  1. there is couple pure saluki,s on here for sale £195 And they seem like cracking pups , but I stand by what I say. Cheers.
  2. I'll agree that Thatcher f****d the working man, (and not in a nice way !! LOL !!), but come on...you can't equate the 's with the 50's !!!! There was tough times after the war, but the 's there was no rationing, people wern't starving, we all poached and collected scrap, but there was no way we would go as hungry as people did in the 50's, 60's, etc !! Cheers.
  3. Saluki's are fine dogs; and I've had both pure and hybrids, and ran Saluki's in their own enviroment; BUT.... if it's a lamping dog your after; then they are not your best choice by a long way !! Get a Lurcher bred pup from lamping parents. It'll do far better and be far cheaper ! Cheers.
  4. I'm probably "one of the more mature members" Simo's on about ! I remember times long before the miners strike, as bad as that was. I never NEEDED to hunt to get meat for the table, but we allways ate what we caught. What we didn't eat was given away to people who did need it,old people, people with big families, people out of work, etc. Still get asked by people for a rabbit, pheasant, trout, etc. The old days of hunger in this country, have, thankfully, gone.. but nowt wrong with giving an owld lad or lass a rabbit or bit of venison now and again !! (or even swapping them for a "beer voucher
  5. That's a well conditioned bitch, Tomo ! Was she hard to get, and keep in condition, or was she one of those who conditioned without massive amounts of work ? Cheers.
  6. Can't realy agree with that, mate ! Everything is continualy evolving, even dogs ! Just look at the coursing dog, the Saluki Hybrid is a relativly modern phenomenon, but is generaly accepted as the best hare coursing dog in the world, now ! Cheers. Thats true, I used to watch crufts and see these wee fluffy terrier types prancing and the commentator would say.... this dog was once used for badgers!!! I know its a bad example cos I personally hate the kennel club but you know what I mean and at the very least, I do lol. Ba, I would say that the "Crufts,KC" dogs have degenerat

  8. I think this dog came up in conversation today when I was speaking with 'Gin' off here? Yes/No? Quite possibly; Gin bred her. Cheers.
  9. but that begs the question why would you want a gun dog with extra pace as presumably they are all ready bred right for the job,or are they, dont know iv lost myself now Would this not technicaly be a lurcher ????? ATB have heard of a few of this type over the years but they certainly not common,i asked about gry/lab long time ago but people were very negative prob due to the likely litter waistage,to heavy I recon your right mate but would be interesting to see what a light weight long dog say Saluki x Greyhound first cross and one of the lighter weight field trial
  10. NO DOG should go hungry these days !! FFS, you can get a 15Kg bag of complete working dog food from the likes of Netto's for six quid !! If you have ANY brains, you can go around your local butchers and get top class dog food for NOWT !! There is NO excuse for having a hungry dog !! Shame on them that do !!!! Cheers.

  15. A Lurcher will do a gundogs job better than a gundog can do a Lurchers job !..... But a Lurcher will never be better than a gundog at a gundogs job !! Hope that makes sense !! LOL !! Cheers.

  19. Natural selection and selective breeding, mate ! There's some wide open spaces out there in the Middle East, nothing for as far as the eye can see. A dog needs speed to get up on it's quarry and stamina to keep up with it. I'd imagine the wild dogs that were the forebears to the Saluki had survival of the fittest and when the Beduins breed them, looks don't come into it, best to the best and ruthless culling. I asked Sheik Hamed if he prefered Feathered or Smooth; he looked at me and said coat and colour mean nothing..it's how they perform that decides if they are good enough to breed Che
  20. And you my son ,should fook off back to kindergarten.I suggest ,you start with the, peter and jane books. "Big Zook", who are you, realy ??? You talk about "officers" and "wildlife divisions", etc ! Are you on a piss take, or are you realy a snide ? You're playing a dangerous game, either way !! Now ! how does it matter to you,who i am?.We dont play games over this end mate.Read post 18,that is where i`ll leave the topic and not get drawn into nonsensical tit 4 tat postings. ANTI !!
  21. This dog was given to me in the 's, at 6 month, I had him till he had to be pts at 17 year old, a cracking dog that run desert hares and wild dogs, had no fear, but was uncontrolable !! Cheers.
  22. Your'e wrong mate....Any one who knows me, knows that I lived in the Middle East for over 26 years ! But I'm still a GEORDIE !! LOL !! Cheers.
