCT DIGGING PLUMMERS THERE A STRANGE BREED, NO NOT THE DOGS BUT THERE OWNERS, ITS THEM THAT BIG THERE DOGS. In a nut shell mate .Maybe we could have a plummer verses poodle bushing thread .Makes me laugh that one of you plummer lads turned my offer down purely on the wonder boy jibe . Maybe you should have your own subforum where bollocks can be talked freely all day and non workers can be compared without slatings. The fact that there are good and bad in all types pales into insignificanc

If not pics then would one of you wonder boys be available to bring your little hopefuls to Wiltshire for a dig .I have enough land to dig all day and we can avoid the deep ones .Any takers?
-
Im all for giving a man a fair hearing ,honestly i am but these threads on plummers always go the same way -no pics of dogs working to ground ,no pics of dogs recently worked to ground ,not even a plummer with soil on its back .The time has come for you devotees to get busy with the camera and dispell the doubters .Its no wonder its open season when a thread starts. Why not just admit that its a messers dog and be done with it .The other threads on any other breed are full of working pics but not so the plummers. I stick by my words that no keen dogman keeps a plummer as no plummer is keen to

Why pollute a good digging patterdale with shi7 plummer blood?? Isnt there enough crap out there in the terrier world without breeding more? QUICK get another book written do as i say, not as i do there are still a few good kennels of plummers and x's out there but these days no one writes about them a good thing as most terrier scribes are full of and just out to make money from the sport a cracking looking dog Dai, there was a lot of putty nosed ones around before the show mob Ok MD, If Plummers are so good, then why are the working (and i use that term

Just got back from a trip up north firstly to some ground north of Inverness and then back down to near Dumfries . Sika was the reason for the most northerly patch ,travelling up last Tuesday .The ground is leased by a gentlemen off the stalking directory site and is approximately 250 acres of forestry in some prime sika country .The first morning local and myself set off up the left side into the wind with me on the outside of the trees by the open hill Local stalked up the forest track .We both passed up roe that first morning and what a bad move that turned out to be .I saw 6 shootable

Joined a few mates on a pig farm this morning doing the pre baiting rat clear up .One of the lads is a full time pester and likes to do as much the old fashioned way as possible.Poison is put down when we've cleared what can be done with the dogs. What weve found here is that the rats bolt readily to the flooding out with a hose pipe, using the smoker to encourage those that find an air pocket .The day started slowly around the edge of the farm with ones and twos but we were assured the fun would start nearer the middle where the dominant rats dig buries near the food . Heres some pics, hop
