  1. There must be some real talented dog lads on here, able to judge exactly how a dog will work from just one picture, impressive.
  2. You only want me for my dog lol! All sorted as per text. See you there
  3. Yeah, its a bit of a trek. If its just me then i'll probabley not come, all depends on whether i can find a co pilot! Lol. Its a shame all the local shows are crap
  4. Are you going Tyla? Im not sure TBH. I was going with a couple of mates to split the driving and fuel, they've both dropped out so not so sure now. Will you be making an appearance?
  5. Buy a set of cheap rachet straps, ideally a bright colour, and cut into sections of the right length to suit you and the dog including enough to tie a wrist loop and burn the other end to stop it fraying. Job done, you get several slips, cheap as chips, bright so their hard to loose and easy to find, comfy on the wrist and slick through the collar. They also work well as a game carrier
  6. My pup at the end of last season. Bred by sussexpoacher out of Jess, in the pic above, a drakeford bred bitch and sired by his colliexgrey.
  7. Never saw the film but the book was something special
  8. I want to fit a sling to a side by side, im not sure i like the idea of fitting a stud to the fore end so is there anything available to attach to the barrel? Cheers
  9. Walmart, the only shop I've ever been in where you could buy your groceries in one aisle and a shotgun in the next! I spent a while in Texas years ago but never did any hunting, it was only later i realised what a wasted opportunity it was!
  10. An enjoyable read, more posts like this and less of the other kind and you'd get less stick. I love hearing about how its done overseas, one day I'll get out there to see.
  11. It wasn't about hounds mate, and not really about situations in which you can blow a horn, or really much use it it back tracks to you. If that makes any sense? It was initially stuck in the lurcher section. Ah right i wouldnt really like my lurcher's going on that far that i would need a tracking collar they do go on abit sometimes with the hounds but usualy come looking for me after 10 min's if they have missed I think its when they have gone on a bit but not missed that hes concerned about
  12. Has anyone tried this? http://www.screwfix.com/p/garmin-gtu10-asset-tracking-device/30771?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Datafeed-_-Automotive-_-Garmin%20GTU10%20Asset%20Tracking%20Device Sounds like it would do the job combined with googlemaps on your phone?
  13. I agree, the quarry should've been finished far quicker but thought some of the dogs werent bad just too many of them. It looked an unavoidable mess as they were using the little houndy things to flush so they were obviously going to pile straight into a catch and there were loose dogs everywhere. I bet most of the injuries could have been avoided by stabbing the pigs a bit quicker too.
  14. I think she's going to provide alot of fun and some stress, I hope the ratio works out the right way!!! I reckon she'll certainly keep you fit too!
  15. I've seen a buzzard actively targetting feeding woodys, coming over a hedge fast and trying to grab one as they got up. I didnt see it suceed but was on the job several days and it kept on trying all that time, I went and checked the field once and there were alot of feathers spread about but no kills. I wouldnt have thought it'd waste the energy if it had never suceeded though?
  16. Hey Dan, what about immigration legalities, work permits and such? If its as easy as you make it sound I'll do it! Im a carpenter, my wifes an ecologist and we have plenty of dogs to bring, could easily live for a while on the rents from property over here too. I think there'll be more to it than it first appears, i've travelled a fair bit and pretty much the only place that'll take anyone anytime is here! lol
  17. Hello Dan, if you want to go for a traditional lurcher type then go for the collie cross. If you want something with a bit more fire then try the jagd, people have been using terrier crosses, mainly bull or bedlington, here for years. I've not heard of a jadg cross here but then there are very few jagds over here. It will all depend on what kind of hunting you'll be doing and what quarry. ATB
  18. If I lived your life style it would be a Theoben Fenman or one of the other gas ram rifles, ideally in in .20.
  19. Looks like the best kind of weekend, Im jealous - spent mine refurbing the house! Nice dogs too.
  20. It depends what the packs like that you'll be hunting with, some like smart dress others aren't bothered. You wont go far wrong with clean moleskins and a country shirt. Best thing would be to ask whoever is taking you with them. Hope you enjoy it
  21. Followed a pack of them hunted as rabbit hounds, funny little hounds but seemed to know their job
