This is my last deer/grey, Lima, at around the same age; She made 29" and 75 lb. This pup is stockier and heavier boned, but I think she'll make around the same size, maybe not quite as tall. I think she'll be fully grown by then, but obviously not fully matured. I'll make my own evaluation when the time comes if she's ready or not. If I thinks she's not, I'll give her more time. I'll not risk ruining a dog by being impatient ? Cheers.

Just an update on my first cross deer/grey, Nancy; Seven months old today, 27" and 62 lb; Coats coming in, and she's shaping up nicely. Still on course to give her a run around February. Cheers.

I find it a bit curious that New Zealand is banning smoking when there is huge problems with crime, and drink and drug abuse, especially among the indigenous people. Ive spent some time in New Zealand, and have family there, and its a beautiful country, but they have their problems, like all countries. Watch the movie "Once were Warriors", gives a good insight. Cheers.

So these are your heros testing their dogs ?

Condensed version; Driving fields.........bad. Mythical romantic poacher taking a rabbit or pheasant to feed his starving children.......good. I think. Cheers. -
Don't know what "disco teeth" are, but it somehow reminded me of when a barmaid said someone had been in the bar looking for me. I asked her what he looked like, she said " he had teeth like a broken sleeping bag zip " ! Never did find out who it was. Cheers.

I agree, cooked bones go brittle and splinter, but I'll hold up my hands and admit I've fed dogs cooked bones from the kitchen for over 55 years without a problem, but if one of my dogs got a perforated bowel, I'd only have myself to blame ! By the way, my dogs are fed mainly raw and BARF, but being a tight bugger, very little foodstuff in my house gets wasted, it goes to the dogs and the poultry ! Cheers.

If by his "team" you mean the back bench MP's then yes, there are around 60 of them that will vote against the upcoming lockdown legislation. If you mean his cabinet, they are bound by "collective responsibility" and their only recourse if they disagree with him is to resign, but how many would have the honour to do that ? If you mean his SPAD team, they are mostly young and have their foot on the first rung of the political ladder and are in my mind sycophantic yes men and women who are telling him what he wants to hear and would never resign on principal. So, in my opinion, t

I will probably vote for the Reform or Reclaim candidate at the next election unless there is a major shift to the right by the Tories. Cheers.

The Tory party have form for getting rid of leaders, but I think Boris still has more popularity and voter appeal than any of his challengers. Id say, barring some major f**k ups, he's safe until after the next election. There was no split when they got rid of May, and Boris removed the whip from 21 remainers, so I'd say no, they're not likely to split now. Cheers

Good post. The recent Labour front bench reshuffle sees committed europhiles like Starmer, Cooper, Lammy, Thornberry, etc, who, if they couldn't actually get us to rejoin the EU, would surrender huge swathes of our independence and sovereignty back to the EU. As you say, it's a sad state of affairs when the only choice is the least worst choice. Cheers.

Yeah, it's a dilemma, Keith. I had my last two lurchers put down, old age and I'll health, and I briefly contemplated not getting another, at my age. But I knew I'd regret it, so when I was offered a pup that would suit me, I jumped at the chance. My dogs, poultry, Allotments are, admittedly, tying, but I'd be lost without them, and sitting around, watching day time TV isn't for me, (yet ! ). Chin up, owld mate ? Cheers.

I don't know how people can afford to smoke ! Seen the price of them now, even the, ahem, "imports" ! Cheers.

I've told this story on here before, and it's 100% true. Many years ago, two lads I knew were out lamping, and got pulled by the 'keeper and two of his mates. The 'keeper was well known for getting violent, but only when he had backup. Anyway, he hit one of the lads, without provocation, in the face with one of those yellow lamps, the type you buy from Halfords, splitting his lips and breaking his nose. The lads pal pulled a machete from under his coat, and buried into the 'keepers shoulder with such force the handle snapped off ! The 'keeper was lucky......it was aime -
And he's on manoeuvres to get back into parliament, if not him, then one of his relatives ! And there's enough of his supporters in Leicester to make it happen......... Cheers.

Looks like Boris is going to bring in more restrictions. Bad timing as he's just had a savaging in parliament over the number 10 Xmas party. Looks like he's trying to deflect the press's attention. There doesn't seem to be any decent advisors in number ten advising him, all his latest problems could easily have been avoided. When Paterson was found guilty of profiting from his position, Boris could just have said "he's been found guilty and suspended for 30 days, that's the end of the matter" , but no, he tried to change the law to save his mate, and failed. Now with this X

First cross deerhound x greyhound neck bone issue?

I'd guess it's these bones at the top of the neck, just behind the skull you are talking about ? Cheers. -
First cross deerhound x greyhound neck bone issue?
chartpolski replied to brindlerogue's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
This piqued my interest, so I went straight out and checked the neck of my seven month old first cross deer/grey, and yes, she has what youmention, and so do my other dogs, and they seem more prominent when her head is turned, but it's perfectly natural, nothing to worry about in my opinion ? One thing about this bitch that Ive noticed is her neck is stronger and more muscular than other "pencil necked" deer crosses I've seen and owned shes never shown any discomfort wearing a collar. If your still in doubt, no harm in consulting a vet. Cheers. -
This new "drug crackdown" is more bluster. They will phone any number on a dealers phone to let them know. Wouldnt it be more of a deterrent to turn up at the houses of those people , team handed, with riot gear, dogs and the "big red key" at five in the morning if they REALLY wanted to deter them from contacting dealers ? Just more smoke and mirrors from Priti Patel. Cheers.

It's ALWAYS been one rule for them, another for the rest of us, that's why they become politicians, and it not just the Tories; remember Kinnocks MP son travelling hundreds of miles to give his dad a birthday present during lockdown, or that scots woman MP that travelled from Scotland to London and back by train, when she knew shad covid ! They are all as bad as each other. What pissed me off was Kier Starmmer using up his questions at PMQ's asking Boris about a Xmas party that happened last year. The country is in lockdown, Covid is STILL running rampant, overseas travel is al

Just my opinion, but you seem to be looking at opposite ends of the spectrum. Using a non-running dog, the Bedlington, will make the pups around half non- runner, nothing wrong with that, of course. Using a grew will make the pups almost all running dog. Depends entirely on what you want from the pups. Have you considered a Beddy/grey stud as a compromise ? Good luck with whatever you choose. Cheers.
