im interested to hear of anyones experiences of netting in different countries. i have no idea if nets are used in the rest of europe although i have seen them used to catch small antelope in tanzania. i would assume they are used all over the place to catch all sorts of quarry but i have just never heard of it, i look forward to being enlightened!

i think a fox would just jump the net, they're not daft. if you did catch one i think the potential for the net getting ripped or the dogs tangled in it is pretty high. You could end up with your long net wrapped around 2 pissed off dogs and 1 pissed off fox, sounds like a recipe for getting bitten to me! Still i have never tried it so i might be wrong

Bloody brilliant!!! if everyone on here spent there time writing posts like that, rather than arguing over next to nothing, think how much more everyone would get out of this site! i hope there is plenty more to come

are falcons any good ?? ive been offerd a bearcat for £ Buy it. Titan is basically an old school FN series falcon. They are good single shot rifles, alot of the falcon parts fit them so servicing shouldnt be too much of a problem. i still shoot a FN19 and it works for me!

Theres plenty of people with more experience than me doing that already, i just enjoy making things (its nice to do it on the cheap too ) but thanks for the vote of confidence!

Thanks, im pleased with it. Had its first outing today, ten rabbits all in the long net and the basket works fine. Now i need two more for the other nets i dont know how much the steel costs as it was given to me but it cant be expensive. i will find out tomorrow as i need enough for two more.

Ok, i wanted to build a basket and even after searching on here couldnt find an easy guide with sizes. This is my attempt, seems good to me but i am by no means an expert so anyone with any good alterations let me know i started with 5mm mild steel rod, cut it with grinder to sizes below and bent it to shape by hand using a vice. See pic of parts below 2 x Back pieces @ 22" 1 x Hoop @ 51" 2 x Pole stops @ 13" 2 x Strap holders @3.5" Then had a mate weld it together, see next pic, and smoothed off welds with the grinder. Sprayed it with hammerite, black wouldve been good bu

Tyla replied to JPTfellterrier's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
i can tell you how i did it....all i did was watch that kill it, cook it, eat it thing on rabbits and did it how it said on there ...i have no perants to show me how to do these things, showed my dad my skinned hare and he said it was "discusting"...im defonatly the odd one out in my family Good on you girl! i think you are in the process of proving a few people on here wrong! My fiance has her own dogs, hunts and kills her quarry but i end up with all the cleaning and preperation at the end of the day so i reckon your doing alright. it was exactly the same with my parents, they ha -
We have one of the pups from that litter, hes a good little worker. Very good at ferreting, bushes well and works the lamp although he needs more practice at the lamping. Overall i am pleased with him, does everything we want from him and should make a good dog next season oncehes had more experience.

Shes looking good still. Hows the head gasket, fixed yet?
-
Yeah, i was pleased with him today. i shall just keep plugging away, im sure we will get there in the end. it does him a world of good working alongside yours, he comes on leaps and bounds everytime they are out together. Parker did well too! A good day allround The ferrets are enjoying that moorhen too!

Myself and a mate went out ratting today with herdwick off here. We took herdwicks four experienced jrts, Parker my jrtxwhippet and Ollie my borderxunknown. Parker has only ever killed rats round the stables and Ollie is totally green at everything as we've only had him a few weeks. We started out on an island used to feed a flight pond, lots of holes and rat sign but not recent so we drew a blank, same story in the pen and the cover crop. The smoker, converted from a saw last night, was also playing up but luckily the landowner had some tools so we got it going again. At the second lo

i might come down to this one, did anyone find out about camping?

She cut up her stopper pad on flint and its been bad ever since, had it stitched, healed nice and it opened up, then stapled it, healed up good again and had been ok but started to open up yesterday even with the strapping so shes back off work again. Hardly run her at all this season, its a real pisser

What you have is a right nuisance, i know because i have the same problem. Mine is down to two things, starting her too young because i was an idiot and then she started it again when she came back from a long lay up after injury. Mine is ok when shes worked regular and her confidence is up but it does happen when shes not been worked for a while but usually only until she catches then she goes back to being quiet. if you work out how to stop it then please tell me as i cant stop mine! its a case of getting used to it or getting rid i think but dont take my word for it as im nowhere near

A very good seasons ferreting but crap for the dogs, a long succession of injuries and shite weather. They are, finally, both fit now (touch wood) so should get a bit in before all the grass gets too high. After that its the air rifle to keep on top of the rabbits and, hopefully, learning to flyfish properly

A good bag considering the conditions i wish we had some reed beds like that round here, seems like they offer good sport

The screwfix one? if it is you wont be disappointed, for me its the perfect tool for the job

i rate them very highly, been shooting a FN19 .20 since 1999 and it must have accounted for vast amounts of game in that time. i cant fault the accuracy, my only complaint is that i have had to replace the cocking lever twice as they become loose with use but in ten years thats not too bad considering the amount of use it gets!

That would be good although we are only a quarter of the way down that hedge line so theres plenty to go at there. Never did get as far as those open buries we were aiming for but they will be there for next time Best finish there first then, as its fairly easy going along that hedge. Give us a shout when you're coming next. :thumbs-up: i will be there sunday with the terrier for either bushing or ratting depending on whether we can get the smoker sorted. its running fine but the pipe has come off the exhaust so cant attach the tube i will have a proper look at it on saturd

Definately a good idea to pin it, clear, concise and, most importantly, very useful!!!
