  1. I don’t support packham but am I f**k going to support keepers & shooting men when 95% of them will grass you in as soon as they spot you
  2. Couldn’t be further from the truth if shooting stopped tomorrow rabbit, white hare, brown hare & fox numbers would go up. Deer are doing just fine. Don’t believe the shit they tell you I’ve walked plenty keepered moors theres 10 time’s the amount of running to be had on unkeepered moors.
  3. Strange how many “dog men” rush to defend the shooting community, when BASC & the countryside alliance throw us under the bus at every given opportunity. In their last press release regarding hare coursing they called for all dogs to be seized when lads were pulled on suspicion. Less shoots = more freedom for dog lads.
  4. Maybe the man likes deerhounds what does it matter to anyone else what kind of dog he wants.
  5. Got a soft spot for deerhound lurchers, always liked them, but they do seem to be a bit of a peddlers favourite probably why it can be hard to get a good one
  6. That’s the way I like to do it, i don’t want to be rich, I’m not a fan of holidays etc, not fussed with expensive cars, as long as I’m comfortable that’ll do me. Life only happens once, f**k spending 60hrs a week grafting, bank balance will look tidy but fast forward 40 years to retirement & you won’t have many memories to look back on.
  7. Suppose it all depends what you value more, extra cash or extra free time. Some lads want to work 60hrs a week and make as much as possible. Some want to work 30hrs and make just enough but enjoy their spare time. Neither are right or wrong just different priorities.
  8. That’s what I was getting at young lads are expected to graft like f**k for pennies and be grateful for it, fair play if that’s what you like doing but it’s not for me.
  9. Good post. Saluki crosses are more useful than bull crosses in a lot of ways but they’re nowhere near as game as a bull blooded dog people that think so are delusional. Meeting somewhere in the middle is an ideal scenario for an all rounder if it’s possible
  10. Appreciate them while they’re still here. They can be gone in the blink of an eye at any age.
  11. Nice pictures good to see old dogs still at it. Just be grateful you’ve had a long career with them
  12. Nice pictures good to see old dogs still at it. Just be grateful you’ve had a long career with them
  13. What would the police say when they knocked the door? All the animals were roadkill lad just took a picture of his dogs next to them, they know that’s the answer they’re going to get so why would they waste their time going to his door?
  14. Tbh once a week Dec - Feb that’s still only 12/13 days out for a full winter it’s not a lot I’d want to run a dog twice a week right through before I was sure about it. Once a week they’ve got 6 days rest in between outings most dogs should thrive being ran like that
  15. That’s what I mean the word tested gets thrown about a lot these days where it’s not deserved
  16. What I mean is a dog could run 1 or 2 hares on a Sunday morning for its full career and it probably wouldn’t pull up, it would have no reason to, but start giving that same dog a bit of stick you could find out it’s heartless and not worth kennel space. But if the owner only runs it very lightly then puts it out for stud, a heartless dogs out there lining bitches left right and centre but nobody knows cause it’s never been tested to find out
  17. She was out of PG Jamie dog back to belles sister rosie. Heard off men I trust rosie was a genuine good bitch ran hard, but tbh I think that Jamie dog done next to f**k all so could easy be a weak link there. I had a dog direct out of Jamie that was rubbish as well. Romeo was the father to the dog ive seen good and bad out of him. If yours are tough then you’re half way there I think the biggest problem with stuff out of romeo is they can be very fragile & injury prone.
  18. Think a lot of dogs would jack if they were given a lot of work but if theyre only ran lightly the owner will never know, then it’s bred from and the half hearted gene is passed on.
  19. Go out and enjoy yourself, you’ll get a lot of negativity people saying you can’t do this, can’t do that, that’s impossible etc etc. Just use your head and don’t knock about with idiots
  20. Those GPS trackers are a must if you’re mooching about places with a lot of game, lost dogs a few times it’s never a worry now peace of mind they give you is worth a lot more than what they cost
  21. That was mine end of his 1st season he had very thin skin and a poor coat. Caught some stuff with him but he had more bad points than good. Worst eater I’ve ever owned that’s a pet hate of mine as well, and it was so soft made you could run it on sand it would smash its feet up. Would’ve done someone for the odd run here and there but for any serious amount of work was no good, wasn’t even getting hammered when it pulled up it was just looking for any excuse I reckon but we all get dogs like that don’t we.
  22. So he said, who really knows, probably just pulled out of dogs trust and stuck in pup for some Xmas money.
  23. I’ve tried a few mate wasn’t keen, I had one out of romeo could run a bit but had worst feet I’ve ever seen on a dog constantly needed time off, and it jacked in the end was a heartless thing couldn’t hack proper work. I had one out of PG Jamie as well that was a lovely dog real well behaved, great eater etc just a nice dog to have about, but it was so steady it couldn’t even bend stubble hares that sickened me tbh cause I really liked the dog. Problem with a lot of them they’re bred out of dogs that’s not done much work so if you try and give them a lot they can’t cope. If you know decen
  24. Looks a nice pup how’s it bred? Best of luck with it
