We’ve got loads on the shoot, I haven’t kept count of how many I’ve shot this year because I just shoot them mainly off the feeders as I’m going round on the quad, but it’s a lot, I’ll be taking a few young guns from the shoot in February for a squizzer shoot and drey blasting

To be fair I shoot rabbits and squirrels with the.243 and that works out about £1.70 each ? the price of ammo is ridiculous now
-
I got 250 clear pigeon yesterday for my seasonal wandering’s with my sheep farmer mate, 85 quid, I almost fell over, it makes you think twice about pulling the trigger

It did a fair bit of damage with us, with a good few posts down and a couple of trees down on the wire, my third pen, over what I know as the valley is wrecked and hasn’t been used for a couple of years, I said this to the shoot captain earlier and all he said was “ it won’t take you long to put it right “ ?

It’s a nice compliment and they’ll look after me ( I got a very big tip off them all last Saturday) it’s not all about the money, once the birds are in I like doing it and I know I can make a couple of new drives, if I decide to do it I’ll start work on it as soon as the season finishes, instead of rushing about in June and July Get on them lemsips mate, we need to get out on these deer after Boxing Day ?

Feeding at first light this morning and there’s still a good few about, they are holed up where it’s dry and warm, it was absolutely freezing there this morning with a bitter wind. There’s a few roe deer knocking around, it wasn’t long ago that you didn’t see them around these parts I’ve just had the shoot captain on the phone asking what was about and where they were, he then went on to ask, did I want to do it next season, did I want to put another 400 birds down and did I want to repair the valley pen or put another pen up ( possibly over the piggeries) steady on I said, let’s get thi

Quick turn round on variation

Did you put in for a sound mod to go with that Dave ? ? -
You can’t predict the weather but one thing’s for certain, a few birds, a few shots, some nice nibbles and some good people and it’s going to be a good day ? ( just got fingers crossed that we get to see the season out now, without another bloody lockdown ?)

Lovely end to the day, finished for the year, new boiler fitted, so house nice and warm and cottage pie, roastie’s and a bit of veg ?
-
Not true ? my RFD has a load of Winchester and a few hornady but the other week had none, it’s a bit hit and miss when they get them in but that’s the same with a lot of ammo at the minute
-
Still nice to be out, hoping to be out a few days myself over the festive period ?

Day 4 ( my day and the Christmas shoot ) not the best day weather wise, with thick fog all day, the birds just didn’t know what was expected of them once they got above the trees, they were getting up and a fair few went back on themselves or sat in the tops of the trees once they reached the fog, we did the usual drives, first off was the “ tip drive “ and again some good birds came for the end of this drive, my guest Mosh took probably the 2 birds of the day from this one, next was “ Gordon’s pen “ and as expected the birds couldn’t deal with the fog but at least everyone got a few shots off

At the risk of sounding like a sanctimonious tw*t, I like to give people the opportunity to do something they wouldn’t normally get to do, a lot of people involved in all kinds of shooting don’t let anyone else in, I’ve been very lucky over the years with the land I’ve got and the people who have helped me, but it all started from one lad taking me out and trusting me not to go behind his back ? I’ve got my sheep farmer mate ( it’s his birthday shoot, so he gets to shoot all day ) and Robin Foxer ( of that YouTube) who’s been coming for the past half dozen years, it’s a bit of a

Up to the shoot for first light this morning to feed and sort a few things out for tomorrow, it was absolutely freezing ? but still a lovely place to be, tomorrow is my day and the Christmas shoot, I have a couple of guests shooting so it’s down to me to look after everyone tomorrow, so for elevenses I’ve gone for leek and potato soup, corn beef and potato pie and bramble gin and Prosecco, fingers crossed everyone has a cracking day ?

I’ll let him know, because I’ll be fu*ked if I’m doing it ?
-
That’s the sh*t, bitumen paint, I think there’s some membrane to go on as well, didn’t show to much interest in case he thinks I’m going to do it
-
Beats burying a 40 foot container ?I’ve already got the electric and water to it, he’s been trying to get me involved in tanking it, he can sod off with that sh*t
-
Block and beam roof on the underground garden room ( sex dungeon) I put the foundation in for the other week, sick as fu*k I was meant to be finished for Christmas by now but the lad can’t do anything for himself, I was only meant to be putting the concrete and steels in

Feeding this morning and with the thick fog it was still dark up there at 8, nothing had quite woken up when I set out and there was still a lot of birds around the pens, heading over the piggeries with the fog through the trees there was quite a few deer about, by the time I got to the main feed area over there I was met by a group of about 50 birds, the majority of them hens for some reason all looking at me as if to say “ where the hell have you been, we’re starving “. Next day on Saturday so with a bit of luck it will be a good one ?

Back to the sheep farm last night as I’d seen a fox on the morning, the weather seemed almost perfect, if not a little warm, seen absolutely nothing but a handful of rabbits, weird how it goes sometimes
-
I’ve just had a text off Mosh telling me he was out this morning with someone who looked exactly like me, the only way he could tell it wasn’t me was this lad could shoot ?

A lovely little walk around the sheep farm with my mate Mosh this morning, first off around the sheds where I managed 3 feral pigeons for 3 shots, I think Mosh was just as shocked as me that I’m actually hitting a few things. Then it was off around the hedge backs to see what was about, we flushed half a dozen partridges and 4 pheasants but as it’s Sunday we let them be, the rabbits weren’t so lucky, I had 2 running through the rape and connected with them both, then as we past a big oak tree a squirrel made a break for it and I nailed that to the tree, I can’t tell you the last time I shot th
