  1. That set up couldn’t look any more American ?? if you tried, I like it a lot, but somehow I think it would feel a bit wrong using it over here, Jesus, we still put a shirt and tie on to shoot pheasants ??
  2. A couple of years back me and my mate Rob had arranged to go to Poland to do driven wild boar, I think it was about £1500 for 3 days plus flights, then covid arrived and we couldn’t go and both of us changed employment, which limited at least my funds ? hopefully in the future we’ll get to go and do it, I even practiced a bit on rabbits ?
  3. Terrible and the boss is a bit of a dick, but there’s some lovely views and it’s a nice place to be sometimes ?
  4. Top job ?2 very nice shot placements by the looks of things ?
  5. It doesn’t work like that anymore, I’ve took over because it never works when the work is shared out between the members, people think it’s just feeding birds, but if loads of different people are going up then you don’t know how much feed is going over a certain amount of time, where the birds are and there’s always one idiot that starts moving feeders further out, every good syndicate I know of now has at least a part time keeper, after last season they came to the conclusion that they are better off paying someone to do it all, I’ll certainly never get rich from it but I won’t be out of poc
  6. Early start this morning, up at 5am, birds seem a little more settled, they seem to be taking enough feed for what is in, I am getting a few wandering down the fence in the beast field and down into the tip drive, they always do this so I went in with the quad at the bottom of the field at the back of the farm and headed up towards the tip, when I got half way up there was a group of about 40/50 along the edge of the stubble, these weren’t all ours, they were a good mix of ours, next doors and a few wildies, I could tell which were next doors, not just by the size but how when I slowly took th
  7. You’ll never go wrong with a CZ, I’ve had my little.22 for years and I’ve treated it with no respect at all and it’s never let me down, the CZ .17hmr I’ve got is unbelievable accurate, I don’t think I’d buy any other rimfire now, I also have a browning T-bolt in hmr and very rarely comes out the cabinet ?

    queen

Very sad, R.I.P our queen, I’ve never been a royalist but that lady did nothing but good for this country
  9. That’s the problem isn’t it, they fly above them all day worrying them and the just stay in the cover, there’s a hell of a lot of them compared to just a few years ago, we are starting to see a few red kites now as well, we could do without them
  10. Cheers ? it’s definitely not been the start I wanted, I think I was spoiled last season, I had no real problems at all, this morning I’d of been better with a boat than the quad, everything is hid in deep cover, oh, and I’ve got 2 drinkers that have stopped working in the forestry pen so I’ve had to put some poultry drinkers in until I can work out why they are air locking fingers crossed them buzzards get sick of pheasant for tea ??
  11. Between 500g and 750g of brambles, 150g of sugar and a cheap bottle of gin, leave it in the jar for at least 6 weeks then strain it through a Muslim, it’s miles nicer than sloe gin ? or strain through a muslin, it’s up to you ?
  12. They have to be stacked, almost like a drystone wall ( for the look ) the meter cube ones on the bottom have divider’s in them so just the expensive limestone is at the front that you can see and we drop the rubble in the back but you still have to make sure you don’t push the sides out or it’s a nightmare to get the lids closed ?
  13. I’m with both of you, it’s one thing that probably pi*ses me off, no body does it the shoot now, they all know they put them in their pocket or there’s a bucket on the pickup and don’t be firing plastic wads all over as well ( fibre or bio please) quick little story from a couple of years back now one of my biggest hates is people who drop litter, one day me and her were waiting at some traffic lights when the car beside us dropped all his McDonald’s crap out the window onto the road, I shouted “ what do you think you are doing you tw*t pick that up” to which I got a mouthful of abu
  14. Gabbions filled with limestone ( by hand ) and wired together, just need a couple hundred tonne of backfill now to fill the big hole behind them
  15. Well I’m back home now, I walked a fair few back into the cover at the back of the pen so hopefully they’ll go to the pen with their mates for a bit of munch and a sleep in a tree, I had a look over the piggeries where I’ve been baiting but it wasn’t long before the thunder rolled in and I had to spend half an hour sat in the old brick shed over there in the dark ? so no fox tonight, I did see my little group of fallow with the prickett in tow so I might treat myself to a pleasurable walk out on Sunday and have a couple of hours not thinking about these little idiots, I really don’t want to le
  16. It would of been a 10 minute walk to go and get it and I thought I’d rather go back to the car and go home for 4 hours sleep, I’d never normally leave them and if I’m out looking for them on a shooting adventure I’d definitely want to get it for a picture, but the way I feel at the minute I’d rather they just weren’t there, I’ve just pulled up in the yard again now and to be honest I can’t be arsed
  17. Well it looks like I spoke to soon, these birds in Gordon’s pen are doing my head in, they are wandering around all over, luckily there’s enough still in the pen to pull the others back at the minute but even them seem very flighty and a few have started arse pecking, a complete contrast to the forestry pen where they just seem happy, the 5 frigging buzzards that were flying around Gordon’s pen aren’t helping ether I’m getting a bit tired now, like most on here I’m a hobby shooter, most of the time making my own mind up when and where I go, normally going out 3 or 4 times a week, in the pa
  18. You da real deal Bernie Sausage ???
  19. Was starting to make good progress with the baskets then rain came and washed incy wincy stavross out so he rapped in and went home and put his feet up, hopefully I won’t get rain as heavy as that tomorrow so I can get on with facing them off with the limestone
  20. Cottage pie tonight, lovely, finish the rest off with some mushy peas tomorrow ?
  21. It’s not to sweet, use a dry Prosecco and the lemon juice is sharp so they cancel out a bit of the sweetness, if you just drank the bramble gin on its own, that’s really sweet you can feel your teeth dissolving
