  1. At least if a dog is offered "free to a good home" on here, it MIGHT get a good home ! What's the alternative; ending up in a pound, or worse still, dumped on the side of a motorway ? Cheers.
  2. Seen them go from 18" up to 25", and from 18lb up to 55lb !! Had a bitch that was 18" and 30lb, her litter brother was 24" and 45lb. They are usualy VERY fast and decent working/racing dogs. Cheers.
  3. Well, if I've got people like Romany and Border Lad looking at my threads, then I'm a happy man !!!!!!
  4. Whey ye may be right, but I doubt you wor born when Plummer was aroond !!LOL !! Cheers. Ha Ha Ha - Ah wish, it's been a long time since 1965!!!!!!!!! Had a good craic with a lad from Hawick this morn, only a young'in but a good dog lad ! Cheers.

  6. That's the type of reply I was after ! Lets hear what people think is what they realy want !! Cheers.
  7. Do you think the Ibizan blood REALY added anything to the blood that was already there ? Genuine question, mate. Cheers.
  8. I'll start the ball rolling; MUST have Greyhound as the base.... then I'd like to see Saluki, Deerhound, Bedlinglton, Whippet, and even though I'm not a fan, Bull ! But is there any other breed you'd like to put to a Greyhound to produce a Lurcher ? I missed out Collie, simply because I've only had one Collie cross, and it was shite !! Doesn't mean they all are, but that's just my view !! Cheers.
  9. Heard the same thing; and I don't think they have anything to offer in the way of Lurcher breeding, but it WAS nice to see a pair of them at the track and have a good conversation with the owners. The guy also has a working Lurcher and a couple of working Patts; the Ibizans are his wifes. Cheers.
  10. I know what you are talking about, Bird, mine bounce up and down in the oil seed then suddenly take off and it sometimes results in a catch, but good fun nontheless !! The Spanish have got a bad rep with cruelty to animals, and there's bad reports about how they treat Galgos that don't make the grade, perhaps they treat Ibizans the same way... I hope not ! Cheers.
  11. That's the spittin' image of one of the ones I saw today !! Cheers.
  12. Went to Westerhope Whippet Club this morning, as usual, and was pleasanly supprised to see a lady and gentleman with a fine pair of Ibizan Hounds there ! They were both dogs, and one was about 28" tall, the other was a 10 month pup, but fine looking dogs. I was supprised at how tall they were, I thought they would be quite a bit smaller. Haven't got a clue what they would work like, but the owners said they will be running them on rabbits. I didn't have a camera, but I'll make sure I get some pics next time. I think it's great that people are bringing in these "exotic" breeds ! Cheers.
  13. Those Red Kites are something else !! First time I saw them, Ithought they were part of the Falconry Display !! Cheers.

  18. theres no such thing as luck luck is like god it dont exist pal Everone has their own opinion on things like luck and god; but if you are the best dog man in the world and buy the best bred pup in the world, and it turns out shite..... then I would put that down to bad luck, karma, whatever you want to call it, but then again; who knows ? Cheers. But if you're honest, if most of those who see, or regard themselves as 'top dogmen' bought a well bred pup and it turned out shite - they'd blame allsorts rather than take it on the chin that it might have something to do with the

  20. A good dog man can't make a bad dog great ! And a bad dog man will deffinately make a good dog bad !! It's a mix between breeding, upbringing, and, most importantly, LUCK !! But it DOES help to have a well bred pup, not neccesarily from workers, but preferably. Cheers.
  21. This one is not direct from Trevor, but is by his Deerhound, Doxhope Knights Errant, out of a Greyhound bitch, Rivington Ena; Cheers.
  22. Rapidly approaching my 60th year; got my first dog, a non-ped Whippet when I was 13. Had Whippets, Saluki, Greyhound, Lurchers of all sizes, shapes and crosses ! Only had a couple of non running breeds; a Fell terrier, a Doberman, and a Lab. Have got 6 year old and 2 year old Lurchers just now. No intention of giving up dogs anytime soon ! Cheers.
  23. Who hates them ?? There are Lurcher lads who won't own them, for the simple reason they aren't the type of dog for the quarry they run, but a bull x is the best at what it does !! It was only a week ago you didn't know what a Lurcher was, but now you know who hates what !! Slow down a bit mate ! Cheers.
  24. For a "newbie", you seem determined to create controversy
  25. Yeah; I would agree with that ! If you were using a terrier or collie bred bitch... use a bit more Greyhound in the sire; if you were using a Whippet or Saluki or Deerhound bred bitch.. maybe not so much Greyhound blood ! Everyone has there own idea's on breeding. Cheers.
