  2. Great , thanks for the reply`s £9 a day
  3. 1.50 skinned and gutted but recently he's been swamped with them. i assume its blokes looking for a bit of extra cash, its a bit of a pain as last time he didnt have space to take mine so they got given to the local BOP centre im surprised your guy is taking them if your shooting them with the shotty, my bloke will only take netted, snared or head shot.
  4. The small pic is the cretan hound for you The others are dogs from tanzania, the shaggy one is a herd / guard dog named Simba belonging to our masaii, these are very game and very loyal - they have to be dealing with hyena etc. They are mainly guards as the masaii dont eat game but can be used for hunting. The others are our yard dogs in zanzibar, they dont really have a job except guarding the house but the same kind of dogs from the village are used for hunting dik dik, which are very small antelope, and feral pigs.
  5. Looks like a good day out, lovely looking dogs, they're a credit to you. Doing the job too, well done
  6. Not sure about the weihrauch but Field Target Trophy go well through my falcon
  7. i have lived and travelled alot in southern africa and have always wondered about the dogs there. They are mostly stray or feral but can be kept as pets or hunting dogs by the locals. We have a house in tanzania and while we were living there we collected a few as yard dogs. They tend to be yellowish in colour with some being pied and are of medium size. i always fancied putting one across a greyhound or whippet as they are very hardy, clever, game dogs. They are used with nets for hunting small antelope and wild pigs by the locals so i think they would do the job. i will try and get some
  8. i could enter that one, had to dig 6 foot to rescue the collar last season
  9. Your brave, it was -8 and bright as day here last night and tonights not much better! Makes no odds to me though as both the dogs are waiting for stitches to be pulled Good ferreting weather though off out tomorrow first thing Well done victor, seems like you are hooked!
  10. Hi Tyla, I know quite a few local hunters and none of them know anyone with lurchers. They gave me the idea of the Cretan Hound (Kritikos Ichnilatis). This dog is the oldest breed in Europe (4000years). They are quite scarce, mainly bred for show. Most of the hunters use the shoot and retrieve method but there is the odd one here and there who has the Cretan Hound. It's a bit Like the JRT situation, show strain and working strain. atb kriti Sounds like an interesting dog, do you have any pics? i take it they are a sight hound type? Perhaps you could arrange a cross using one of them as
  11. This might be a silly question but have you tried looking locally? i have never been to crete but spent a long time in cyprus which, i believe, has a similar culture. There was no evidence of hunting but if you asked the right people there were hunting clubs. Once you get in with the local hunters you might find that they have a cretan lurcher equivilent that would suit the terrain and allow you to get started right away rather than wait for a breeding program to pay off? Good luck and good hunting, let us know what happens
  12. This one is the litter brother to it. Turning into a cracking ferreting dog!
  13. Good to see the dog working well for you mate, well done
  14. i watched the duck one last night. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!! Talk about highlighting seperation between the classes, no wonder the man in the street thinks all hunters are rich, pompous snobs. Why did the producers do that? it turned what could have been an excellent chance to get our point across into a farce that pandered to the antis desire for all hunters to be portrayed as toffs.
  15. Same here, i would be very interested to learn a bit more about these kind of crosses.
  16. Shot a starling with a BSA Meteor from the hip in flight when i was 11 or 12, total fluke! i could/would never do it again and, even then, i dont know who was more surprised, me or the starling!
  17. Sounds like you need a proper airgun, what was it a gatgun? i know its only a rat but have a bit of respect.

    What lost this?

lol A bitsa lurcher bitch 24" and JRTxWhippet 19" The hairs are fairly coarse with tiny roots and were just lying around in clumps. They are fawnish grey at the roots shading to dark brown or black at the ends. it is a bit greasy feeling and dosent really smell. That might be because i had it in a plastic nappy bag to bring back. Labradoodle - if thats your fringe i wouldnt like to see the rest of your hair!

Bunch of funny f*ckers it was in a busy country park in devon, i was thinking one of the deer species as there was no noise. i dont know much about boar but i would think they make a fair bit of noise if threatened
  22. Any ideas? Found in thick conifer woodland in devon after the dogs had a go at something.
