  1. I decided to brave the weather and go and feed at first light this morning as I’ve got a farmyard feral pigeon smashing job on tomorrow morning, to say it was a bit wild would be a bit of an understatement, there’s a lot of tree damage and damage to the pens, I spent the first hour clearing fallen trees from the track in, so the old girl could get in and out, on the bright side there’s a lot of birds about this cold snowy weather has kept them in and they are hammering the feed, I’m definitely going to have to take the chainsaw with me on the next feed day as there’s quite a bit of the shoot I
  2. Now we’ve had a bit of cold the vixen sexy time call will be getting a run out ?
  3. It must be bad because you have your own weather system up there ??
  4. To be fair I wasn’t sure what was going on most of the time back then, for all I know it could of been the middle of August ??
  5. You always get it bad up there, I remember been snowed in a couple of times at annfield plain and stanly in my raving days ?
  6. Mince stew and dumpling, not the best looking thing but tasted lovely and it’s definitely the weather for it
  7. All in, 16.8 cube at 350mm depth ?
  8. Steel in, just waiting for the belt mixer for the first pour at 11 ?
  9. Oh dear, this thread has taken a dark turn, I’m sure there’s a troubling story behind this that none of us need to hear ?
  10. Snap ( sort of ) horrible stuff to work with, especially when your double layering
  11. Yeah, it doesn’t look good, I’ll be back feeding probably early Saturday morning so I’ll check the camera, hopefully there will be a few on it
  12. Yeah, I’ve put it at the top of the ride over the piggeries, stepped out into the field and they were about 90/100 yards to my right on the ruff side of the piggeries, it was only about 3:15 ?
  13. Working on a proper dodgy job this week, digging out for an outside underground garden room, that will have a block and beam roof with a patio on top, they couldn’t get anyone to do it because once you take out the meter of clay there’s a meter seam of sand that’s running water, got a pump running 24 hours, steel in tomorrow then first pour on Thursday, bit different to my normal views working on posh houses Pretty sure timbers and fence posts are not up to HSE’s standard ?
  14. Back up to feed today after the weekend shoot, I didn’t see massive amounts of birds but there was birds in all the feed areas and they were on the feed as soon as I put it down, I’ve put another ( special ) feeder out with the camera on it, FH will know what this is for ? there’s a few fallow knocking about early now the weather seems to have turned, there was a definite chill in the air when I was there today
  15. The price of fert has doubled, milling wheat isn’t a kick in the arse off 300 quid now, some one told me last week where they are that oilseed rape tipped 600
  16. Stick a fork in me, I’m done topside of beef, cream mash, rosemary, thyme and garlic roast spuds, bit of veg and gravy from the meat juices And a big corn beef and potato pasty/pie type thing for me bait during the week ?
  17. Nice bit of topside on the go for today ?
  18. Cheers mate it has gone well, 2 more days in December and then they get a good rest from the 18th until the 8th of January so that will give me a bit of time to feed them where I want them, there’s a fair few woodcock come in on that moon
  19. Day number 2 over and done with and what a cracking day ( the guns words, not mine ) first drive was the tip drive and as on the first day this didn’t get going until halfway through the drive, I had one out of control dog on this one that push a big group of birds out the top of the drive towards Gordon’s pen, I wasn’t happy about this but to be fair if all them birds had of stayed in the drive it would of been a massacre. Back to the yard now for a sloe gin and a bit of pork and apple pie. Drive number 2, Oakwood, again started off very slow with a few shots then we turned the drive to push
