  1. That makes good sense, I would be interested but only if its within range of west sussex. If not I'll can on on my jack
  2. I think i agree with you whin. Im assuming your saying you've had a few days out like that which are fun, unless you have pups with you, but you usually prefer a couple of dogs at a time? It would be nice to see a few of your tales from overseas and here, I can see why you dont post though. Loose lips etc etc
  3. mate show me a pic of a 400lbs boar. your nothing but a shit talker bud. and mate what are they called when there under this so called 400lbs a wild or feral male pig is a boar a female wild or feral pig is a sow simple rpbd I think we're all getting mixed up and that maybe why its getting so heated. Yeeharr is talking about european wild boar, they are bigger than what you guys in oz have which, as far as I know, are descended from feral domestic pigs. This is from wiki, not the best source i know but it gives an idea of the weights. ATB "Adult boars measure 90–200 c
  4. What happened to live and let live? Moll has gone to the trouble of posting a good write up and some really nice pictures of legal rabbiting. Whether its your cup of tea or not shes gone to the effort and its 100% better than the usual old dross posted here. This site used to be full of decent write ups by people like Moll but fewer and fewer bother as no sooner is it posted then all the hangers on who never post anything of interest are waiting to shoot them down. If anyone feels they can put up a write up as good showing the way they do it different then crack on, surely that would bebet
  5. Or it would be if your inbox wasnt full, drop me a message once you've emptied it
  6. Nice one, be good to ghet out at last. PM with number sent
  7. I took Water Badger and the dogs, his bedxwhip Douglas and William the whippet pup, and my collie based lurcher Willow, to a bit of new ground today. It looked like the perfect day, still, bright and frosty and I had great expectations. We started on a hedge that I'd been asked to concerntrate on and found the rabbits didnt want to bolt. We bolted a couple eventually which the dogs missed and dug to two. We gave up on that hedge and had a little explore. We found a bury that looked far more promising but yet again the rabbits stuck to the bury like glue, we finally ended up with seven fert
  8. I really enjoyed that, great pictures and love the music! Who is it? I know its good coz my wife rolled her eyes and muttered about ferrets and fiddles lol
  9. Im sure dogs do it on purpose. We were talking my wifes step sisters to the park while visiting Plymouth. Beautiful sunny sunday morning, park full of mums and kids and .... hundreds of feral pigeons! Terrier is straight in there and ragging one of them into a cloud of feathers then proudly bringing it to hand. Needless to say, we didnt stay long!
  10. I dont suppose you have any pictures? As i said, its a cross that really appeals to me for the future
  11. Its a cross that i've always liked the idea of but I've never actually seen one in the flesh. I used to work labs before i got into lurchers and have a real soft spot for the breed. I'd be very interested to see any pics anyone has of this cross.
  12. Hello bud, just buy the net from here, source the poles and make the basket localy to save on carriage. Nets fold up small and light but the basket and poles are bulky. ATB
  13. If you know both parents work well and you've seen previous litters working and were impressed then i think you've answered your own question. Why get something random where you have to trust a strangers word when you you can have something bred from stock you know thats thrown offspring that you've seen working?
  14. Nice job, its always really interesting to read your posts Brimmer. We have pretty much opposite ferreting styles and i like to see something different. I like a bolting jill and im not upset if they leave the occasional stubborn one behind, I use longnets almost exclusively and purse nets very seldom. The reasoning is that alot of the buries we do go off the mk3 locator so a ferret that kills and waits with every one is a liability. We also have very big buries with very few rabbits in so spending a longtime netting up isnt so productive. Its all about the ground! Good read too. ATB
  15. the problem is dear whin, people have no idea what the grade means in reality, some think its all to do with taking teeth, horn others 100 rabbits a night others retrieving to hand. the reality is its owners who dont make the grade, we all know lads who change dogs more times in a season than they do their pants because THEY DONT MAKE THE GRADE. load of bollocks, the lurcher game is that varried that not all dogs will suite each individual hunting requirements again this can be put down to the owner making a bad choice in choosing the cross he has for the requirements he wanted, the owner unable
  16. Talk to the birdman, hes always out, hes local and easy to get hold of?
  17. Whin - I think he means before he gives him anything gruelling, not that he'll do nothing til hes two. Hes already out mooching, ferreting, shooting etc. Pretty sure you've said before you dont like them doing too much too young in the past? Theres plenty he can learn without being over worked young?
  18. And thats whats wrong with the game, too many doing it for the buzz of getting chased, not giving a f**k about the land, quarry or their dogs. I dont know you and im not saying you personally do all those things but plenty do and the rest of us get tarred with the same brush.
  19. I bet hes quick, looking forward to seeing him. Sounds like hes getting entered nice and slow, just right for his breeding.
  20. Thanks for the input people. Ive spoken to lots of people about this and there seem to be three options, PTS, rehome or attempt to manage the problem. Everyone has said that this behaviour will never trained out of him now its started. After alot of soul searching ive come to this conclusion. Rehoming, unless the perfect person materialises, is likely to be a disaster and i have no wish to see him punted about from pillar to post especially as he came to me as a rescue. Neither my wife or I want to PTS unless absolutely necessary so that leaves management. Thus far the problem only arises in t
