  1. What legal loopholes ? The only one I could see was using two dogs to flush a hare to a bird of prey. This was very ambiguous, with Prescott being prosecuted for it, and Sagar seemingly doing it with impunity. Make no mistake, the coursing fraternity tried every angle to circumvent the law, using any perceived loophole, birds of prey, guns, muzzling the hounds, but failed at every attempt. Cheers.
  2. Yes, it's there in section 5 of Schedule one, exempt hunting, stalking and flushing out. No where in the act does it mention any more than two dogs. Cheers.
  3. Here's the relevant section of the hunting act, including wounded animals; Section 1 (5) states no more than two dogs to be used in stalking or flushing. section 5 deals with the retrieving of wounded hares. Hunting Act 2004 WWW.LEGISLATION.GOV.UK An Act to make provision about hunting wild mammals with dogs; to prohibit hare coursing; and for connected purposes. 9 Cheers.
  4. I know, but the ban was never about animal welfare, it was the Labour Party wanting, in their words, "to give Tory toffs in red coats a bloody nose" And in the draughting of the law, instead of saying foxes and foxhounds, it was extended as a catchall to include all dogs and all mammals, with the exception of rats and rabbits. Purely class hatred, nothing to do with animal welfare. Cheers.
  5. Never heard of that. The only exemption I know of is to use a maximum of two dogs to flush game to a gun or bird of prey. Cheers.
  6. Beagles are the same as any other dog in relation to the Hunting Act. Hares are their quarry, and hunting hares is illegal. Cheers.
  7. Correct, but the law used to be "Trespass in pursuit of game AND coney". I know because I've been charged with it twice; won one, lost one ? Cheers.
  8. Remember the Working Lurcher Association? When it was going to become affiliated with the Countryside Alliance ? I was asked to become a committee member but declined. I knew since the Hunting Ban that the CA had no interest in Lurchers, and would throw us under the bus without a moments hesitation, and they have at every opportunity! As for confiscating dogs, it's nothing new, there's lads on here who have had dogs taken. Poaching has never been legal, and to be fair, the punishments have been far harsher in the past, but on balance, I wouldn't mind being deported to Australia
  9. My daughter in law and grandson visited us from Saudi. I took them to the swimming pool at Outer West, Newcastle, and there was literally only me and my four year old grandson in the pool, and his mum and grandmother were taking pics of us on their 'phones from the side. Some jobsworth ran, yes, ran up to them and ordered them to stop taking pictures and delete the ones they had took. We told them we were family, and there was no one else around, but he insisted it was against the law, and if they didn't stop we would have to leave ! Welcome to modern Britain ! Cheers
  10. Cheap ! £160 from the Reindeer Centre ; Store - The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd WWW.CAIRNGORMREINDEER.CO.UK WE CAN ONLY PELTS POST WITHIN THE UK. We source our reindeer pelts from Finland, where the reindeer are still managed by the Sami people as free-ranging... Cheers.
  11. I'm dead against this ban, but playing Devils advocate, they wouldn't care if they were shedded antlers or not. If the species is on the list, that's it......banned. Reindeer are on the list, but the herds in the Cairngorms are managed and partly financed by the sale of pelts and antler products, so will we see a scenario where you can buy the banned products in the U.K. But can't import them from, say Canada or Finland ? Or will the domestic products be also banned, leading to the paradoxical situation where the UK's reindeer will suffer from a law meant to protect them ? Like most
  12. If it's on the exclusion list, it will be confiscated and destroyed on entering the country. If you try to bring it in without declaring it, you will be fined, just like Australia and New Zealand do now, I would assume ? Cheers.
  13. It's going to get worse. A petition to stop fox hunts , ( drag hunting, not REAL foxes), from operating near built up areas, had reached over 100,000, so now has to be, by law, debated in parliament. Another nail in the coffin........... Cheers.
  14. I don't think the ban will affect me, I've only ever brought a couple of shark jaws from the Red Sea and a couple of Wild Boar jaws from New Zealand. I cant envisage me ever wanting to import lion, polar bear, hippo or anything like that, but there's supposed to be 6,000 animals on the list, a lot of them not endangered, including reindeer. When my missus was north of the Arctic circle last year I wanted her to bring a reindeer pelt back, but she didn't. I was hoping to get a couple in the future for the man cave, but looks like the ban may affect me after all ! Cheers.
  15. Every days a learning day, mate ? Cheers.
  16. On Saudia Haj flights coming from the third world, they didn't even know what toilets were. They simply put a pillow on the floor between the rows of seats and pissed and shit there. Cheers.
  17. Do you think it's "racing" when drivers are ordered by their team to slow down and let the principal driver overtake ? Not today's race, I hasten to add, but it happens quite regularly. Ive never been a fan of F1, the results are far to easy to forecast. Cheers.
  18. The non-ped racing people breed their dogs to race, they have been breeding the best to the best for generations to get the fastest dog over a relatively short distance. They get great pride in seeing their progeny win big Open races and Racing Champion status. Gone are the days when people like me would have "dual purpose" whippets, hunting and coursing during the week and racing at the weekend. I still go regularly to my local Whippet clubs and am friends with many of the people. I've been offered very well bred pups many times to get me back into racing, but have never been o
  19. We had outside toilets back in the 50's, two toilets in the back yard shared between six families in the tenement. With the slum clearances we were moved out to the new estates in the suburbs......inside toilets, central heating, electricity, hot AND cold water, it was like winning the pools ! When I got married 45 years ago today, we got an old pit house. It has one of those kitchen/bathroom/toilet extensions and still had the outside toilet, which came in handy sometimes ! when I first went to the Middle East in '78....well, I'd rather not reflect on some of the holes in the g
