The lad that gifted me this bird said it was American Game; My mate says its Old English Game; Cheers.

Great to get the young 'uns involved ! My grandson lives in Saudi, but when he visits me, he loves the dogs, horses, poultry and being out with me, even if the weather isn't quite what he's used to ! Cheers.

This thread has encouraged me to do a tiny bit of research, and I'm amazed at the interesting places around Newcastle; The Ouseburn culvert, another tunnel converted into an air raid shelter. I used to play in there aswell. The Kenton Bunker, a ROC bunker that was supposed to have been abandoned in the 50's, but freedom of information act says it was still in use up to 1968 but won't say what for ! Concrete mirrors near Sunderland coast to detect Zeppelins during the First World War. Pill boxes and bunkers disguised as beach huts at North Shields. A concrete bunker in

There's a tunnel goes right under Newcastle from the town moor to the Tyne. It was built in the 1800's to transport coal from the outlying mines to the ships for export. It had to be a tunnel as the Freemen of Newcastle owned the town moor, and what is now St. James park, and wouldn't allow an overland line. It was converted to air raid shelters during the war, and during the slum clearances of the late 50s and early 60s in our area, we found an entrance. Down a rusty old ladder into the darkness with our torches we went, health and safety wasn't invented then to stop our adventures, and

Interesting subject. I remember two well respected, old school lurcher men having diametrically opposed views on dew claws. Paul Sagar said the dew claw was attached to a tendon and removing the dew claw weakened the wrist. Typp Ratcher insisted the dew claws should be removed, and would penalise any dog he was judging if it had dew claws ! I've two old bitches in the kennel at the moment, one with dew claws, one without, and to be honest, I've never had any trouble with either of them. If I had to make a choice, I'd have them removed, but it wouldn't unduly worry me i

Cropped ears, henna on the feet, definitely Middle East Saluki, probably Iraq, maybe Turkey. Cheers.

To be honest; I prefer a rough coated dog, but that's from a purely aesthetic point of view. I've owned both rough and smooth, and my view, ( and I stress it's only MY view ! ), is that a dogs coat has no affect on it's working ability, BUT, a good , rough , double coat does offer some protection against the weather. I'veseen rough coated dogs excel In desert conditions, and smooth coated dogs do well in cold conditions, there's allways exceptions to the rule, but in general, if you're worried about a dogs ability to stand harsher weather, get one with a harsher coat ! My missus, north of the Arctic circle, doing her "Agnes Hailstone" impression ; Not sure what type of huskies they were, but -23 degrees didn't seem to bother them ! Cheers.

My daughter was invited to dinner at his house by one of his sons. I said she shouldn't go as he has been accused of being a cannibal and keeping heads in his fridge. Of course she went to school and said to the son "my dad says I can't come to your house cause your dad might eat me" ! The son went on to write a book refuting all the allegations about his dad.......Good luck with that ! Cheers.

No mate, absolutely true. When I lived in Saudi Arabia, Amin had been expelled from Uganda and given asylum in Jeddah. He lived in a villa literally round the corner from me, and his kids went to the Internationl School, as did my kids. Im fine mate, just got a couple of old running dogs now, but still in the game. I've been lucky enough to have been invited up scotland a few times. On the hills on the west, and a four day trip to the Cairngorms running the whites for the first time. Loved every minute, even if it was hard work for an old fart like me ! Cheer

I met Idi Amin once, when my kids went to school with his kids. He was a doting father and a very pleasant and polite man in the very short time I was in his company. Just goes to show, eh ? Cheers.

Anne Widdicome stopped him interrupting when she was speaking the other morning; he sat there like a chastised schoolboy ! Cheers.

I thought the Range Rover would be an upgrade on my Scooby, but to be fair, the Subaru was a million times more reliable ! Forgive the quality ot the pic, this was years before digital cameras, and developing the old Kodak roll was hit and miss at best, in Saudi ! Cheers.

I had a Range Rover in Saudi, a Wood & Pickett job. It came from the Royal Mews. A joy to drive until it went wrong ........everything was modified, the wheels were bigger, bigger discs and callipers, even bigger, braided brake hoses. Desert cooling system with dual core radiator, bigger water pump, long range fuel tank, good job I could fill it up for next to nowt, I'd guess it did about 8-10 to the gallon ! Heavily modified suspension and body, Recaro seats, Momo steering wheel. Weird slatted front grill. I remember going to a specialist Range Rover dealer in Derbyshire f

I can't help feeling a bit sorry for her. Isn't she autistic ? If she is, it's a disgrace she's being manipulated by vested interests. Cheers.

"Cognito, ergo sum"...... Cheers.

Had some serious family tragedies , shouldn't really have been arguing on hunting sites at the time, but everything is fine now. Was told my name was mentioned a couple of times and I was intrigued that anyone would remember me after all this time, so asked Bosun to resurrect my account ! 67 now but still in the game, but a much mellowed person now ! LOL ! Cheers.

I'm fine, take a hiatus for a short while,.........and suddenly it's been seven years ! Cheers.
