  1. Cheers lads, when I was a few years older than him I was what you might call a bit of a wrong-un, I always remember when my mam and dad went to the school and a teacher telling them that I didn’t hang around with the wrong crowd, I was the wrong crowd, then someone took me out with the dogs, then fishing and then shooting and that was it, that was all I wanted to do, if them couple of lads hadn’t done that for me who knows where I would of ended up, some of the nicest most genuine people I know are all part of our shooting community and this lads definitely on the right track to become one of
  2. So every time I see my little mate from the shoot he asks me if I have had any foxes and next time I’m out can he come, now he’s been out a few times now on the rabbits and his shooting has got better and better, so I’m thinking maybe it’s time to give him a go at a ginger, now I don’t want him to think this is an easy thing but on the other hand I didn’t want to turn up somewhere not knowing if there’s any chance of getting a shot off, so over the past couple of weeks I’ve had the camera out on some local fields, I’ve had bait out and had nothing for the first week, then Charlie showed up, i
  3. I’ve found hare distress pull in hares and rabbit distress just brings in owls, I’ve had a barn owl drop onto the caller once
  4. You are welcome mate, hope some of them do the trick for you ???
  5. It will be a clip on or one of them for the kids with a bit of elastic to go over his head
  6. That’s a proper “ git orf my land “ grumpy farmer look ? glad you managed to get out on your first day and made the best of it, even with all the rain, the birds must be well and truly sick of all this wet weather now, unless it dry’s out a bit getting them to fly is going to be a problem, although we had some good shooting last time there was still a lot making a run for it, we are out again next Saturday and looking at the weather we could have a bit more rain towards the end of the week
  7. I would definitely give £250 for that as a hide gun, I read a couple of reviews and they say well built and reliable, so for that price I don’t think you could go wrong ?
  8. Top man coot, always nice to help a fellow shooter out if you can ?????
  9. Nice going SD, fantastic way to spend a day, house work for me today ( only because it’s pouring down you understand) I’ve been at it for 3 hours now and thought I’d have a wander out with the shotgun until I looked out the window and seen one of the missus pet rabbits doing lengths of the garden, so it looks like I’m stuck in today, hope the rain holds off for you philpot so that has time to get away before it’s at your door
  10. Oh yes, I mean snow ️ I love being out in it on the pheasants ?
  11. It’s been a bit wild up here this afternoon, as long as it’s gone by tomorrow night so I can get out and about for a bit, Wales have had some proper game shooting weather, hopefully we will have a bit of that a week on Saturday for our next day
  12. The main reason I went for the dpt mod for the .17 was the weight, like others have said the sound will be no different to the SAK, on another note I’m my opinion it looks better, it’s thinner and this one is 6” long so with rifles like the short tikka it gives the impression of a longer rifle, this one is also flush fit, not over barrel, I have a SAK on the .22 and I can’t fault that but on the centre fire I don’t think I’d use anything else now
  13. The centre fire mods are about £250, if you are wanting one for the .22 or .17 they are between £70 and £100, I paid £80 for the one in the picture
  14. Whooo, finally managed to get back on, I use dpt mods now because you are able to strip them fully and you will need to because this is a dirty little round, you can also customise them by adding sections ( this is mainly for the centre fires ) they weigh nothing so you don’t even know it’s on, you will always get muzzle crack, but the mod will dampen it down and to be fair the distance you will be shooting, they have no idea where it’s coming from, I’ve shot a full family at over 100 yards and they don’t seem bothered by any noise or there mates falling over next to them
  15. Yes mate, off the trigger sticks, just as well because this one buggered off across the field but with the sticks going 360 I could just follow it without moving the sticks, the lad I take with me sometimes won’t use them, he is obsessed with these wooden quad stick, by the time he has finished rattling them about anything that was there had made a run for it
  16. Although this chap came running in and we called the other down the field near the farm, nothing called back which was a bit strange, we normally hear them before we see them, the fox rut can’t be in full swing up here yet ?
  17. A trip up to the sheep farm tonight and it didn’t look to promising, clear skies and no wind, within 10 minutes of being there it clouded over and started to rain a little, setting the caller out 60 yards away on a fence post we set it away with the vixen in heat on full volume, after 10 minutes or so the eyes were seen coming up the field directly in front of us, it was within 60 yards when my mate put the lamp on it at which point it decided to go left across the field to the far hedge back, stopping only for a second to look towards the caller as it started again, a squeeze of the trigger
  18. I’m not one to brag when I’m hanging out with the A listers ? Haha, is tatler still going, I could be a bit of cover eye candy for the ladies ?
  19. Haha the fat lad next to the truck looking through the thermal, yep, that was me ?
  20. I had a cameo appearance in his last foxing video, I’m hopefully going back down before Christmas for a mixed bag of shooting, depending on mine and his work
  21. Lovely little write up coot and a pair of fine beasts for your efforts, its Always nice to make the most of it, friends, food and shooting, it’s what it’s all about ?
  22. After a fantastic day yesterday, back to reality today feeding up, absolutely freezing, managed to get the quad stuck because I was to lazy to walk 150 yards to a feeder, still with two of us on the job we had it cracked off in under 3 hours
  23. You should of given us a shout, you would of went past the back of the shoot if you came up Sutton bank, we could of put you in the beating line ?
