  1. Cheers Joe, i'll send a pic once he's tried it. Little moron is in sick bay today after trying to pick on one of the lurchers. Sometimes I do wonder what goes through his head .....
  2. If one will fit mine I will take you up on that UG, a very generous offer. Cheers
  3. Owen - I don't know his name I was too pissed. One of the lads that came to Jai's bought a vest but wasn't going, just thought he might want to sell it. I thought he came with you but might be mixed up. Any ideas Jai? Micky - My dog is a heavy built 16" tts terrier type thing. I can sort out measurements if it would help? I have an alpha receiver and two collars, I will obviously be using one on mine if he is coming so have a spare. the unit can take more collars though if that's any help. They are about £200. They have to be alpha collars though as it cant talk to the astro ones.
  4. Owen - has your mate, who bought the extra vest but then dropped out of the trip, still got it? If he still has it and it'll fit my mutt I would be interested
  5. I have radios, some good and some shit. Not been used for a while but will test them if we need them.
  6. Lol, it's so tempting. How long did it take to get the vests?
  7. I've just spoken to Jai, he's definitely still in so that's an extra man and two hounds. Is it a lack of cover dogs that's the problem?
  8. Wales - yeah, that's the plan. Assuming you're still happy with it? DnN - Jai isn't on your list, don't tell me he's bailed out???
  9. I'm paid up, lift sorted and raring to go! Really looking forward to it
  10. Bit of live yoghurt is worth a try, had the same with mine after worming and westy suggested it, I tried it and it seemed to work. Some meds kill all the good gut bacteria which can mess up their digestion.
  11. Over keen or tired maybe? One of mine is live to hand til he's getting knackered then he starts killing them before retrieving. I think he does it to make them easier to carry. Another one will crunch rabbits for the first few runs of early season sessions then starts bringing them live to hand once she settles to it. Not the end of the world in my opinion unless you are selling all your catch.
  12. Might used to be a truly useless thing if run in season. I got fed up with it and got her spade and shes benn far better since
  13. It was just a thought, i got one as a spotter and i'm so pleased with it I thought it might be an option. I barely do any night shooting though, certainly not enough to justify another unit. Thanks for the feedback, probably saved me a lot of messing about.
  14. Green garden trolley £45 on ebay, couldn't make it for this money. Goes anywhere and carries up to 300kg. Wont let me post the link

  16. Our bushing is mainly for rabbits and the packs is made up of several packs owned separately. We used to be out weekly but real life and a fluctuating rabbit population has put paid to that. The base of the pack are 5 jrt bitches who provide most of the cover work and a beddy/whip/grey bitch who is totally wed to bushing and does nothing else. These are all owned by a member on here who also owns the farm we usually work. My pack consists of a strong mongrel terrier who bushes well out on his own with runners but has a tendency to allow the smaller bitches to do the lions share of the work in
  17. You write a good read jigsaw, cheers me up when I see a new post from you on here as its always a good one. Not enough people, myself included, are putting posts up like this and its what makes the forum good. Well done dogs and writer
  18. I don't bother with rabbits or anything small but deer are collected anytime I get the chance. Need checking to make sure they aren't smashed but if they been hit front end then hauches and loin are worth taking. I prefer to take those cuts and leave the rest as paunching after an RTA can be messy.
  19. Has anyone tried fitting the above to a day scope and was it successful? Cheers
  20. I would recommend finding out and using the landowners name, it shows you've made an effort. Also remove any reference to lurchers or dogs in general. Once you have the ferreting and shooting permission and proved your self you can bring the dog into it. Sometimes its worth a season ferreting dogless just to get trusted. Insurance is also a good idea.
  21. I was hoping Penny would comment on here, I think the above is likely to be the best advice you're going to get
  22. Fair enough mate, I edited my post after writing it as you can see. Sounds like an awkward one, if it's defiance rather than fear maybe an e collar?
  23. Sounds to me like you've given her a hiding for it at some point so now when she knows she's done wrong she's scared to come back. Might be wrong but that's what it sounds like. As for your two options being rehome or PTS - REALLY???? How about put the effort in and get it sorted? Maybe a new hobby in order? edited to say; My bad, just read the posts not the dates. If you been trying since April you're obviously putting the effort in. Thought about taking her to someone who's got more experience with the breed? Might be worth a go?
  24. Most regret selling my old webley Vulcan and most regret not buying a .20 fenman before they became like hens teeth
  25. Fair enough, wasn't criticising just asking the question which you have now answered. Good luck for the season and may be dogs do well for you. ATB
