When I got my first HMR the lad in the shop said don’t treat it like any other rifle you own, clean it properly after at most 50 rounds through it, for the first couple of hundred I did but then stopped, I should take better care of it because they aren’t like any other calibre, they are really dirty, I’ve had rounds stuck in the barrel of the browning a couple of times

I’m form up “T” north, don’t think for one minute I paid for any of this stuff ? but you are right, the tetra clean and the Napier are both expensive
-
I have two different bore washes, I normally use the Tetra gun on the .17 because it’s really strong and dissolves everything, then run the bronze scrubber through it before pushing half a dozen patches through it, then it gets the Napier gun cleaner and a load more patches until they come out clean and dry

I’m interested to know what you lot do about cleaning your rifles, I’ll be honest I’m not the best at cleaning mine, a wipe over with a rag once in a while and only really clean them properly if I think there’s a problem, well today I had a couple of hours and thought I’d give all 5 a proper clean, .243, .22 and the cz .17 weren’t to bad but the browning.17 was absolutely filthy also the .223 was the same which surprised me as it hasn’t had a lot through it, I’ve got a mate who cleans his .223 every time he uses it, maybe I should start doing that

Made a ragu from yesterday’s leftover roast beef, 3 hours on the top on a low heat, it was absolutely lovely ?

We did the same when I was a kid, on my YTS £29.50 out all weekend, rabbits, deer, fish, whatever we could sell down the workie club, did it until well into my 20’s but by then you could see the numbers just weren’t there anymore -

I decided to go up mid afternoon today to see where the birds are heading back towards the pens from, I’m happy with Gordon’s pen as they are in the drives I would expect them to be in by now, not so much with forestry pen, I’m now cutting back on the feeding at forestry and feeding more in the drives surrounding the pen, with only 4 weeks until the first day I really need to push them further out, I have got a few more adult birds kicking about and just as I was heading back to the farm about 5pm there was a group of 8 adult cocks pecking at the wheat I’d scattered on my way to the piggeries, -

I love going bunny bashing at this place, there’s very few places around us that have rabbits in these numbers, I cant think of anywhere else I shoot where you can do a 100 in a night -
All parcelled up and I’ll get them posted tomorrow ?

I don’t want anything for them, I just thought someone would have a use for them ? and as for nice man, I wouldn’t go that far, I think I’m just trying to make up for all the horrific things I did when I was younger ?

Are these any good to any of you that reload, there’s 30 .243 once fired, most are Sako with a couple of Norma and there’s 30 .223 once fired and all of them are Hornady, if anyone can use them let me know and I’ll send them to you, if not they will be tossed in the scrap bin

It’s worth all the pain just see what we see ? -
So tonight I was meant to be out on the moor for a bumper rabbit session with little Hugo’s dad, but he had rang his dad and ask if he could come over for a dad and son movie night so you can’t fault him for doing the good dad thing, anyway I thought I’d give the sheep farm a go, when I got there the wind was very strong and even though it was a 3/4 moon it was very bright. I decided to head to the back of the farm where there’s one big tree that would give me a bit of cover and some shelter, setting the caller out 40 yards down the field from me it was 15 minutes before I seen the unmistakabl

I agree with you Dave, if anyone wants anything I can get for them I’m more than happy to dress it and drop it off to them free of charge, everyone is too disconnected to food now, I think even my missus thinks that chicken is born in plastic, a lot of the older generation that would be really great full when I turned up with a bag full of rabbits or a brace of pheasant are sadly no longer with us, my missus won’t eat anything I bring home She doesn’t know what she missing, my venison curry is the stuff of legend ?

We have loads around us and I’d happily shoot them if people want them, but I won’t kill them and chuck them in a hedge, when selling to the game dealers changed we stopped shooting as many, when I was down in Lincolnshire last week they had just had an order for 50 from a game dealer and they were paying £5 each, that’s not bad money for a couple of hours out

Two Belgian Malinois mate, they don’t even get their jackets off ?

I haven’t put any of my local outings on for a bit now so I thought I’d put this up, had a trip out with longshanx after some dog food for his mates dogs, hares were on the menu this evening as there’s an abundance of them on this land, went old school with the .17 and a lamp, the moon was silly bright but we got what we went for so them dogs will eat well for the next couple of days ?

Yeah, your not far off, we don’t get geese up there and what crows we do get tend to be way out in the fields, it’s not often you see them around the woods in any numbers, we do have the ever present woody’s but who doesn’t, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed ? I’ve it heard of any problems on the top yet -

I didn’t explain that very well, your thinking “ do you know birds can fly high, stav ?” the shoot that’s been hit with the flu is just outside a town that has a bird flu control zone in place, they have signs up saying “ bird flu control zone end “ as you start to go up the hill onto the moor, there’s no control zone up there because there’s no chicken farms i was reading something the other day that said one shoot was told to kill all their birds that were in the pens because of bird flu, it didn’t really say if they did but I would of thought you’d just release them, a least then they -

Up the shoot this morning just after first light to work out where they are going, I’m starting to see a few more in a couple of the drives, especially the roadside and the piggeries, now I’m swapping them over onto wheat I have left them longer before feeding as they do what they always do and flick the wheat out to get at the pellet so once they have cleaned the pellet up they have no choice other than to eat the wheat a couple of members say this isn’t the way to do it but it seems to work for me because they had cleared the lot up and were hungry, knocking at the spring feeders after somet
