  4. Thanks, but that's still a bit of a trek for me, I actually got my last .223 from them, I'm in Reading. I need to search around a bit more. Cheers
  5. Where are you, any idea who stocks these, none advertised close to me! Are they just 200 boxes or are 50 available? Cheers
  6. That must be a fraction more energy as well then, I think I need to find a box and give them a try!
  7. Couldn't help noticing the A17 Varmint on the table, never used the stuff, your opinion appreciated, from what I hear it just has the edge on the normal 17g V Max???
  8. Oh, how topics digress.... what about the worlds military, are they all switching to Lead Free????
  9. Very useful and much appreciated everyone. Thanks
  10. I think we would all agree that lead can certainly be a hazard, BUT, help me out! Lead is mined, generally as an ore and refined into the substance we know, it is naturally occurring in the ground, so we take it out and return SOME of it, by way of spent ammunition, back into the ground. I understand about 75% of lead in the world is used in batteries anyway! I know that is a very simplistic view the situation, but what is all the fuss about, we extract it ALL from the ground and simply return a very small part of it?????
  11. Not even seen any yet! I was at the Phoenix show at Bisley last week and I couldn't find anybody with lead alternatives. Have you?????
  12. Just as you would with any wood/metal combination externally. Legia seems fair, but there are others. Barrels tend not to need much attention internally, but as lead disappears, and pellets made of all sorts of other metals/alloys/whatever arrive, that may change!
  13. Savage have a very mixed reputation, and frankly a very mixed stable of products. Some of their high end centrefires are well respected in the target arena, whilst some of their rimfires are hardly a step above toytown. I "believe" it has been exclusively the Savage 17WSM that has been imported into the UK. Who knows what they are up to these days, but I understand there was a management buy out there a few years back, so presumably some of the people who work there think they have a future!
  14. Everyone has there own preferences and requirements, I have a lot of calibres to deal with a lot of different situations. I fully accept the HMR has its issues (although the ammo seems to be improving?) but mine gets a lot of use! I love my WMR (I know its not that fashionable), with the 30g V-Max it flies very similar to the HMR out to about 100 yards, and there is a lot of ammo variety, in simple terms versatility. Both my .22lr remain close range, dedicated sub sonic tools, they don't get a lot of use but are great when required! PS, ammo prices all round, but esp
  15. What did happen to this BLM activist Shot in the head, is she dead or still on some sort of life support? Cheers
  16. Sounds good, but I'm a bit confused, I know we are only talking about 1-1.5ft lb but I thought they were generally about 10-10.5ft lb. 11.5-11.7 is about as good as you can get or want, don't understand why there are so many suggestions it's just a bit underpower!
  17. That sound fair, is that out of the box or have you had it worked on? Cheers
  18. Cheers everyone, I've heard good things about the HW99 over the years, but isn't it just a bit low on power?
  19. Thanks for that, do you know anyone who has one, I've heard their magazine system has issues?????
  20. I have a pal who has recently started to keep chickens in his garden and has rats already. He is against traps and poisons and doesn't want a cat, and has decided to get an Air rifle. He is starting at ground zero with a TOTAL budget of £300, absolute max of £350 for EVERYTHING, and must be new, not used. He has quite a long garden and they are near the end, so I'm guessing shot distance maybe to about 25yards. So, Break barrel only, (he does not want PCP and can't afford it anyway) 12ft lb, what calibre, what scope, what mounts, what moderator, what pellets, forget a gun slip
  21. Phoenix at Bisley is on at the moment, but, not really sure what it is meant to be about this year, very little target stuff and very little field stuff. A few new .22 made up to look military, The Southern Gun Co with some pretty outrageous stuff and then a bit of ammo and antiques for sale. Worth a visit for the experience, but 30-60 minutes gets you round the whole show without rushing!
  22. The PC Police will have something to say about that!
