I seem to get a fair bit of work at schools, this was last night, one of the problems of a lot of schools is the surrounding areas, commonly housing estates, so safe shots are at a premium, rimfires, and particularly the HMR often work well! 4 yesterday but there could have been 8 or more, safe shots are all important so several were refused. 3 together and another just as I was about to leave! Client (a Facilities company, whatever happened to school caretakers?) is well happy and want me to try for the rest. On that subject, this was a Central London school, they have 2 secur

Unfortunately we have been here many times. Even Lord Cullen, the author of the Public Enquiry Report, said, banning handguns would serve no useful purpose, but the politicians, led by the media needed a headline and some action! The whole incident was very sad but the kneejerk response by the politicians was lamentable!

Indeed, my last bike only went a few years back, summer riding was fun, winter was duty!

I've not been paying to much attention to either fighter to be honest, but I think a few people got a bit of a surprise all round and after with this fight!

The only thing that surprises me is that he served so long after he was eligible for parole. His victims are dead, they have no chance of any life but we seem to think its ok he should be allowed out. Something is wrong with our system!

It could just have been swimming, or walking/sitting on land for that sort of a pattern, could easily have been shot full body from behind, perhaps there was more than one person and someone else had some sort of airgun! Whatever, I don't personally see anything particularly suspicious about the shooting itself. What remains is the apparent senseless shooting and then dumping of a family of swans!
-
There is nothing wrong with the spread and that pattern for a shotgun, it is distinctly possible/probable, BB is much more unlikely due to the number and position of shots. I cannot deny there is what could be a single air gun pellet at the back of the head which could have been a dispatch shot, perhaps the shotgun didn't do the job 100%.

Perhaps this will at last convince the Anti Brexit brigade that fuel price increases in the UK are not down to Brexit!!
-
Who knows what went on here but those pellets have nothing to do with an airgun, who the hell wrote that article?

If you put it in the right place it will try to work!!!!! As mentioned, shot placement is critical. A lot of rimfire ammo has issues with Canada Goose feathers, so you don't shoot it there! A .25 tends to have a lot of thump but limited penetration on many things, especially in 12ft lb. If it doesn't work on a consistent basis then go back to a .22, get a PCP and up the power, you don't need a .25 for Jackdaw, and especially not a higher power springer!

I think we have all made a least one classic in our time, I ended up 65 miles form home on a job to find my ammo box, containing bolts as well, was still at home and I had a boot full of useless rifles.
-
I have still got good stocks of HMR ammo, not bought any for a while. There is talk the latest offerings of the ammo have improved, has anyone got any hard evidence? Cheers

If your .22lr is simply used for sub sonic lead ammo then there will be a lot more fouling on the HMR as its all coated. If you use HV .22lr where much is copper coated the fouling will be little different.....but, it will be easier to clean from a .22lr because of bullet speed and bore size. There is no doubt you need to be careful with the bore of the .17, it is small! My HMR is cleaned regularly and thoroughly and keeps zero, many suggest it takes 50 or more shots after a clean to get zero back, draw your own conclusions! I tend to use mine out to about 160 yards with a very high

I used to do a lot of work with a national pest control company and we had a competition every year for the biggest rat. Entries were only accepted for OVER 20" and we got a good few every year, and certainly several bigger than this.

It's difficult to know where to pitch this. For experience then you probably want as cheap as you can get. For anything a bit serious the money just piles on, and the serious ones get personal, so resale can be very difficult. I've done very little air pistol target, but used to do a lot of .22lr pistol target years ago. It was great fun, and we treated it as fun, none of us at the club were International level but we competed in postal leagues!

....still found time for the important things in life.... . He shot some pistols as well. I have an Mpeg of him actually shooting some but can't seem to load it, anyway, you get the idea!

This thread has he ability to enter the record books, it will run and run as the likelihood is Trump will be under fire for a long time yet!

Agreed...but also many years old now!

Akkar Churchill 206 Well, that's a new one to me, looks ok, and certainly SOME of the stuff that comes out of Turkey is ok, and almost always competitively priced. A report after a few weeks/months use would be interesting!

My first was a FAC, the SGC came some years later, but even all those years ago it was a buzz when it landed on the doormat. Especially as when I went to the Police station to collect my first FAC application forms, the copper looked at me as some pipsqueak teenager and said, you will never get one unless you are a member of a rifle club, I told him I was, and also had a lot of rabbit to deal with, the rest is history!

The European rabbit is a Non indigenous species in the UK.
-
RHD (mixxy) had not transferred to ANY other species in the 65 years it has been in the UK. There has been talk of it in Hare for the last year or two and much more talk recently. As far as I am aware this is still not confirmed, and is unlikely to be RHD, but may well be a variation on the theme!

reloading .22 lr - is it worth it?
Deker replied to Fredcoolbreeze's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I have seen a reloading kit for .22lr. I understand the results/consistency are poor. As an exercise to see if it can be done, have fun, as a practical, cost effective way of making .22lr ammo, forget it! -
There is no multi million £ industry around the wild European rabbit in the UK, and the Government, many landowners, farmers, stables, Golf courses, etc etc would be very happy if they were gone! Signal Crayfish, Canada geese, Grey squirrel, Muntjac etc were not here 1000 years ago, with the possible exception of the Canada, which may have made odd visits. The fact the rabbit may feed a few animals/birds is unlikely to persuade the Government, many landowners, farmers, stables, Golf courses, etc etc, of their worth, because many of those are multi million £ industries which the rabbit
