  1. Baldie, would 4's be overkill. I've got loads left from fox shooting...........
  2. I run a large animal collection containing companion animals, livestock and exotics. I also teach a variety of animal related topics. I left school after several years of staring out the window and spent 7 years unpacking books in a grotty warehouse on minimum wage in the centre of Nottingham, my now wife bullied me into going to University at 23 and I graduated after studying animal science(god bless her), I then worked as a dog warden before coming to my current job. I also do a bit of dog training, training dogs for manwork, tracking and obedience.
  3. Thanks baldie, its a friend of a friends last day as a keeper on a big estate and we are walking it with dogs, hes told me to bring my shepherds but I think i'll just take the terrier and have been told that rabbits, pheasants, foxes and crows are to be shot. It's just for a few of the beaters and us, looking forward to it.
  4. Almost all my shooting with my shotgun is for pigeons, for the first time this week I have been invited to attend a shoot where I will be shooting my first pheasants, what shot size is best
  5. I can't understand why people have a problem with killing a fox but not with a rat My main quarry are rats as that is a more common species on my permission. I think we all kill animals and to try and justify it by degrading another mans quarry is wrong. I didn't read Poachers thread but don't be put off posting because of a few idiots.
  6. It was a collie I used for lamping, he was fine apart from being a bit sore. Always wary of horses after a friends Russell was stamped to death.
  7. I try to avoid livestock if possible, I am a bit wary of horses but had a bad experience several years ago when a group of bullocks tried to kill my dog, he outran them around the field and escaped by jumping over a dry stone wall, the worrying thing was the 10 foot drop on the other side.
  8. Glad to see you got yourself a new pup, good luck
  9. Scary stuff, godd job your mate saw him otherwise you may have never found out what happened
  10. Never thought about that Tony Luckiliy enought he top i'm having fitted this week has a sliding wondow to solve the problem.
  11. It's unlikely that your dogs would get fleas from a fox that is just passing through. Are you sure it's just fleas? not mange or another skin condition?
  12. Get advantage, although I think the name has changed. DON'T dip your dogs in Jeyes, who suggested this
  13. Salclalin, I think hes either wrong or winding you up?????
  14. Best laugh i've had this year
  15. I watched it, not bad. Seems the whole series is about dogs in New Zealand, something different
  16. Wow, some good numbers I like the photo of the rats escaping through the mesh. I got some new permission for rats unfortunately i'm not the only person taking terriers so the huge numbers are being split
  17. BARF, without question.......

    HI

Welcome aboard, I prefer Murphy's to Guiness
  20. Well ditchy I've only had a couple of rats this year and they were only average, i'll see if any monsters turn up on a ratting trip next month. The rat in my photo was one of over a 100 that we caught in a few hours, a large number of the rats were above average size with some real monsters, they were decimating the farms corn and maybe the corn diet helped them grow??
