    It's just advertising; adverts are exaggerations to sell things. If you are getting a pup, do your homework, see the parents work, or talk to people, other than the breeder, who has seen them work. Nothing is 100% sure but you can eliminate a lot of variables. Well bred pups from proven parents usually don't need advertising, but a lot of people in the game aren't in the "loop", so go to breeders and hope they are truthful, but dog breeders, used car salesmen , double glazing salesmen, etc, all come in the same category for me; some are genuine, most simply want your money !     The reason I use the name "Chartpolski" is; I was wondering down a street in Texas , and a bloke was approaching with a nice looking dog ; I said "nice lurcher, mate" , and he got a bit shirty, "It's not a lurcher, it's a Chartpolski", he said. I apologised and said I'd never heard of them. He explained they were Polish hunting dogs. That's the only one I've ever seen. Cheers.

    Of course, there can be the odd downside to gifted dogs; when the saluki that was gifted to me in Saudi had to be put down at 17 years of age; The guy that gave him to me thought it would be a nice thing to replace him, with.............a Doberman bitch ! It would have been churlish and disrespectful of me not to accept, and when I retired, I brought her back to the UK. I was lucky that I flew her back free, but had to pay over £1500 quarantine fees !! She caught a few rabbits, and was mental on fox, and even got a mention in one of Darcy's books, flushing deer

    I guess you pay what YOU think a pup is worth. My last one was exactly what I was looking for, a well bred first cross Deer Grey. The guy wanted £250, a pittance, I thought, for the right dog. I drove a couple of hundred miles, met the guy and found out we had mutual friends going back over 40 years ! He insisted he would only take £200, and as I was leaving he gave me £20 "luck money " !     Another one I had, very early 70's. Pot Black, (Darley Fly x Susan). Around 23" and 40lb. Very well bred; double bred Bilko on the sires side, and great scratch dogs on the dams side, with a bit of greyhound and even a touch of collie ! Won a few races and caught plenty hares, but unfortunately died young at the hands of a trigger happy 'keeper while coursing a hare. Cheers.

    Hi mate; my late daughter lived in Berwick, Melbourne, and I've spent a fair amount of time there. I just put a post up on the "Ozziedoggers" site, asking if anyone would take an old Pom out hunting, and I was inundated with offers ! Went out hunting with loads of lads from there, also had a run out with the Barwon Fox Hounds. I don't think many were into rabbits or netting, it was mainly fox and pigs, but it might be worth you giving "Ozziedoggers" a try. Cheers.

    A friend of mine had a "pet" dingo in Melbourne. Completely untrustworthy and untrainable. It couldn't be let of the lead, and when left in the yard, it would dig under the fence and run off, so had to be kept on a chain. We took it to an isolated beach along the Great Ocean Road to give it a bit free running.......it took us hours to get it back. Certainly not to be recommended as a pet, in pure or cross bred form !
