    Like a summers day up there today, the big field along side the piggeries wood was only drilled a few days ago but with the wet and warm it’s already through, the birds are still wanting to be in the sun on the bank side at the back of the farm, they are still heading back to the pen to feed and roost so fingers crossed for a little more warm weather to stop them wandering into deeper cover for warmth ? oh and the deer aren’t half getting through some apples, I still haven’t seen the buggers ?

    We started doing them about 10 years ago, the first one we did was for an ex footballer Gordon McQueen and that still looks like new, it just needs jet washing once a year, when it goes off it’s really hard, but there’s no strength to it if that makes sense, it will snap like a biscuit if you get under it, a lot depends on what you lay it on, don’t put it down on anything other than concrete ?

    Cod baked in panko bread crumbs with chives, black pepper and lemon, salty skin on oven chips, lemon mayo and a bit of purple sprouting, odd combination, just using stuff up in the fridge, but nice

    I’ll have to stop setting my lip up to you, a lad I know does that and his party trick is saying punch him and before you know it he’s dropped you to the floor and you have no idea how, he’s a skinny weedy fu*ker as well ( bugger I’ve just done it again ?) he did a bit of cage fighting but stopped because he wasn’t allowed to proper hurt them ?

    I was just talking about the very same thing to the shoot captain, this bank gets the sun all day and every year that’s where they want to be, same as in the winter they want to be over the piggeries because it’s warm

    Got 3 resin jobs starting from Saturday, prepped Saturdays yesterday and put edging in for the first one next week, was meant to be putting a pin curb all the way around but them buggers have gone up to almost a tenner each and it would of taken about 65 of them, so went for charcoal driveway sets at 27p each and the look better after that off to my other job messing around with the flying chickens

    Plenty of next doors ? hopefully I can hang onto a few and the members get a couple of good days, what I really mean is I hope they hang around and the members bring guests who have a good day and feel the need to tip me well ?

    So we have worked out that they love a wander in the sunshine, I pulled up in the back yard and there was bloody loads on the stubble, so the first mission was to get the bike out and run round to the bottom of the field, I took the bike out wide around them and they all headed to the wood/tip drive, I then took the bike back to the bottom of the field and preceded to walk the edge of the wood and push between 70 and 90 birds into the beast field, these then set off up the fence towards the pen, while I was walking the wood I could hear quite a few in it so I went out into the field and back t

    I used to have a ttr 250 raid ( import ) I think it was a 93 k reg, it was before I’d done my test, I used to go everywhere on it, the slowest bike I’ve ever owned but it would go up a vertical climb ?

    It’s not a massive crop of acorns which is strange because down off the hill the trees are laden with them, what there is loads of is beach masts

    I’m feeling a bit better about them now, I was talking to my mate earlier and he was on about the amount of farm syndicates that haven’t got anything this year and will just be doing a day or two around Christmas, at least we have some, I just need to accept that it’s just a farm shoot but in the woods and I can’t be there all the time and can only do what I’m doing and it will be what it will be, just need to make sure there’s a few to go over my guests, I’m not bothered about the members ?

    He’s going to have nothing but trouble keeping them out of my oak wood drive, the whole side of the oak wood is half a field of rape and as they haven’t drilled the other side yet an left it in stubble I would have a guess that that’s going in spuds, I do like at least one drive on the shoot that’s just full of free birds ?

    Could be them bloody jackalope ? I’m not seeing a lot of traffic on the fresh drilling along the side of the piggeries but they are definitely there by the amount of apples they are getting through
