  1. Out on our weekly therapy session tonight and as the crop is starting to come down I thought I’d give him a go at the foxes, telling him he would be behind the .243 we arrived at the cut barley, where he produced the biggest bi-pod I’ve ever seen and continued to tell me that he was going to fit it to the rifle so he could sit down, I told him that he wouldn’t see over straw but he seemed adamant that it’s ok and as it was his night I let him get on with it, I took the mouse gun to bag a bit of bait and did so as soon as we arrived, with the land been as big as it is I’ve started baiting up t
  2. How far apart were they, you may of created the first .410 to shoot like a punt gun
  3. That seems to be the case over this way, I’ll be giving it an hour on the cut barley later, it’s the first time in a very long time we have found fox earths on that land
  4. We are the same over this way, we are waiting for the rape to come down around the shoot and a couple of farms, everything is running a bit late this year with not getting long enough breaks in the weather over the last week or so, all the barley is down now so that’s giving us a few to go at, it must of been a good year for them as there’s a couple of places that we only ever seen the odd one or two over the winter where they have now taken up residents
  5. Your trotters must be aching after 11 miles in an evening, I’ve only ever shot a large pig farm near York a couple of times and they do hold fox in good numbers, I gave the lad who invited me a day on the pheasants as a thank you and when he was out with me he was telling me that he shoots a couple of really big egg units as well and the pigs always produced more foxes for him

  13. I didn’t go looking for it as I’d lost the light and didn’t have a lamp with me because I wasn’t planning on staying until it got dark, I also knew that me or the farmers lad would be there this morning, it turn out that it was closer than I had thought, he rang me to say it was in the second cut where as I thought it was on the hedge back, so there’s a good chance I wouldn’t of found it last night, where I thought it was is about 135 yards, where it actually was will of been under 100, I asked him could he send me a picture of it for my records and his reply was “ what you doing taking pictur
  14. With that little foxy fecker playing on my mind I thought I’d give it an hour before I lost the light, on arrival I headed to the rear field where the miss happened as I came to the end of the hedge back I spotted the little begger crossing the field on a public right of way, unable to take the shot as I would be shooting in the direction of a caravan park I got myself set up at the top of the field hoping to draw it up the field with the hare call, giving it 40 minutes or so and starting to loose the light I spotted a shadow making its way from the front field along the far hedge back, so th

  16. For starters I’d have to be able to hit the first one ?
  17. A good few years back I was out with a mate of mine fox shooting about this time of year and spotted a cub about 120 yards or so away, now at the time he was using a 30-06, I know this is way over the top but he liked it, anyway he took the shot with the fox side on and down it went, as we walked over it became apparent that there was two on the ground mirroring each other, it must of been exactly in line with the first one when he took the shot
  18. Think I’m going to give the hare call a go or sobbing northern ?
  19. Definitely the £1.50, I’m not bloody made of money
  20. With the first fields of cut barley I gave the long one a shout and off we went for a wander for an hour, walking the hedgebacks coming across a lot of foxy evidence we set ourselves up the other side of the field with the wind blowing at us, with the caller on a mouse call we gave it 30 minutes or so, nothing showing so turned to rabbit distress, a few minutes in and up popped Charlie exactly were we thought it would come from, so up with the rifle and at no me than 130 yards you would think it was a done deal, but not in this case, as soon as I squeezed the trigger I knew the shot wasn’t goo
