....also the first day after the longest night of the year!!!

Cant fault the T3 for a factory rifle , very accurate. Ammo used is 58 grn v-max , which are the dogs b*****ks , very fast , flat and accurate. I am a bit partial to the T3 myself..I have a Lite in .223 and a Hunter in .243....what sort of availability and price do you find on the 58g V-Max .243, not easy to find and expensive round here!! To be fair they do seem to be able to handle most ammo pretty well, and some very well, I'm well happy with the Hunter, its the new pre cut and the shorter barrel model, P8 Compact on the end and the balance is great..the .223 Lite also ha

Don't know these and not used them...but I have used very similar stuff over the years...what are they all about and what are they like???? I'd be happy to try but a little light for me and my barrel likes 5.51 so looks like I am f....d!!

Need an early night to get over it.... Did you notice how much longer today was rather than yesterday????
-
You get all sorts on forums.. I even hear there are people on THL that don't like hunting!!

The Zeiss are meant to be better optically...I don't know though...what does get me is how heavy BOTH of these are! But you better hurry and make your mind up...it's almost too late to get your list to Santa already I have an idea, ask for them both..keep the one you like the best and give the other to me...Mill Dots please!!!

If that was anything like the Snipe I know, that was some shooting!!

Reloading opens up more options, but Target and Hunting are very different things!

Little Butch The obvious and simple answers are the best...if the original plan was as outlined, I wonder why this has not been done already:hmm: ...It could have happened whilst we were discussing everything..you can still do it today!!!! I have guns for my lad at the moment and his paperwork is away now...when it arrives back he won't stop pestering Dad till I transfer everything!! ATB

Ah, don't think I'll be looking for a plot that big TBH. Probably be looking for less than 10 acres if I'm honest. Do you think I'll struggle getting even a 22 rim or centrefire on a plot of say, 3-5 acres? It's likely to be surrounded by woodland. Thanks. Flippen 'ek...I'd say so... The Firearms departments are a law unto themselves...around my part of the world there is NO WAY you would get Rimfire or Centrefire on 3-4 acres or 20 acres. They should be looking at topography and location, but size still comes into it very often! Its all daft really, because standing in th

i was given 10 in the box i used them on heavy fallow in thick woodland nedless to say they didnt take many breaths when they were hit they did the job give you abit of athump wouldnt have bought any 150s are the boys I suspect a 200g Expanding .308 would stop quite a lot!! Don't actually use the .308 that much but the ammo tends to be around the 150g mark, sometimes a little heavier, but I think the heaviest I have let go is probably 180g!

It was a Baby too only about 6 weeks old...yep...I was pretty pleased as well, but I get a lot of practice up the range....and at 200 yards with the .22LR, so I know the ammo and holdover well..it was a set of circumstances that came together, I suspect I will never even try this again..it is great to have made it but not really to be recommended!! 35 years plus experience with the .22LR and it's just the once!! And all round I know several better shooters than me!!! But don't tell them I said so!! Simple fact is, it often comes down to being in the right place, right time, right cir

Never heard of, or seen these before, suspect they are probably American but who knows, too heavy for me anyway..200g is not light!

3 shots...sorry 194 yard baby bunny with .22LR 40g HP Sub sonic! 178 yard bunny through the heart up hill in the freezing mist at 02.00 in the morning having been shooting from 11.00 the previous morning, numbed from exhaustion and cold, illuminated as best as possible by 2 buddies...you had to be their...Wolf .223 55g HP Pigeon out of the sky with my 391...talking to shooting buddy, saw it coming over my shoulder, had to check myself from swinging through my partner, safety off during the turn and swing, Bang!!! Dead as dead, they heard the thump as it landed in the next county!!

I think you misunderstood my post...air rifle or rimfire....I would struggle to put one lump of shot into a bunnies head with ANY shotgun!!
-
YES...as long as you both complete the paperwork and send off to your firearms department as outlined above, or you can BORROW the gun for up to 72 hours without having to notify the police...as long as you have a VALID SGC! Is your SGC empty???
-
410 is a very capable gun for bunnies. It still puts lots of holes in them though, you must have a very understanding Game Dealer, mine wants single headshots and totally clean body!!

Polo Ponies!!! You have a good memory, been there a few times now, always very welcoming but that's it so far..but Dad was knocked out last visit when I took a fox out for them...always pays to impress Dad!! In this instance for several reasons!!!

It's not looking good for the 20g is it...I don't know anydoby who likes them and don't see any votes in their favour here either!
-
Chap..that is what I am trying to find out...what do you use them for and what do they do much better than what?? I've had enough of my .17HMR, it is of no particular interest or use to me any more as the .22LR and the WMR give me better versatiltity. If anything I have a bit of a gap between the WMR and the .223...the position the Hornet fitted quite well....don't go there...so I'm looking at options. .204 does not float my boat due to price and limited availability. All credit to anyone who wants to reload but it's not for me, so I take it the rest are non starters in that case.

I had cause to visit Thetford, Ipswich and Romford today....330 miles altogether, a fair bit off my normal patch and probably 30 years since I've been to Ipswich. You are lucky folk over that part of the world, as usual, I spent more time looking at the countryside, fields, woodlands, backstops, quarry etc, etc, than I did looking at the road...I know, a very bad habit!! My patch, Berkshire, is full of small holdings, commercial estates and tarts with 3 or 4 acre gardens...and neighbourhood busy bodies who can hear a moderated .22LR with subs 10 miles away...and complain non stop!!
-
You'll have to tell Mr L all about the Tikka T3...he's after a long range fox tool What ammo do you use out at that range..or do you stick to the same stuff regardless?? Cheers
-
Ok..other than the .204 (about as easy to find as rocking horse s***) all these others are "wildcats". I would be very interested to hear from any users what, and why they have/want/use any of these. I assume you reload so that puts me off straight away. Guns are tools of my trade as well as precision instruments, on top of a selection of air rifles and rimfires and shotguns I run the simple and easy .223, .243 and .308. If I want something particularly flat shooting for longer range I simply use a 40g .223 V-Max, or a 58g .243 V-Max. I come up against a lot of different situat

Always worth a box to try, but stick with the one box to start with!!
