  1. I'm not talking about Lurchers in general; I'm on about Saluki Hybrids and Non-Ped Whippets, which DO breed true to type. Cheers.
  2. Lurchers & long dogs are so diverse in their breeding; anything from a Beddy/Whippet to a Wolfhound/Greyhound is a "Lurcher", or "Longdog", but two strains stand out as specialists, and can trace their breeding back as far, if not farther than some Pedigrees; the Saluki Hybrid Coursing dog and the Non - Ped Whippet. Should these dogs be considered breeds in their own right ? There are Coursing men who think so, also some Whippet men think their dogs have the breeding history and specialisation to be considered breeds seperate from "Lurchers". I'm not talking K.C. recognisation; that way li
  3. They'll be the same as the Scottish brown hare too then I've never ran Scottish hares either...but one or two Border hares may have made it across the border before they were caught !! LOL !! Cheers.
  4. I ran BROWN hares in Ireland last year; and they were every bit as good as English brown hares. Wasn't lucky enough to see any Irish Hares. Cheers.
  5. A good dog, or a good bitch, no difference ! Either will do the job ! Cheers.

  12. No, it's not photoshopped, it's just an extreme example of double muscled whippet. They crop up quite regularly in non-ped Whippets; I've had two over the years, one by Red Baron out of a Greyhound bitch and one by Haymaker out of a half x grew. There is one running at my local track just now, it's litter sister is only 18lb and looks like a pedigree !!. The same dog can run well though ! They are obviously some sort of throwback or genetic mutation between the non-ped Whippet and the Greyhound ! Cheers.
  13. Let's be quite clear here .... I'd shoot my own dog if it was a stock worrier !!! What happened with me back then was an over "enthusiastic" keeper ! He was wrong and paid the price; but that didn't bring back my dog !! These days, things have changed drasticaly, because of laws like the hunam rights act, the right to roam act, etc. It's not like the old days when landowners could have you deported to Australia for taking a rabbit !! Fire arms laws are far more Draconian than they were only a few years ago ! If a keeper/farmer threatens to shoot your dog, and you phone 999 and say he's threate

  16. Why would an adult dog be for sale just now ? Probably because it was useless last season and the owner was clearing out to bring something new in for next season !! Cheers. If it was useless dont think i would keep it all year, young dogs coming through have to make room. Not sure if you are agreeing with me or not !! LOL !! Cheers.

  18. You've had the dog three years mate, what's the sudden rush to start it working, and all the posts on here ? Take your time with the dog, get it fit and start it lamping, if thats what you want, around september time. Good luck with it. Cheers.
  19. It sure looks like the Rising Sun Country Park, and no, I'm not giving anything away !! I've seen over 20 people lined up taking pics of the stag !! It IS protected and tame !! Cheers.
  20. Bingo! I wondered when someone else'd point that out. I didn't want to be the one to post that because i've already rattled the cage, stating Kuttas are nothing more than status symbols as their best use (fighting other dogs) can't be done legally here. They are quite often used in fighting matches at weddings out in the tribal lands of India/Pakistan/Afghanistan, even though it's supossed to be banned; Mods; please feel free to delete this pic, even though it's readily available on the internet. Cheers.
  21. Perhaps you should have gave the dogs a miss, the days that English lessons were on at school !! LOL !! Cheers.
  22. Why do you think you will never see any like them again ? Rather a defeatist attitude, Cheers.
