  1. There’s pest control & there’s mass slaughter, end of the day nobody should be allowed to wipe a species out from a full area, for financial gain. That’s what it comes down to, wildlife being slaughtered to maximise profit from the land and it doesn’t sound so good when you say it like that.
  2. Probably right, in certain areas of the country. Some keepers are killing mad as well mind you, mostly younger ones but you get the odd older one that’s trigger happy as well. Cant do anything about it, just need to let them get on with it and have a good moan about it on here ?
  3. It won’t come to that, shooting will go before the foxes do, it’s only a matter of time for pheasant shoots & grouse moors I think, the pressures mounting on them. You’ll still get your rifle boys doing it as a hobby but with less keepers there’ll be a lot less foxes & other predators killed.
  4. Same with the mountain hare, they’ve passed a bill in Scotland to protect them but not enforced it yet so they’re still getting slaughtered. It’s probably the one that annoys me the most to be honest because they’re an iconic native species, a proper survivor where they live & they’re being blasted in their thousands by trigger happy grouse keepers. They’re in decline nationwide & it’s the people preaching about conservation & wildlife management that are to blame.
  5. Foxings just gone completely electronic, you’ve got men sat in a land rover, window down with a fox pro, NV, thermal and rifle. How’s that sporting in any way?
  6. There’s a spot we go on that’s absolutely bursting with certain quarry, we could bag up every time to get the big lined out picture for WhatsApp, but it’s short sighted, if you take a few each time and only go maybe half a dozen times a season then your good spots will stay good, but like you say for some the need to show off takes over.
  7. They’d get loads of praise definitely but it’s short sighted. Nothing wrong with lads taking a good number 50-100 a few time’s a season but those rifle boys try to do it on every spot they go on.
  8. Definitely not, still a c*nts trick no matter how you look at it taking that many of anything off 1 spot. Ferrets, dogs, nets etc takes a lot more effort than a .22 with a thermal as well.
  9. Shooting fraternity don’t know any other way. Bleet on 24/7 about conservation then go out with all their gear and kill everything they see.
  10. Couldn’t agree more. For me half the fun is looking for stuff & the excitement when you find it. Those thermals take skill out of it you don’t need to know anything about your quarry anymore just chuck a couple of grand at one of them & you’ll find everything that’s in an area. Been sent this pic this morning end of the day they might be a handy bit of kit for lurcher lads but on the whole they want banning before they destroy the countryside
  11. Never owned one myself but been out with a few lads that’s got them day & night, some people swear by them but I don’t have any use for one. GPS different story I wouldn’t be without it.
  12. Can see why some people like them, they’ve got their uses in some situations, they're not for me though
  13. At that age they go up and down weight by the day I wouldn’t worry about it, especially not with the way he’s bred
  14. Depends if you think the lads trustworthy enough to give you the dog back if it’s not working out, if he’s a decent lad just be honest so he knows what to expect and see if he still wants to have a go with it.
  15. “I know he’s my son in law but he did commit an offence, he left me no choice”
  16. What did the police say when you told them?
  17. You need to be a proper c*nt to shoot a hare IMO. They're doing well round by me as well, don’t run them local the fields are shit but it’s nice to see them.
  18. Old ones are better without a doubt, I take an LED as a spare just Incase and last season was looking at something clear as day with the blitz, turned it off put the LED on it just out of curiosity and couldn’t see it at all
  19. Saluki crosses have their faults like all dogs but they’re stamina is on a different level to any other type of lurcher I’ve seen, they can have a proper stinger & 5 minutes later look like they’ve not even had a run. I wouldn’t have a lurcher without saluki blood in now I think I’d miss the wind too much now I’m used to having it.
  20. Some schools are giving an option for students to be one of 60 genders apparently so the views on killing rats doesn’t surprise me
  21. Dog wants to have a few seasons graft under its belt before you breed from it. It could be a flat out jacker & you’d be passing its cowardly genes on to its offspring without knowing. Decent lads could end up with those pups and waste 18 months rearing them. If it’s not a tested dog it shouldn’t be bred from but that doesn’t stop most lurcher owners anyway so crack on you’ll do whatever you want to do regardless what people on here tell you.
  22. It benefits the type I keep mate the saluki blood can make it hard to keep a good back on them at any time of year to be honest. If I fed it to my spaniels they’d be fat as f**k within a week. It can’t be bad stuff like my male dog can be a bit fussy, wouldn’t touch any other biscuit but likes that stuff so I just stick with it
  23. It is aye if you buy 6 bags at a time it works out about £43 a bag, I’ve never bothered with those high end completes before but the 30% fat thing swayed it for me, anything that can keep the weight on mid winter is a handy thing and saves f***ing about with lard etc
  24. I’ve messed about with all sorts of different diets & I’ve settled on Millie’s Wolfheart peak performance with chicken mince. Best I’ve seen the dog’s looking to be fair they’re holding weight and the couple of outings I’ve had my young dogs ran well so can’t complain. I feed my dogs breakfast in the winter as well I think unless you’ve got a dog with a slow metabolism when you’re working them hard you really can’t get enough in to them. As far as BARF is concerned when I was feeding just meat I gave a mix of everything something different every night and dog did ok on it. Ha
