Definitely worth a trip out, nice shooting and it looks a lovely place to be ?
-
Well, where to start, as Hugo’s dad is serving a centrefire ban for his horrific shooting last time it was me on the rifle and him on the lamp, with the caller 50 yards out in the field it was about 20 minutes before the first one came charging towards the caller, he lit it up as it reached the caller and in a split second it was down. We decided to give it a bit longer as we had good cover from the moon, 45 minutes passed and we decided to move on, off he went to gather the caller and the cub, I ran the spotter around the field and there’s two sets of eyes looking at him walking up the field
-
One down, came running in to the caller ?

The birds are looking a lot more settled this evening, all getting up on roost back at the pens, not only do they seem happier but me also after yesterday’s fiasco, now it’s time to go on fox patrol ?
-
I would of said .410 would be the best bet, followed by 28 bore, I hope you can make this happen for her and that she’s well enough to enjoy the experience, creating another happy memory for you both at a very sad time best wishes stav

I thought it might of been because operation ewe-tree caught up with him ( see what I did there ) ??
-
I’d be very happy with 52 for 60, cracking job ?
-
Back up at the shoot, still raining and as I came down the track a buzzard lifted with a poult, another 3 dead with their heads removed, I’ve lifted the wire and found one that isn’t going to make it on the up side they seem to be not far from the pens ?
-
Wow, that’s all I have to say ????
-
I almost went to the sheep farm but looking at the weather tomorrow seems a better option
-
I’m back up at the shoot in the morning and as it’s rained solidly for 48 hours I’m going to lift the wire on the pens, they need to be out of there
-
Do you want to be my dad ? top man, what a cracking gun for him to learn his craft ?
-
If I’m on a pestie Canada job, 9 times out of 10 I rifle them, still nice now and then to get them flighting In onto the water ive never been a massive fan of the meat, but a lad that sometimes comes with me likes it, he checks them by squeezing the beaks, he says the softer the beak the younger the bird

I constantly moan about the weather, it’s to hot, it’s to cold, it’s to windy, it’s raining, mad really because I don’t like being in the house ?
-
They spoil you ?
-
It’s the same this side, my mates tearing his hair out, he’s still got 700 acres of wheat to cut
-
I hope so, If this keeps up I’m going to part ex my pheasants for ducks ?
-
I like them all, but that deer is stunning ?
-
My turn to do the birds today, I thought it was wet last time I was up but I’d of been better off in a boat, considering how wet they are they don’t look bad at all, there’s birds all over but not to far from the pens and they know where they live, after feeding I did a few jobs in the barn and put some fuel in the quad because it seems to evaporate ( whenever Hugo’s dad has been up, funny that ) on the way out I checked the pen closest to the farm and it seemed the majority of birds had made their way back and were getting up on roost, so all good so far, I’d just like to see a bit of sun to

I lost count of how many shots I had and how many times I messed up loading trying to get more shots off quicker

I was born crazy ? -
I’ve never been a fan of clays, mainly because my shotgun shooting frustrates me and when I’m paying for it I get annoyed when I miss, I’ve done simulated game once and I really liked that ( although expensive) no left to right and no single targets, it’s definitely the closest thing to driven game, most drives they had 6 standing guns and they make you wait, you then got a couple of clays overhead so you think you know where they are coming from then the flush starts and they come from everywhere, we did a partridge drive and to do it right you would of needed a loader and to double gun ?

Funnily enough the Quorn factory is next to the fields where the geese spend their days ?
-
I went past some fields that I’ve tried to get permission on many times before and there was easily 2000 birds on it, a mix of Canada and lag, the reason I can’t shoot on there is it’s at the back of an RSPB site at the mouth of the river tees, it baffles me that foxes are controlled on there but not the geese, the site is big but not big enough to support flying cows in them numbers, they must see the effect they have on the other fowl, I have to hand it to the RSPB, the site is amazing and the amount of different birds in one area is great but it’s definitely not big enough to support that a
