  1. Your certainly getting about this season, well done mate
  2. Theres a few with a pack of rabbit hounds that were hunting down this way, not sure if they still are though
  3. They are lovely to see, we have virtually none round here so its a treat to go somewhere like that just to watch them
  4. Good post, its easy to forget how big and varied it is over there
  5. Sounds like a good little wander, sometimes its nice to just keep it local and chilled out
  6. Let me know if you are, if its the right gun im sure we could sort something out RFD to RFD
  7. As above, Im based in Sussex but willing to travel for the right rifle. Would consider a whole set up, scope, moderator etc. Thanks
  8. If you're using nightvision can you see someone else's nightvision, either IR or image intensifier? Only if they are using an IR illuminator or laser, if they are using it passively then you shouldn't be able to see. Home cctv cameras can pick up the IR too which is worth remembering, had a neighbour come out one night, it was pitch black but he could see the laser on his cameras. Luckily it was permission.
  9. I use it and rate it, it has to be the top dollar ones though. The one we use isnt mine, its a grands worth of digisight and belongs to a mate, he uses it on a rifle but when we're out with the dogs takes it off and spots for me. Its bloody good and cuts the time the lamp is on which is a definate bonus in some places. I bought a cheaper one and its just nothing like as good.
  10. Good post as always Our ratting season starts Sunday, should be a good day fingers crossed
  11. Yet another welsh raid on Sussex! This is becoming a habit! lol. Sorry I missed you this time mate, you had the perfect weather for it!
  12. I know the ground i run on well day and night and always walk a place by day first before lamping it. The only exception is when your someone elses guest, then you have to rely on them knowing the ground.
  13. Well done Paddy! Sounds like you made the best of a less than perfect night, nothing beats a pups first rabbit, I bet Yeeharr was stoked! Speak soon
  14. Hunting with hounds is legal but hunting with running dogs isnt as far as i understand it.
  15. Thanks anyway mate. Still looking by the way if anyone else has got one?
  16. I know its a bit of a long shot this early in the season but does anyone have any spare call birds yet? We need to get an early start as we have a massive over population of magpies. Contact by PM please. ATB
  17. Some days are just b*****ds, got my fingers crossed for Rudie ATB
  18. Im always up for a go. Just let me know the plan
  19. A big thank you to Leegreen for his invite last night. I got to his for about 11 and, after a chat and some potroasted goose and rice, we got going. I was running Willow, my first season pup, and Lee was running Pixie, his bullx bitch. The weather was variable, either nice gusty wind or flat calm. It obviously didnt phase the rabbits too much though, they were out, not in any great numbers but Willow and Pixie made the most of what was there. We ended up on 9, should've been 10 but Willow dropped one, I lost track of who caught what but they were pretty even both catching most of what
  20. Sorry I've missed this thread, it was great to finally meet up Jai - I have no doubt we'll do it again sometime soon. It was a nice morning out just a shame that, yet again, real life interfered with a decent days hunting! On the point about travel i disagree with you Cookie, the different types of terrain and the way they vary the sport are some of my favourite things about hunting. I'd far sooner put the money in the tank and go visiting than just keep to local ground, the dogs in particular benefit far learning different ground. The reason I found this post so late is that I've been
  21. one word ANTI.end of You dont have to be an "anti" to dislike baiting. Its long in the past and best left there in my opinion.
  22. A very good offer, there should be youngsters jumping at it. Just be sure to be picky about who you take
  23. Bugger. Never lost a collar but did have to dig six foot to get on back once. The wide mk3 collars are the worst for it
  24. I hope some of that is being saved for my next visit? lol
