Wish I’d kept that for my morning dump, but as soon as I seen the picture I couldn’t resist ?

Yeah, Lincolnshire, say no more ?

Now my birds have chilled out a bit, I’m hoping to get out and have some foxy stav time and enjoy been out again, the missus is going on holiday for a week next Sunday so I’ll have a bit more time on my hands, it’s a shame it’s not like it was 20 years ago, still some parts of the country are spoiled, I was talking to my mate rob earlier and he went to one spot last night and shot this lot ?

That’s because you’ve shot them all you ruthless bugger ??
-
I used to do the same, could do half a weeks wages down the club, I’m totally fine with venison been used as dog food but I know a couple of people that would kill them and leave them in a field, I’m definitely not ok with that, that’s just killing because you want to kill something, if it was worth something or I had an outlet for it again I’d be out all the time for them, but there’s only so much I can eat or give away, sad times ?

I mean brutal in the efficient sense, they are really good at what they do, to me when I hear people talking about deer management in forestry I think to myself “ what are you talking about “ there is no management in a working forestry environment they are there to clear them out, management is for a financial reason the majority of the time, getting yourself a better quality of animal that you can charge some whopper a lot of money to shoot just because they want to shoot it, now although that’s not my thing I don’t have a problem with it because everything needs a value to be sustainable, i

If you have land you want to be glad it’s not owned by forestry, them lot are brutal, I know the lad that does the deer control around my shoot ( he works for forestry) and he shoots everything he sees if it’s in season, the lad who does the other side of the moor is the same and you’ll almost never see a fallow on the grouse moor I shoot rabbits on, they have all but wiped them out, we’re quite lucky at the shoot, although we don’t have a lot of fallow there is a few because the land isn’t owned by forestry so he not allowed to shoot them in the fields which makes it difficult for him and not

What sort of age will that buck be, that’s quite a nice looking head, I’ve never been interested in head scoring I’m more interested in eating it than displaying it but I do like to have a ruff idea of age ?

Another day, another early start, I had a look at a picture from the day they went in earlier and it’s amazing how much they have grown in 10 days, I’ve calmed down a bit now as they have settled down and are taking an amount of feed I would expect them to, Gordon’s pen is starting to stink a bit now so maybe by the end of the week I’ll consider lifting the wire, but I’ll keep my eye on the over the coming week, I’ve got a few hammering the feeders over the piggeries although I haven’t seen any good numbers over there yet, I had a walk down the stubble at the back of the farm, now this field s -
That set up couldn’t look any more American ?? if you tried, I like it a lot, but somehow I think it would feel a bit wrong using it over here, Jesus, we still put a shirt and tie on to shoot pheasants ??

A couple of years back me and my mate Rob had arranged to go to Poland to do driven wild boar, I think it was about £1500 for 3 days plus flights, then covid arrived and we couldn’t go and both of us changed employment, which limited at least my funds ? hopefully in the future we’ll get to go and do it, I even practiced a bit on rabbits ?

It doesn’t work like that anymore, I’ve took over because it never works when the work is shared out between the members, people think it’s just feeding birds, but if loads of different people are going up then you don’t know how much feed is going over a certain amount of time, where the birds are and there’s always one idiot that starts moving feeders further out, every good syndicate I know of now has at least a part time keeper, after last season they came to the conclusion that they are better off paying someone to do it all, I’ll certainly never get rich from it but I won’t be out of poc -

Early start this morning, up at 5am, birds seem a little more settled, they seem to be taking enough feed for what is in, I am getting a few wandering down the fence in the beast field and down into the tip drive, they always do this so I went in with the quad at the bottom of the field at the back of the farm and headed up towards the tip, when I got half way up there was a group of about 40/50 along the edge of the stubble, these weren’t all ours, they were a good mix of ours, next doors and a few wildies, I could tell which were next doors, not just by the size but how when I slowly took th -

You’ll never go wrong with a CZ, I’ve had my little.22 for years and I’ve treated it with no respect at all and it’s never let me down, the CZ .17hmr I’ve got is unbelievable accurate, I don’t think I’d buy any other rimfire now, I also have a browning T-bolt in hmr and very rarely comes out the cabinet ? -
Very sad, R.I.P our queen, I’ve never been a royalist but that lady did nothing but good for this country

That’s the problem isn’t it, they fly above them all day worrying them and the just stay in the cover, there’s a hell of a lot of them compared to just a few years ago, we are starting to see a few red kites now as well, we could do without them -

Cheers ? it’s definitely not been the start I wanted, I think I was spoiled last season, I had no real problems at all, this morning I’d of been better with a boat than the quad, everything is hid in deep cover, oh, and I’ve got 2 drinkers that have stopped working in the forestry pen so I’ve had to put some poultry drinkers in until I can work out why they are air locking fingers crossed them buzzards get sick of pheasant for tea ?? -

Between 500g and 750g of brambles, 150g of sugar and a cheap bottle of gin, leave it in the jar for at least 6 weeks then strain it through a Muslim, it’s miles nicer than sloe gin ? or strain through a muslin, it’s up to you ? -
They have to be stacked, almost like a drystone wall ( for the look ) the meter cube ones on the bottom have divider’s in them so just the expensive limestone is at the front that you can see and we drop the rubble in the back but you still have to make sure you don’t push the sides out or it’s a nightmare to get the lids closed ?

I’m with both of you, it’s one thing that probably pi*ses me off, no body does it the shoot now, they all know they put them in their pocket or there’s a bucket on the pickup and don’t be firing plastic wads all over as well ( fibre or bio please) quick little story from a couple of years back now one of my biggest hates is people who drop litter, one day me and her were waiting at some traffic lights when the car beside us dropped all his McDonald’s crap out the window onto the road, I shouted “ what do you think you are doing you tw*t pick that up” to which I got a mouthful of abu
