A good point, I have had the chance on numerous occasions but would never shoot a hare as I personally don't like it and would rather see them run by a dog. Thats just my opinion but I wouldn't decry someone who does enjoy it..........

They don't seem to be bothered by cover, during competitions it wasn't unusual for the dog to have to track through nettles, thistles etc. The dogs drive just used to kick in, although nettles on the nose seems a trifle irritating to me

As far as breeding lurchers, I do agree that Simomans dog does look abit more suitable, but you should give it ago if thats what you want. Simoman, do you do any work with yours? (Schutzhund, personal protection etc?) I have the sire to the dog in the photo, hes from Belgian schutzhund imports, I qualified him in Working Trials but retired him after he damaged his cruciate ligament and I didn't want to keep putting him over 6ft jumps and 9ft long jumps. It's an interesting thought Heres one of my Shepherds, he's coming up to three and weighs about 60lb's, not a critisism but your bitch does look heavy framed.

My dog damaged his cruciate although the vet advised against surgery as it wasn't that bad. I wish I had ignored him The dog can run but I try not to jump him, it took about 16 months before he was back to normal.

Strange statement FK Training is important but so is breeding. This would mean if I bought a KC registered Westie and socalised it etc etc and then entered it at 18 months it would work? It may but i'd rather purchase a pup from lines that had been tested for generations and not bred for looks.......... Anyone remember a certain writer challenging to put Cavaliers against any terrier at digging hmmmmmmmm
